Molly had told her that the ring had to appear frequently in front of Joe for it to be effective.

Joe just glanced at her and responded with a noncommittal hum.

As he left, he glanced at the ring on her hand. “Nice ring.”

Vera kept her expression calm and said, “A friend gave it to me. I’m just wearing it for fun.”

She didn’t expect Joe to pay attention to women’s accessories.

But as Molly had said, there was nothing wrong with him noticing the ring. He wouldn’t figure anything out.

In fact, if he looked closely, it would be even better.

“Are you interested in these accessories?” she asked, lifting her hand slightly to give him a clearer view.

Joe did look at the ring a bit longer, but his voice was cold and detached when he said, “It might suit Skylar.”
