Chapter 7
After getting out of Haven Villas, Aubrey floored the gas pedal and flew down the road at record speed.
She hadn’t wanted to cry, but the tears just wouldn’t stop streaming down her face.
She couldn’t tell Wilfred that the Cohens were forcing her to get a divorce. If he found out about it, he was going to give her an earful.
Her best friend hadn’t been the only one who told her not to marry Randell back then. Even Wilfred had been completely against the idea. He had told her that Randell was a complete stranger and she had no feelings whatsoever for him.
Some people just weren’t worth marrying before they fell in love with you. That was because some people were heartless and would never fall in love, no matter how hard the other person tried.
When Aubrey still married into the Cohen family, however, Wilfred got so angry that he never spoke to her for a whole year. He had told her that she would regret her decision one day. And if the Cohens were to bully her, she was not to go to him to cry or look for comfort.
Darius was only 16 years old and a sophomore in high school. He was going to be a junior a few months later and Aubrey didn’t want her problems to affect his studies. His studies were more important, after all.
So, Isla was the only person left whom she could vent out all her frustrations to.
There was a red stop light at the junction ahead of her. The surrounding cars all slowed down to a stop as they waited for the light to turn green.
Aubrey was in a bad mood and speeding rather distractedly. When she finally realized that it was a red light, she hurriedly stepped on the emergency brakes to stop the car.
However, due to how fast she had been speeding, she still couldn’t stop the car from ramming into the luxury vehicle ahead of her.
There was a loud thud.
Aubrey lurched forward before her seatbelt rudely yanked her back into her seat.
The car finally came to a stop. When Aubrey raised her eyes, she was shocked to see that the car she’d just rammed into was a Maybach. She felt a cold shiver as her heart sank.
She was done for.
She sat in the car. Her mind was completely blank, and she did not know what to do.
The owner of the Maybach got out of the driver’s seat and got out of his car. It was a tall, handsome young man.
The man was none other than Daxton Miller.
He first inspected the damage to his car. Luckily, Aubrey had managed to brake and stop the car from crashing into him, but the inertia from her speeding still caused their cars to collide. Nonetheless, both cars weren’t too seriously damaged.
He figured that the BMW owner must be in extreme shock after clipping his Maybach.
Daxton first took a few photos of the damage before walking over to Aubrey’s driver’s window and knocking on it.
Aubrey never in her wildest dreams thought that the person she’d crash her car into would be none other than Daxton.
The last time she’d seen him in person was nearly two years ago. She really couldn’t understand how Randell dared to deep fake her intimate photos with Daxton although they’d only met once years ago. Couldn’t he have at least chosen a more believable target?
Aubrey stared at Daxton’s handsome face and quickly pulled herself back to the present. She unlocked her doors and got out of the car.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry that I didn’t manage to brake in time. I didn’t mean to clip your car.”
The first thing Aubrey did was to apologize. It was her fault and responsibility, after all.
Daxton wasn’t too pleased. This was his new Maybach that he’d just gotten from the showroom. And yet, he’d managed to get into an accident on the way back while waiting for a stop light.
But since Aubrey apologized to him as soon as she got down, and also since she was a female, Daxton didn’t lose his shit at her. Sure, Aubrey was on the chubbier side, but he had always been courteous when it came to ladies.
“You must have been pretty distracted to not be able to brake in time at a stop light,” Daxton said, lightly chiding Aubrey.
“I’m sorry, I’m truly very sorry…”
Aubrey kept apologizing over and over again. She then raised her eyes and looked at Daxton. “I’ll pay for all the repairs to your car,” she said apologetically.
“Of course, you will. You clipped me from the back, so it’s all your fault even if we don’t get the traffic police involved. But still, I think it’s better to get them involved.”
Daxton then called the police to report the crash. NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
Aubrey stood to the side. She did not know what to do.
Today simply wasn’t her day. First, the Cohens tried forcing her into a divorce, and now, she crashed her car into Daxton’s Maybach.
After reporting the crash to the police, Daxton told Aubrey to move her car to the side of the road. He also got into his own car to move it to the side. Then, he got out and grabbed the warning triangle sign from the back of his car.
After Aubrey was done moving her car to the side, Daxton placed the warning sign about ten feet behind her car so that the oncoming cars would be aware and not crash into her.
Aubrey watched as he did all of this before walking back to her.
“Let’s move farther into the side of the road. Don’t stand here. When accidents like this happen, you always need to move your car to the side of the road while you just get out of the way and wait for the police to arrive after calling them. That way, you’ll prevent other accidents from happening.”
Daxton then gestured for Aubrey to wait at the curb for the traffic police to arrive.
The stop light turned green. The other cars on the road quickly left the scene. Even the cars behind them also circled around the two stopped cars by the roadside to avoid them.
Daxton tilted his head and looked at the chubby woman next to him. He frowned as he asked, “Are you still a huge fan of eating? You’re about to turn into a meatball.”
Aubrey looked at him, dumbfounded.
