Chapter 275
Admiration
Sophia nodded and grew increasingly curious. At the thought of Harper's instructions, she guessed it was probably true.
Sophia was as shocked as if knowing some big secret, but she couldn't tell it.
Harper stood in silence in the office for a while before walking out and knocking on Frank's office.
At the sight of her, Frank immediately smiled, "Is everything going well at the construction site?"
"Yes, everything is going well."
Harper nodded and noticed Frank's low mood and his forced smile.
She asked, "Did Michelle come to the office to cause trouble again?"
The smile on Frank's face disappeared completely, leaving only melancholy. He said yes softly and added, "She suspected that I had a girlfriend, which annoyed her."
"Did you meet that girl last time?"
Harper saw her back last time in the coffee shop.
"Yes." Frank nodded and said, "Do you think it's because of my identity that I am always inferior to her?"
Harper frowned. "No! Everyone is equal. Despite being adopted by the Parker family, you have made a lot of contributions to them."
He didn't owe the Parker family. Instead, he and the Parker family benefited from each other.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
In spite of his adoption into the Parker family, he had dedicated himself to assisting the family's company since high school. However, the Parker family had been unilaterally on guard against him and worried that he would attempt a takeover. This led him to seek refuge in Mayby alongside Harper.
Frank sighed and smiled faintly, "Harper, in fact, I also understand how precious the Parker family's kindness in raising me is. Yet, Michelle, whom I have always treated as a sister, actually called me a dog. You can imagine what kind of existence I am in the Parker family. Maybe everyone has such an idea."
He had taken care of Michelle since she was a child. Before he came to Mayby, she was almost inseparable from him No matter what happened, he would be the first to deal with it. But now, all he got in return was the response that he was an adopted dog.
Frank smiled coldly and became even more gloomy.
Harper furrowed her eyebrows and said in a low voice, "Frank, that's not the case. Emotions probably overwhelmed her when Michelle said that. She probably cares too much about you. She..." The more Harper spoke, the more she felt something was wrong. Her speech suddenly stopped.
Frank looked up at her. "What's wrong?"
"Does she like you? Is that why she refuses other women to get too close to you?"
It suddenly dawned on Harper why Michelle was so hostile to her. This was the only reason that could make sense.
Harper glanced at Frank. He didn't seem surprised at all. Instead, it was as if he had known about it for a long time. Harper whispered, "Are you aware of that?"
"Yes, she's expressed it to me a few times, but never took it seriously. I thought it was just the admiration of a little girl and that it wouldn't
happen again when she grew up and matured."
"Did you not refuse her? If you don't like her and only regard her as a sister, you should have made it clear earlier. Otherwise, she will think you are giving her a chance."
Harper didn't talk much about that. After all, this was Frank's private matter. As a friend, she could only remind him with a few words.
She pondered, "However, he suddenly met the woman in the coffee shop last time. How did Michelle learn about it?
Did he intentionally let it slip to Michelle?"
