Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 217

Chapter 217 She’d Married Such a Responsible Man! Clarissa’s gaze happened to sweep over a photo

of Theresa.

At that, she teared up again.

But the sorrow didn’t last for long.

She knew Damien had something to do with Theresa’s death. She couldn’t allow him to see her in so

much pain and sorrow.

That evening, Damien asked her, “What do you want to eat?”

“Anything’s fine.” She was seated at the bay window.

After he went into the kitchen, she sent a WhatsApp message to Joseph to ask him about Emily’s

parents. She also told him to reply to her by text and not to send her any voice messages.

Joseph: (You’ve finally replied to me. I was scared out of my wits.)

Clarissa: (I’m fine.)

Joseph: (Emily’s always known my father, but he’s never told me anything about her background, and

she’s always been quite mysterious. All this time, he’s told her to keep a low profile, but he hasn’t really

watched her for the past few years because she was living somewhere else. She only came back to

Genovia when she ran out of money. She wanted to extort my father, but he didn’t give her any money.)

Clarissa: (Is the apartment at Universal Gardens hers?]

Joseph: (I don’t know.)

Clarissa guessed that it was very likely for Emily to be the wicked Madam Zell’s daughter. The fact that

Patrick had kept addressing Theresa as “Madam Zell” was probably because Emily had addressed

Theresa as “Mom”.

Patrick had gone missing that day, and Damien went searching for him. It was possible that they were

all in the same apartment. There was no way Theresa had accidentally lost her footing, so she had to

have been pushed. If not by Damien, then by Patrick!

Patrick wanted to get revenge on Madam Zell. After all, she was the cause of his downfall.

It was unfortunate that Clarissa had passed out at that time. She hadn’t had the chance to go up to the

apartment to see what had happened. That neighborhood was pretty much abandoned. There were no

surveillance cameras around, and there were only a few occupied units.

Moreover, Damien had the ability to cover everything up. It was much too simple for him to

pull any strings at the police station, so she definitely wouldn’t be able to dig anything up there.

“The food’s ready. Come and eat,” Damien said.

“Okay.” Clarissa deleted the conversation with Joseph. “This is about as good as it gets.” He started

eating.

He had made mashed potatoes, chicken nuggets, and some pasta.

This was her first time eating something he had cooked.

She wasn’t even in the mood to eat.

“Not to your liking?” Damien asked. “It’s fine. Did you kill my mom, or did your father?” Clarissa asked

calmly as she pushed her food around on the plate.

Then, she raised her head and looked right into his eyes.

Damien immediately grabbed her by the jaw and forced out through gritted teeth, “What the hell are

you thinking, Clarissa?”

“Your father’s the one who did it, then. You’re just taking the blame for him! Just like how you bore his

burden all those years ago.” Her eyes never left his as she hissed out her words. “Your father mistook

my mom for Madam Zell. Emily addressing her as ‘Mom’ just made him that much surer. Am I right?”

Clarissa’s gaze was sharp and icy. These were things that had never appeared in her eyes before.

“Clarissa, you think you’re pretty clever, don’t you?” Damien said.

She turned her head away and broke free of his grip. “What’s the point? You’re a master of trickery, and

you’re so powerful and well-connected. Even if you admit it, I can’t do anything

to you!”

“He’s not here. I was the one who killed her. So what? I did it because she kept reminding him of

Madam Zell, making him even crazier than he already is!” He put his cutlery down forcefully and glared

at her.

He was talking about Patrick.

Now that Damien had admitted his crimes, Clarissa was at a loss for what to do. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

She simply felt miserable. However, she couldn’t do anything about it. Before this, she even thought

about having kids with Damien. The sweet memories from their past appeared in her mind. “What has

my mom ever done to you?! She kept telling me not to cause trouble for you and not to ask you for

money. She said the same to Luke, too. Is it because she was in the way of your plans?” Clarissa

shouted, furious and dejected.

Damien didn’t answer her. He merely continued eating.

“Damien Lawrence! She was my mother, the mother I’d waited for six years. Unlike you, I can’t be so

cruel to my parents. But of course, you’re only cruel to them on the surface. Who doesn’t love their

parents?” She smiled bitterly. The fact Damien said he had killed her mother for his father’s sake was

proof enough that despite his hatred and resentment for Patrick’s cowardice, he would still do whatever

he could to help Patrick Perhaps she should be glad for having married such a responsible man!

“I kept trying to mend you and your parents’ relationship, but what have you done to my family?”

Clarissa’s eyes were red. She slammed her cutlery down on the table and went to the bedroom.

After locking the door, she couldn’t hear any noise from outside anymore. Soon, Damien kicked the

door down. She didn’t open her eyes. She was full of regret for what had happened during the team

building

Clarissa wished with all her heart that stop herself from ever getting to know Damien. She didn’t want

to have anything to do with him!

He could do whatever he wanted with Steven’s eyes. No matter how warm his embrace was, she didn’t

want to sink into his arms anymore.
