Chapter 600 Farewell Toast
Colin slightly raised his brows when he heard Abbot’s words.
Not getting a response from Colin, Abbot continued through gritted teeth, “A man should be honest and
kind. You can’t seek happiness from other people’s pain.”
Colin asked in a deep voice, “Are you talking about Ethan?”
Abbot said, “I was referring to…”
Before he could finish his words, Colin looked up at Ethan and said in a righteous voice, “Ethan, Abbot
was referring to...”
Colin was interrupted because Abbot reached out and pinched his thigh fiercely. Abbot said, “Let me
tell you a joke.”
Everyone at the table simultaneously looked toward Abbot when they heard his words.
Having no choice, Abbot deliberated on the wording for a while, coughed, and then said, “A poor guy
changed his phone number. He planned to joke with his girlfriend and sent her a message: Love is
destined. Do you want to know about your fate with him? Then send you and his real names, such as
Tom and Susan. The consulting fee is 5 cents per time. Several minutes later, this poor guy received
his girlfriend’s and his best friend’s names…”
The private room was enveloped by dead silence when Abbot finished the words.
Faye tried hard to suppress her laughter.
Violet looked awkward.
While Colin and Ethan looked interested.
Colin chuckled and then said meaningfully, “This story is very connotative.”
Ethan asked, “Is that poor guy surnamed Waylon?”
Colin teased, “Luckily, his surname is not Farrell or Bond.”
The two chimed in with each other, which amused Faye and Violet. To suppress their laughter, they
lowered their heads and took a sip of water.
No matter how awkward the process was, at least the result was good.
The tension in the private room was alleviated because of Abbot’s lame joke.
After a while, all the dishes they ordered were all served on the table. Abbot pulled his chair toward
Colin and said in a low voice, “It was just a joke.”
Colin nodded and said seriously, “I understand.”
Abbot continued, “It doesn’t have any connotation.”
Colin nodded with a serious expression and said, “I understand. It has nothing to do with you and
Matthew.”
Abbot was rendered speechless.
Being choked by Colin’s words, he gritted his teeth and picked up his cutleries, preparing to enjoy the
dishes. But he was completely dumbfounded when he saw the colors of the dishes.
They were all green.
[Author’s Note: In some cultures, green means being cheated.]
Even though not all dishes were green, they were decorated with some green ingredients.
Abbot felt speechless. He turned around, looked at the waiter standing at the door of the private room,
and asked, “Did you change the chef?”
The waiter replied politely with a smile, “Mr. Carter, we didn’t.”
Abbot continued, “When did you begin to decorate Boston lobster with green leaves?”
The waiter replied, “Mr. Waylon says it’s spring and proposes to add the green color to every dish
because it’s a symbol of vigor.”
Abbot asked, “Is it the same for every guest?”
The waiter replied honestly, “Nope. Only this room.”
Abbot was lost for words.
He clenched the cutleries silently. Colin, who sat beside him, kicked his calf under the table and said,
“Eat. Life must have a green color.”
Abbot took a deep breath when he heard these ridiculous words. He asked Colin, “Is there a green
color in your life?”
Colin replied without any expressional change, “I don’t need it. Moreover, I'm allergic to the green
color.”
When Abbot was about to retort to Colin, Violet, who sat opposite him, suddenly raised her goblet and
stood up. With a smile, she said gently, “Thank you for your hospitality today.”
Violet gulped down the wine in her goblet after finishing the words.
She was very unrestrained when drinking the wine, which was quite different from the image she
showed to them at usual times.
Violet then put down the goblet. Before other people could pick up their goblets, she took the wine
bottle and poured another glass for herself. Then she raised the goblet and said, “It’s a great pleasure
to get to know you guys. Thank you for taking care of me when I’m in Cocanel.”
When Violet first toasted them, everyone thought she did that out of politeness.
However, when Violet toasted again, they all felt it abnormal.
Especially Ethan, his face immediately turned gloomy.
After drinking the second glass of wine, Violet picked up the bottle again, preparing to pour the third
glass of wine for herself.
Much to her surprise, Ethan stopped her by putting his palm on the back of her hand with a cold Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
expression when she raised her hand.
Violet’s fingers trembled slightly. She tilted her head to look at Ethan.
Ethan raised his eyes to take a glance at her, stood up, grasped her wrist, and pulled her toward the
door.
Violet immediately brushed. She called, “Ethan.”
Ethan said in a cold voice, “We need a talk.”
