Chapter 8

“Your name is Aubrey Jacomb and you’re the young Mrs. Cohen, aren’t you? I believe I’m not wrong,” Daxton said. He had always had a good memory.

He remembered meeting Aubrey once and sharing a table during the event. He never forgot her. She didn’t used to be so out of shape like this. He remembered her as a polite and refreshing young woman, and he had taken a liking to her.

It was most probably because she wasn’t full of pretenses like how the other young women in the elite circle behaved. Aubrey ate and drank whatever she wanted without a care in the world, while those elite young women ate less than a handful of food in order to maintain their figure.

Daxton was also someone who enjoyed eating. That was why Aubrey had left such a huge impression on him.

Even though Aubrey had put on a lot of weight since they last met two years ago, he could still recognize her.

Aubrey was stunned. “It’s an honor that you still remember me, Mr. Miller.”

“Well, you also remember me after all.”

Daxton’s smile was bright and blinding. It felt like a warm ray of sunshine shining down on Aubrey.

“You’re a very handsome young man, Mr. Miller. I’m sure that anyone who has ever laid eyes on you would never forget you.” Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

“Thank you for the compliment,” Daxton said while touching his face. “I also think that I’m the most handsome man in Aceville City. I don’t think anyone else dares to claim that they look better than I do.”

He was full of self-confidence. He then looked Aubrey up and down before continuing, “Mrs. Cohen, while delicious food is meant to be enjoyed, I still think that you need to take better care of your image. Be careful of your husband abandoning you because you’ve put on so much weight.”

Aubrey’s face fell. Randell never loved her even before she’d put on any weight. After all, he’d even forced her into a divorce just now.

However, Aubrey didn’t plan on telling this to Daxton. This was only the second time they met, and they weren’t so close to each other that she would tell him any of her private matters. He was a stranger after all.

Daxton wasn’t daft. He could see the change in Aubrey’s expression and correctly guessed that she wasn’t happy in her marriage.

He had heard that Aubrey was from the countryside and only married into the Cohen family because her father saved Grant’s life. The marriage had simply been an act of gratitude on the Cohens’ part.

Marriages like this were doomed to fail.

If Aubrey possessed outstanding beauty and knew how to play her cards well, she might still have had a shot at winning Randell’s heart. Unfortunately, Aubrey hadn’t taken care of her figure and went completely out of shape.

Aubrey used to be as pretty as a flower. She was young, vibrant, and fairly attractive. Daxton had seen his fair share of pretty women, and even then, he couldn’t stop himself from giving her another glance.

But now that Aubrey had put on a lot of weight, he didn’t think the same way about her anymore.

“Mrs. Cohen, you should try exercising and stop putting on so much weight. It’s time to slim down and regain your beauty from before. That’s the only way to get your husband back,” Daxton said. He told Aubrey that she had to change her image, out of the goodness of his heart.

“How much do you weigh now?”

Aubrey’s face turned crimson red. She answered shyly in a soft voice, “I went for a body check-up a month ago, and I weighed 200 pounds.”

“With your height, you should be maintaining your weight around 99 to 110 pounds. Anything more than that would be considered a little chubby, but if you go lower than 99, then you’re gonna be too thin. You’d lose your figure altogether and look exhausted.”

Aubrey retorted feebly, “It’s not that I’m lying down and doing nothing at home. I just can’t stop eating. I get hungry after just working for a bit, and I always feel like eating a lot. That’s why… I put on a lot of weight.”

Her fatty liver problem was also getting worse.

Every time she went for a body check-up, the doctors would tell her to lose some weight, eat less meat, and exercise more.

“You must control your eating habits and exercise. But, you also can’t starve yourself to lose weight. That’s going to give you all kinds of problems in the long run.

“Just cut down on the meat and stop eating so much sweet stuff. I remember that you’re a huge fan of desserts because you’ve got a sweet tooth. But you should stop eating them.”

Daxton then took out a business card and handed it over to Aubrey. He said, “My friend owns a gym. You can go there to work out and lose some weight.”

After everything he said, it had turned out to be sales talk after all.

Aubrey cursed him silently in her heart. However, she still took the card from him as a polite gesture and thanked him.

She hurriedly glanced at the business card and the gym’s address. She’d never heard of the gym before. She then quickly stuffed the business card into her pocket.

“I’ll go there when I’m free.”

Aubrey then lowered her head and stared at her protruding belly. Maybe it was really time for her to lose some weight.

If she really were to continue putting on weight like before, Randell wasn’t going to be the only one who thought she was disgusting. She would probably also start thinking of herself as a disgusting person.
