Chapter 336
Winter had been busy with the wedding preparations lately. Although both sets of parents insisted on handling most of the arrangements, Winter could not help but get involved.
After all, marriage was one of the most important events in a woman's life, and Winter was no exception.
Recently, she had been frequently shopping with Emilia, her soon-to-be mother-in-law. The main goal was not just to buy things but also to win Emilia
over.
Winter noticed Xavier had been distracted, and she knew it was because he was still thinking of Noelle. Even though they were getting married, Xavier's mind often wandered to Noelle.
Winter was well aware of this but could not let go. She was determined to spend her life with Xavier. She realized Xavier's weak points were his parents, Joseph and Emilia.
She did not need to please Joseph, who was a straightforward man. She just needed to be proper and gain his approval.
However, Emilia was different. As a homemaker, all her attention was on Xavier and Joseph.
Xavier was Emilia's only son, and her affection for him was evident. Winter believed that if she could win over Emilia, Xavier would not leave her. Hence, during this period, whatever Emilia was busy with, Winter would join her.
Over time, Emilia, not being a cold-hearted person, accepted Winter, especially since the marriage was a done deal. Emilia thought Winter wouldn't be half bad as well, and she gradually stopped thinking about Noelle.
Winter had been so occupied that she completely forgot about Annie. It was the day before her wedding when Suzy came to visit and mentioned Annie.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Suzy said Annie had been staying home after a recent setback and had not been out much. Only then was Winter reminded of Annie.
"Did Annie say anything to you? Is she angry with me?" Winter asked.
Suzy shook her head. "I've been busy too and haven't contacted her. I heard about her from Kelsey Polin over coffee. Kelsey asked why she hadn't seen us out with Annie lately."
Suzy continued, "Do you think Annie might be upset with us?"
"Why would she be upset with you? If anything, she might blame me! You know, she called me once, but~ we have no idea who she offended, and I can't help with that. I've been busy with my wedding to Xavier and neglected her," Winter replied,
looking troubled.
"I wonder if Annie will come to my wedding tomorrow," she continued.
...
Meanwhile, Annie, who was the subject of their conversation, was out shopping with Cindy.
After her recent ordeal, Annie had been significantly impacted. In just a few days, she had lost a lot of weight.
Annie did not want to go out, as she still had scars on her face. Despite applying makeup, the scars were still noticeable.
Annie, who had always cared about
her appearance, struggled to accept these new scars. Moreover, her father had decided not to let her undergo cosmetic surgery
el
immediately. He wanted her to fully understand the consequences of her actions before allowing her to go abroad for treatment.
"Mom, let's go back," Annie said, her voice muffled behind her sunglasses. She seemed timid and uncomfortable.
Feeling her daughter's pain, Cindy
wanted to help but did not know
how. She thought bringing Annie out
might lift her spirits, but it was clear her daughter was still deeply affected.
