Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 218

Chapter 218 The Straw That Broke the Camel’s Back Damien pressed up against Clarissa forcefully.

He was just about to take his temper out on her when she grabbed a knife from the bedside table

She held it against his neck.

He stared at her, his gaze complicated.

“Don’t touch me!” Clarissa said, her angry face streaked with tears.

Whether Damien had killed her mother or otherwise, it definitely had something to do with him.

Despite all that, this scumbag still wanted to get her pregnant!

In his dreams!

They were supposed to be sworn enemies.

Damien pushed the knife away with his finger. “Do you think this puts me in a good mood?”

“You killed someone-of course you shouldn’t be in a good mood! But that doesn’t make things any

better for the victim. My mother…” Clarissa recalled how, when Theresa had just woken up from her

coma, she had buried her head in Theresa’s lap and called out to her repeatedly, just so she could hear

a reply. Now, however, the whole room felt cold and empty.

Her mother was gone, and it was as if there was no one else left in this world.

Theresa wouldn’t answer Clarissa anymore.

Clarissa broke down and started sobbing. She eventually fell asleep.

Damien held her in his arms as she cried.

When she woke up the next day, her eyes were swollen. She knew Damien was still in bed. “Stop

watching me like I’m some criminal. I’m fine, and I won’t die,” she said to him. He scrutinized her,

thinking about how much truth there was in her words.

“Stay here and don’t go anywhere. I’ll be back after dropping by at the company for a while,” he said.

After Damien left, Clarissa cleaned all the things that Theresa had used, then put them away. She also

tidied up Theresa’s clothes.

Connie’s WhatsApp message came at noon.

(Clarissa, are you free? If you are, I want to talk to you.] Clarissa figured that there really wasn’t any

discord to sow between herself and Damien at this point. Perhaps Connie just wanted to talk about

Theresa. (Come on over. I’m at home.) When Connie arrived, she stood silently in front of Theresa’s

photograph for a while.

“Clarissa, I never would’ve expected Aunt Theresa to leave so suddenly. None of us expected this. I

texted you, but you never replied,” she said.

Damien had already deleted her WhatsApp message.

Clarissa had been mopping the floor. She was like a robot that would never tire. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

“Do you think something’s suspicious about Aunt Theresa’s death?” Connie continued.

Clarissa stilled.

She knew something was wrong with the whole thing. Though Damien admitted he’d killed Theresa, he

could’ve just been saying so to get at her. After all, she didn’t have any proof. “Do you want to take a

look at this?” Connie pulled her phone out and opened her photo album.

“What is this?” Clarissa saw that there were many people in the photo, and the environment looked

pretty messy.

“This is where Luke went gambling. Can you see him?” Then, Connie pointed at the person next to

Luke. “Do you see this guy?”

“What about him?” Clarissa felt that Connie was trying to lead her astray, so she tried not to fall for her

tricks.

“I’ll show you a video.” She played a video.

In the video, Damien was raging at a project manager. He even threw something at the guy’s

face.

“It’s the same person?” Clarissa was confused.

“Yes. Madelynn sent you this video before, but you didn’t watch it. This project manager is extremely

loyal to Damien, and he’s a master gambler. Luke lost his house to this guy, and I bet that it’s back in

Damien’s hands by now.” Connie added, “So, Luke was actually set up by Damien.”

Both Connie and Madelynn knew that it was impossible for Theresa’s death to be an accident. There

was already a wedge driven between Clarissa and Damien, so they wanted Luke to be the straw that

broke the camel’s back. “Have you only just found out about this? I’ve known about it for ages now.”

Clarissa forced out a smile. “Luke’s greed knows no end, and both my mom and I have been strongly

against this. Your news is a little outdated.”

“Really?” Connie watched her expression closely.

She felt that Clarissa had obviously just found out about this. She just didn’t want to show it.

“Of course.” Clarissa held her head up high. “So, you should keep your nose out of our business.”

“Clarissa!” This infuriated Connie. “You really don’t know what’s good for you!”

After that, Connie stormed off.
