It was as if Joe was looking for proof that Skylar loved him.

A knock came on the door as she was about to delve further into her thoughts.

“Mr. Martin, Mrs. Martin, lunch is ready. You may go upstairs to eat.” Paul’s voice came from the door.

Skylar glanced at Joe, who was still on the phone and walked over to open the door.

“Mr..Martin is still busy,” she said.

Paul noticed she didn’t look too happy and wasn’t sure if she and Joe had argued. So, he just smiled and said, “Okay, I’ll let them know to serve the food later. Is there anything in particular you’d like to eat, Mrs.

Martin?”

“No, I’m fine with anything,” Skylar replied honestly.

She really didn’t have much of an appetite at the moment. Skipping breakfast and using up all her energy had left her without any sense of hunger.

Paul wisely chose not to ask further.

Seeing Skylar in such a bad mood, he figured that Joe might not be in the best mood either, so he needed to stay on high alert.

As Joe approached, Paul suddenly realized that while Skylar didn’t seem too happy, Joe looked utterly

content.

He appeared relaxed and in good spirits, unlike someone who had just had a fever the night before. There was a palpable sense of inner joy radiating from him.

What was going on? Paul couldn’t quite figure out the situation.

Moments later, Skylar and Joe arrived at the restaurant on the 26th floor.

Since Paul had already ordered, the dishes were served as soon as they sat down.

Skylar gradually found her appetite as she ate silently, not speaking to Joe and keeping her head down.

Meanwhile, Joe knew exactly why she was upset. It was his fault for being too rough earlier and not holding himself back. So, he had hurt her in the process.

“It was my fault earlier,” he admitted.

Skylar was a bit surprised that he would take the initiative to apologize.

“Is there anywhere you want to go? We can head out after lunch,” Joe continued, his voice gentle and full of affection.

Skylar’s anger started to subside a little. “Don’t you have anything in the afternoon?”

“No, I just want to spend time with you,” Joe replied, his tone was patient and accommodating. It was completely different from the ruthless way he acted that morning.

Skylar had a few places in mind, so she pulled her phone out and showed him some photos. “I did some research before coming here, and there are a few places I want to visit.”

“Alright, we’ll visit all of them,” Joe said generously. He knew he had to make up for his actions earlier.

Just then, someone suddenly approached and stood in front of them.

Sensing someone nearby, Skylar looked up only to see Vera standing before them.

What a coincidence.

The moment Joe saw Vera, his smile faded.

“What a coincidence, I didn’t expect to see you here,” Vera said. Then, she sat down beside Skylar without asking if she could join them.

Skylar’s face turned cold. Fortunately, she was almost done with lunch. It seemed that Joe wouldn’t have time to go out with her now, so she might as well go on her own.

Dabbing the corners of her mouth with a napkin, Skylar stood up. “I’m done. You two continue.”

Vera seemed a bit surprised by Skylar’s sudden departure. “Skylar, are you going out later? Why don’t we go together?”

Hearing this, Skylar glanced at Vera. It was then that she saw the ring on Vera’s hand.
