Chapter 277
Wore Down
Lauren's eyes widened suddenly as she asked incredulously, "It's because of your family's demands that you think this way, isn't it?"
Benjamin said, "Lauren, I don't want you to do anything else that wears down my guilt about you. You know that. Once the last of the guilt is gone, you and I are done. I don't deny that I did have thoughts of marrying you. And I did so after you woke up. But that thought disappeared when you gradually wore down my guilt."
He said it with such unmistakable clarity that Lauren froze in stunned silence for a moment.
Benjamin looked at Lauren without much emotion. There was too much coldness in his eyes as he said faintly, "So think carefully about what to choose for yourself."
His words were warning Lauren not to do anything to hurt Harper, especially now that Harper was pregnant. If she harmed the baby, their affection and guilt would be gone.
Lauren pressed her lips together and kept quiet for a long time. She was very emotional, so all she could do was control herself to keep from speaking.
She worried that what she said would make her relationship with Benjamin more and more strained.
Lauren clasped her hands together for a long time before saying, "Benjamin, I get your point. Don't worry about it. I won't do anything to disappoint or upset you. I wanted to tell you today besides asking you this question that I've got it all figured out. Let's sign the contract."
She decided to sign the contract that allowed the Martin Group to use all their connections to support her acting career.
Benjamin asked, "Are you sure?"
"Yes. I'll focus on my career from now on, and I will make myself better. I can't go through life asking you for help with everything."
She smiled, but her eyes were flooded with tears, and her heart was bitter.
Benjamin didn't say much but just had Curtis print out the contract and bring it in. Then, he signed the contract with Lauren as the Martin Group.
The Martin Group was involved not
only in the real estate, jewelry, and hotel industries but also in film and entertainment. Under Benjamin's leadership, the Martin Group
produced a number of succes net
movies and TV series in the last two years. The Martin Group also had its own entertainment company and had signed several famous actors and singers.
Although the Martin Group's film and entertainment company didn't develop long ago, the Martin Group itself represented high quality. Lauren's decision to sign on at this point and let Benjamin support her with all of his resources was the best of both worlds. Putting away her contract, Lauren left Benjamin's office.
She called her current manager, Rue, with the news as soon as she got out of the Martin Group, telling Rue to disband the studio and leave everything to the Martin Group.
Lauren narrowed her eyes, her eyes full of hate, and she believed that Harper had caused her relationship with Benjamin to become what it was today.
She gritted her teeth hard, telling herself she mustn't just let it go, but she was already thinking of a new plan.
After Lauren left, Benjamin said to Curtis, "Why don't you have Lauren's manager, Rue, come over and talk to her so you can remind her of what she should and shouldn't do?"
Curtis immediately understood what Benjamin meant. Since they had signed Lauren, the people about Lauren naturally had to belong to the Martin Group.
If Rue didn't cooperate, they could just find a reason to fire her.
Curtis went right ahead and set it up.
In the evening, Benjamin drove to pick up Harper and then went back to the Martin Manor together.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
