Chapter 228
The two walked to a nearby restaurant for a meal. Yvette wasn't afraid of the people following her reporting to Xavier. She and Claude were innocent; there was nothing to fear. Meanwhile, Xavier had already received photos from the people tailing Yvette. He gripped his phone tightly, unable to suppress the rage in his eyes.
No wonder she had wanted to go out-she had a date. Xavier felt a deep-seated frustration, but he couldn't pinpoint why.
At this moment, he received a call from Shannon. She was crying with joy. "Xav, there's news from Longview Bay. They said he might wake up."
Xavier instantly clenched his phone. "I understand," he uttered before hanging up.
At the restaurant, Yvette looked at the beautifully prepared dishes, but she had no appetite. Her stomach felt unsettled.
She didn't know if it was because of Xavier or if she was pregnant. It wasn't safe to check at a local hospital or even buy a pregnancy test herself. She had to wait until she was abroad, where it would be safer. "I looked into Jeremiah. He's Xavier's twin brother. However, there's very little information about him," Claude said.
"Is there nothing else? Like where he is now?" Yvette asked.
Claude shook his head. "It won't be easy to find out anything for now."
The Lane family had kept Jeremiah's identity even more well hidden than Yvette's abroad.
"Why did you ask me to investigate him?" Claude inquired.
Yvette gripped her cutlery tightly. "I feel like I might have misunderstood something."
Claude didn't quite understand what she meant.
"It's nothing serious," Yvette explained. "We're leaving soon anyway, so we don't need to investigate further."
The more she dismissed it, the more Claude suspected that Jeremiah was of significant importance to her..
Yvette quickly changed the subject, talking about how she had recently seen Noah and how smart he was. Even though she spoke with a smile, Claude could sense her underlying sadness.
Returning to the main topic, Yvette had already decided on a departure date. "I'm planning to leave with Noah in five days."
"Why five days?" Claude asked.
"I made a deal with Xavier to stay with him for a month, and then he would let us go," Yvette explained briefly. "There are still 11 days left,
but I don't believe he'll let Noah and me go even after the month is up."
"So, your plan is to trick him into thinking you'll leave in 11 days when you'll actually leave earlier?" Claude quickly grasped her intention.
"Yes," Yvette replied. "Also, five days
from now is the launch ceremony for Daphne's new TV show. She'll definitely contact Xavier after we disrupt her new project. By then, Xavier won't have the time to come after us."
Yvette felt sure that Xavier would be preoccupied with Daphne, not just because she planned to expose Daphne's true nature but also
reveal a crucial truth to

It wasn't about making Xavier feel guilty or obliging Shannon to repay a debt; she just didn't want someone she disliked to claim credit for something she didn't do. Besides, Xavier had even forgotten that Yvette had saved his life by taking a knife for him. Considering that, he must favor Daphne because of more than just gratitude. Claude, who had been worried that Yvette might not genuinely want to leave, was now sure that she wanted to leave.
"Alright," he agreed.
After finalizing their plans, Claude escorted Yvette back to Dewberry Manor.
Yvette opened the door and found Xavier already home, sitting on the couch with his shirt open and a glass of whiskey in hand. His eyes, slightly reddened, fell on Yvette. "Finally decided to come back?" he slurred.
Yvette stepped forward. "I only had dinner with him. If you can't handle even that, I have nothing more to say."
As she started to head upstairs, Xavier forcefully pulled her into his arms. Holding her wrist tightly, he lowered his voice. "You'd best believe I could have him killed."
