The Cherished Wife

Chapter 335

"You sure are a good talker, young man," Samuel said, clearly pleased. He signaled Eli with his eyes. Eli then handed Ronald an envelope. "Mr. Wells, you must be very busy, so I'll handle these things," Eli continued.

"Thank you very much, Sir Shaw," Ronald replied. His manners were impeccable, which only increased Samuel's satisfaction.

After Ronald left, Samuel leaned on his cane and said, "If Julian asks about these things later, just say that I bought these myself because I was feeling happy today."

"Yes, sir!" Eli replied.

Sure enough, as soon as Samuel and Eli entered the house, Jade saw Eli carrying large items into Samuel's room.

She immediately knocked on Julian's study door. "Jule," she called.

"What's the matter?" Julian put down what he was working on and frowned at Jade's sneaky demeanor. "We're in our own house. What's with the sneaking around?"

Jade glanced down the hallway before speaking. "Guess what the old man brought back just now?"

"What could he have brought? He's old and buys whatever he likes. It's no big deal," Julian said dismissively. "Not to mention, Winter's wedding is in two days. Shouldn't you be busy with that instead of spying on the old man?"

"What do you mean by that? Do you think I'm spying on him?" Jade retorted, clearly unhappy.

"Haven't you noticed he's been

acting strangely lately? He's always

going out, and we have no idea what he's up to. He's been retired for years and should be past his busy days. Besides, he didn't just buy small trinkets this time. They're all supplements, and they're imported goods!"

Julian paused. "Are you serious?"

"Of course, I'm serious! Eli's moving them into his room right now," Jade said, her tone tinged with resentment.

"Those things are not cheap, at least tens of thousands of dollars. Even if he has money, he shouldn't be throwing it around like that!"

"You can say that to me, but don't you dare say it in front of him," Julian scolded, glaring at Jade.

"You're getting more and more reckless with your words. He can buy whatever he wants. It's his money, not yours. If he hears you talking like this, there'll be trouble in this house again."

"Julian, what do you mean by that? Are you saying I'm making trouble out of nothing? Just look at how the old man treats me! I'm your lawfully wedded wife, but ever since IContent held by NôvelDrama.Org.

"I bet those things aren't for himself. Maybe they're for that brat, Noelle!"

"Enough! You're making less and less sense," Julian said, his patience wearing thin.

"If they were for Noelle, he'd have

Despite his words, Julian made a mental note of Samuel's recent behavior, his expression turning somber. "I'll check his room later."
