1112 An Invitation
1112 An Invitation
The consequences Arabella would have to bear in the future made her head ache. She needed
someone to share the burden with, but she could figure out the right person.
She was afraid and nervous. The more she thought about it, the more she felt that something was
wrong.
For the first time, she felt so desperate.
Maximilian read her mind, but he didn't give him an opinion immediately.
Liliana smiled and mocked, "You have no option now. Don't you regret it?"
Arabella knew that it was Liliana who had set her up. She was so mad, but she didn't dare to say
anything. She had come to a desperate situation where nobody would be willing to help her.
Moreover, Maximilian was with Liliana now. If Arabella took any action against Liliana now, that would
only hurt her.
Arabella regretted it so much. She would never be so mean and vicious if she had known she would
end up like this.
Maximilian said indifferently, "You can also give them ownership of the company to someone else, and
let the person be the scapegoat.
Arabella rolled her eyes when she heard those words. She thought Maximilian was being too naive.
She would kill for that opportunity, only if there was someone who would be willing to take on this
tremendous mess from her.
There wouldn't be such nice things, she thought.
"Stop teasing me," Arabella looked at Maximilian with the anger of flames in her eyes. She thought
Maximilian was making fun of her.
Maximilian shrugged and said, "I can help you, but you need to give the ownership of the company to
us."
As soon as Arabella heard him and wanted to agree, she finally realized that she had been set up by
the two. She gritted her teeth and said, "It was you two who set this trap for me, isn't it?"
She realized that they were fooling her around, trying to deceive her together.
Maximilian smiled and said, "So what? You deserved it."
Arabella almost passed out because of anger. She didn't want to give in, but the company had to be
transferred because she need the money. She felt it hard to make the decision.
Liliana felt so glad to see Arabella being so angry and helpless. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
"Okay, I will give it to you."
Arabella originally thought the company would be a life-changer for her, but it turned out to have
changed her life in all bad ways.
Liliana was so excited to sign the agreement. She was finally in charge of her own company again.
This was just what she wanted.
Arabella left the company, flustered.
Those fence-sitters could wait to court Liliana as soon as they knew Liliana was in charge of the
company again.
Liliana was tolerant. She didn't get back on these people because of what they had done in the old
days.
The staff were deeply touched. Earlier on, they were worried that Liliana would be mean to them, and
now they felt ashamed when seeing Liliana's tolerance.
Liliana wanted to thank Maximilian. She invited him to dinner.
Maximilian was going to refuse her invitation in the first place, because he didn't want to go out with
other women. However, Liliana kept coxing and pestering, and Maximilian finally accepted the
invitation.
Liliana didn't know about much of his background, which had made it easier.
Maximilian then agreed to have dinner with her.
Liliana took Maxmilian to a very fancy restaurant.
The restaurant was packed with people, most of whom were super-rich. They showed disdainful smiles
when they saw Maximilian's clothes because the young man looked poor.
Maximilian ignored their gaze. He had seen plenty of those eyes in the past and almost got used to it.
He couldn't care less,
Liliana was surprised at how calm he was. Her eyes lit up.
They found a place to sit and called the waiter to come over. The waiter didn't even look at Maximilian,
his eyes were fixed on Liliana.
He was deeply attracted by her and couldn't move his eyes from her. Actually, that was what most men
would do.
Liliana didn't care, because she had seen that a lot. She was a very confident woman. As she finished
ordering, she passed the menu to Maximilian and said, "Just order whatever you like. It's my treat
today."
The waiter looked at Maximilian with a different gaze as soon as he heard that. He thought Maximilian
was one of those men who depended on their wife.
"Another kept man?" The waiter murmured.
Maximilian smiled and didn't say anything, as if he hadn't heard it.
Liliana was a bit angry to see Maximilian being insulted because he just did her a huge favor. She cast
a sullen glance at the waiter and said, "Watch your mouth. He's my friend."
The waiter shut his mouth when seeing her angry face, but he still looked down upon Maximilian.
Maximilian ordered a few dishes and said, "That's it."
The waiter took the menu back and left.
Liliana was staring at Maximilian, which made him a bit shy. He asked, "What?"
He scratched his head and looked so confused.
Liliana laughed, "I heard you are the son-in-law of Griffth Family and you live with your wife's parents,
is that so?"
"Yeah." Maximilian nodded.
Liliana soon realized that the question was a bit disrespectful. She explained, "Please don't get me
wrong... I'm just curious why would a talented young man like you humble yourself to be married into
that family and live with your wife's parents... or to what do they owe this honor?"
Maximilian did admire how frank Liliana was, but she didn't want to tell her much about it because he
didn't want to recall those memories.
"That's a secret. Sorry that I can't tell you." Maximilian apologized.
Liliana nodded and quit questioning. She propped her chin in her palms and said, "I respect you, and I
admire Victoria. You had such a privileged background, but you always kept so humble."
"You can be with me if you envy her." Maximilian teased her.
Liliana flushed and threatened him, "I'll tell her what you just said."
"I know you wouldn't do that." Maximilian shrugged. He seemed not afraid at all.
Liliana rolled her eyes at him. She felt a bit bored.
"What is your relationship with the Dragon Sect?" Liliana suddenly asked.
