Chapter 157: Were You Crazy About Men?
For a moment neither of them spoke.
Bonnie's phone on the desk rang.
Yanis patted Bonnie. "Answer the phone first."
Bonnie grunted and reached for her phone.
It was from Haider.
Bonnie was shocked when she saw the screen. Although Haider was Myles' older brother, he rarely
called her.
After some hesitation, Bonnie pressed the answer button and said, "Haider."
"Bonnie, something's wrong with Myles. Do you want to check on him?"
Bonnie was visibly startled and said, "Haider, is Myles up to some kind of game?"
After all, Myles was an ex-con in Bonnie's mind.
Haider sounded serious. "Not this time," he said.
Bonnie suddenly got alert. "Which hospital?"
"No. 1 Hospital, sixth floor, inpatient department."
Bonnie answered ok and hung hangs up. Then she sat at her desk for a while in a daze.
"Bonnie?" Yanis looked at Bonnie whose face turned pale.
It took a while for Bonnie to respond. But before she could speak, her tears began to fall.
Yanis panicked. "Bonnie, what's wrong?"
Bonnie was crying while answering, "Myles... Something's wrong with him."
By the time Yanis and Bonnie arrived at the hospital, it was half an hour later.
Yanis got also nervous after seeing Bonnie's anxious face. She bumped into someone's car on the
way. Luckily, they were nice people and two good-looking women, so she settled it with some cash on
the spot.
Yanis parked the car, got out of the car, and opened the door for Bonnie. "Bonnie, here we are."
Bonnie groaned, tried to get out of the car, and was strangled back by the safety belt.
Yanis watched as she lost her mind and helped her unlock the seat belt. "Slow down. Did Haider tell
you what floor Myles is on?"
Bonnie nodded.
Myles came out of the room just as she arrived at the door.
She stopped walking when she saw Bonnie and Yanis. "You arrived."
Bonnie nodded. "Haider, is Myles okay?"
"He's out of danger now. He just woke up. I'm going to get him some food." Haider looked over to
Bonnie. "Did you eat? If not, I'll buy something for you too."
Bonnie shook her head. "You go get for Myles. I'm going to check on him."
Haider nodded.
"Haider, I'm a little hungry, I'll come with you," Yanis called Haider and looked over to Bonnie. "You go
inside first, I'll come back later."
Bonnie didn't say anything, then entered the ward.
As Bonnie walked through the door, Yanis turned to Haider. "Haider, you go get some food. I'll be
outside for a minute."
Haider knew that what Yanis said before was because she didn't want to disturb Myles and Bonnie, so
she made up an excuse.
Haider didn't insist. He said ok and walked away.
Yanis left Bonnie and Myles alone and sat down on a chair in the hallway.
Inside the ward.
Bonnie looked at Myles lying on the bed with no color on his face. Before she could say anything, her
eyes turn red.
"Bonnie," he said.
Bonnie was standing next to the bed looking at Myles in the bed, and she couldn't help but cry.
When Myles reached out to help her wipe the tears, Bonnie turned her head away. "What happened?"
Myles chuckled. "I fell."
Bonnie raised her hand, trying to hit him. Seeing his twisted arm, she didn't punch him but only poked
him.
"That hurts!" Myles gently held Bonnie's hand. "It didn't hurt before, but it starts to hurt when I see you."
Bonnie glared at him.
Myles took Bonnie's hand and put it on his chest. "It hurts to see you cry."
In the end, Bonnie burst into tears and tried to hug Myles, but she didn't want to touch his wound.
Instead, she stood by the bed and cried quietly.
"Bonnie, don't cry. It's gonna to kill me." All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
Bonnie raised her hand and wiped away her tears. "You deserve all the pain."
Bonnie knew exactly what Myles was involved in, but it was hard to get out.
"Can you stop hanging out with them?" Bonnie's eyes were still wet with tears.
"Bonnie said no, so I will stop hanging out with them, ok?"
Bonnie didn't respond to that but asked, "where else did you hurt yourself?"
"That's it."
Of course, Bonnie felt awful. "What happened to your arm that the doctor saved you from danger?"
Myles paused and reached over to wipe Bonnie's tears. "It's all right now, isn't it?"
Bonnie remained silent, but her tears never dried.
When Haider got back, Bonnie went to the bathroom to wash her face, then she took the spoon from
Haider. "Haider, I got it."
Haider nodded and handed Bonnie the bowl and spoon.
Looking at the bowl of white porridge, Bonnie sniffed again. "Do you have a stomach on your arms?"
Myles lost his words. "..."
Myles didn't answer.
Then he opened his mouth and said, "Bonnie, I'm hungry."
Bonnie sulkily filled his mouth with hot porridge without cooling it first.
"Bonnie, do you want to burn me to death?"
Then Bonnie realized it was too hot, she took it back and blew. "Open your mouth!"
Yanis and Haider stood by watching. Then they left the room.
"Let me take you home. Bonnie's not gonna leave."
"It's okay. I drove Bonnie's car here. I'll drive back."
Myles nodded. "I'll walk you down."
Yanis didn't say no.
They walked side by side toward the elevator.
When they arrived at the elevator, the cleaning woman was mopping the floor. The ground was wet and
Yanis slipped, and almost fell.
Haider quickly reached out his hand to help Yanis. "Be careful."
Yanis was in shock. "I wasn't watching my steps."
Just then the elevator arrived and Lucia happened to see what was happening.
Yanis whispered, "thank you," to Haider, not noticing the person in the elevator.
Yanis got back on her feet, then Haider took his hand back.
When Yanis was turning around, she got slapped. Lucia slapped her so hard that Yanis's ears popped
for a split second.
The loud slap even echoed in the hallway.
Haider knew Lucia, of course, but Lucia did not know Haider.
"Yanis, how can you be so shameless, trying to seduce a man in the daytime in public? Are you crazy
about men?"
When Yanis heard Lucia's scolding voice, the tinnitus in her ear became smaller. She raised her eyes
and looked at her coldly. She wanted to slap her back, but she didn't. She said angrily, "yes, I am crazy
about men. What does that have to do with you, Mrs. Lawrence?"
