I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 278

The Equity Transfer

It was Harper's first time back at the Martin Manor since her pregnancy was publicized, and Lily had ordered the servant to prepare a table full of Harper's favorite dishes, all of which were suitable for pregnant women.

At dinner, Paul took a copy of the assignment that he had had his lawyer come over during the day to have specially drawn up and handed it to Harper. "This is my gift to you and the baby. I was supposed to give it to you when you married Benjamin. This time, you're not allowed to refuse."

What Paul gave her was a transfer of equity. He gave Harper and the baby in her belly two percent of the shares in the Martin Group that belonged to him personally.

Two percent was enough to make Harper a director of the Martin Group, even more than Benjamin had when he first entered the Martin Group. Harper froze completely.

Instead of taking it, she refused. "Grandpa, I can't have it."

Paul said immediately and seriously, "Take it, Harper. It's something that belongs to you, and you should take it."

Scott and Lily thought so, too. "Harper, just take it. We're all family. Why are you being so polite?"

Harper's expression stiffened a bit. She felt a little stressed about it.

Once she took those shares, her ties to Benjamin would be even tighter.

That was why she hadn't taken the shares Paul had given her when she got married. She didn't want to tie Benjamin to her with all this outside stuff.

She pressed her lips together slightly, a little unsure of what to say for a moment.

Benjamin noticed her silence and reached over to take the equity transfer and look at it. "Grandpa, I'll hold it for her for now. I'll give it to her when she's willing to sign it. Otherwise, you'll probably have to wait until tomorrow morning when you let a pregnant woman make the choice."

Paul froze and then smiled, "Okay, you keep it. However, I have to be clear with you. This is for Harper and the baby, not you."

"What? Are you afraid I'll hog it?"

"Hmph. It's not impossible."

The atmosphere livened up with Benjamin's interruption.

Lily had been taking care of Harper, noting what dishes she ate a few

more bites of and then having the servant make them again the next time. Harper ate less of a dish, she wouldn't let the servant make it

anymore.

A pregnant woman needed a lot of care because of her changing tastes and hormonal imbalance, and Lily had experienced that, so she had to give Harper her best.

After dinner, Lily took the initiative to

say, "Harper, have you lost weight

recently? You are now eating for

two. You must keep up with youmet to go and cook for you quervant

nutrition. How about I find a servant

specifically?"

Harper subconsciously looked to Benjamin for his opinion.

Benjamin received her look and responded, "No, we'll just get a servant. You and Grandpa are used to servants here, so just keep them."

Lily didn't have a problem with it.

She just said, "Then you guys better find one that's a good cook and a good person."

"Okay, I know."

Benjamin nodded.

As they talked, Lily suddenly said, "Harper, I ran into your mom today. Have you not told the Mitchell family about your pregnancy? I didn't know you hadn't, so I invited her over for dinner after I ran into her and blurted it out. She looked a little upset. Why don't you call and explain it to her later when you get back with Benjamin?"

Lily felt a little guilty and apologetic at the mention of it.

Initially, she wanted to call Harper right then and there. But thinking that Harper was coming back for dinner in the evening, she waited until now before she dared to speak.

Lily apologized, "It's my fault for saying that without asking you. I'm really sorry!"Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
