Accidentally Married

Branch Twenty Four

It had been Jessica’s lifelong dream to own her restaurant and be the master chef. She had been saving for it but every time she gets a good amount her aunt came out of nowhere to take all the money from her. She couldn’t believe her ears.

“I don’t have that kind of money,” Jessica said.

She just barely finished paying off her student loan and it was barely up to two months since her aunt had come to get money from her. She was as poor as anyone could be.

The remaining money she could spare was what she used to get a dress and flowers for the wedding.

“Why would you think that I would suggest a restaurant and make you pay the cost?” Xavier asked in bewilderment.

“Wait are you saying you’ll pay the full cost?” Jessica asked also shocked.

“Yes Jessica” Xavier replied.

His eyes glanced at the time on the car dashboard. He needed to get to work.

“Can we talk over it after dinner?” Xavier asked her.

He was late and needed to be on his way. If he went on with her then he could be there another two hours.

“Are you going to come home for dinner?” Jessica asked.

She had been eating alone and she needed a partner knowing the kind of person Xabier was she didn’t want to get her hopes up.

“Sure, have the staff prepare something light” he responded.

“I’ll make it myself to show my gratitude to you for saving me from the hands of the trolls and lazy internet people who know nothing but make others feel bad about living,” Jessica said.

Xavier looked at her she smiled to herself so happily. It meant that she was happy to cook. Xavier etc could not tell if she was happy to just be cooking or if she was happy to be cooking for him.

“I’ll make something very delicious,” Jessica said with enthusiasm. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“Okay then”

“Be home early okay so we can have enough time to eat and allow it to digest before bed” Jessica said leaning back onto the chair.

“I need to go to work now too,” Xavier said.

“Okay then, I’ll get going now, see you later,” Jessica said opening the for and going out.

Xavier changed his seat to the owner’s corner at the back while a driver came to drive him.

Jessica stood there until she could no longer see the rear of the car. She did not know why Xavier was all of a sudden interested in her meal by it made her feel better about him as a person.

Jessica went back into the house and decided to freshen up before she began to prepare for her five-course meal which she would personally rate seven stars.

She was overjoyed to be making a proper meal for her husband. She began to think of a possibility because of what Dawson had said.

Maybe one day Xavier would warm up to her. But could she do it within a year?

Jessica had all the food in small dishes and instructed the house staff on kitchen duty to only set the table when Xavier gets back. She went upstairs and freshened up. She wore something casual and just moisturized her skin and put on some lip balm to avoid breaking her lips.

She came back downstairs and went to the main sitting room. Ever since she got to the house she had barely watched anything on television. She glanced at the clock on the wall and it was almost seven o’clock.

Dinner was meant to at least be eaten by then so they don’t have a lot to battle with in terms of digestion. Although Xavier did not call to say he would be late Jessica thought as much as he had been late ever since she started living there.

She sat on one of the sofas that would give her a good look at the television and enough vision point to see who passes by the corridor. The thought of owning her company made her yearn to see him.

She put on the television and put it on one of the soap opera channels. She began to watch absent-mindedly as her ears were fully fixated on the door waiting for him to be back.

Xavier entered the house and immediately his eyes fell on Jessica’s small body on the couch. He had tried to finish up early since he was the one who suggested dinner. She was sleeping, she must have been tired.

He left her there and went ahead to freshen up. He didn’t take so much time so they could have their dinner and she could get into bed. That position must be taking a toll on her body.

He came back down and stood in front of her. He stretched his hand to wake her but froze. His hands could not go further to touch her so he turned and went to get a house staff to help wake her up.

She did not know when she fell into a deep slumber.

“Young Lady” a soft voice called out to her.

She opened her eyes slowly to see one of the house staff crouched to her level shaking her gently. Her eyes drifted up to Xavier standing there. She could not tell how long she had slept but it was obvious that he had freshened up as his hair was wet from the shower he took.

The staff stood up and bowed to them both when she saw that Jessica was now awake. She left quickly to the kitchen where she had been. Jessica was happy to see Xavier because of the beautiful conversation that lied ahead for them both but she wondered by he couldn’t wake her up himself.

Why did he have to ask the staff to do it? She suppressed all the thoughts that might affect the happiness she was about to encounter deep into her heart and stood up to him.

She rubbed her eyes gently and steadied her feet and smiled at him.

“I am so sorry I am late, had a lot to do at work” Xavier apologized.

Although he did not need to apologize he did so anyway and Jessica was grateful for that.

“Oh it’s no problem, I thought I will wait for you while watching some drama but I was too tired to keep my eyes open” Jessica replied yawning.

If what they were about to discuss was not so important to her she would have ignored the dinner and gone to bed but this could shape her future and even determine the course of her life after the divorce.

“Shall we?” She said walking and pointing toward the direction of dining table.

Xavier nodded and followed her.
