Chapter2

Leo’s face turned red under Sofia’s few threatening words.

Nearby, some teachers whispered, “Sofia’s mom? Leo was unlucky to run into her.”

“Yes. Even if you’re right, there’s no way to explain yourself with her.”

My reputation at the school was in tatters, all thanks to my lying daughter.

She didn’t want to do her homework.

“My mom says I have to endure hardship to be successful. I even have to pay to eat at home. If I don’t have money, I do laundry or mop the floor to pay off my debt,” she said.

“After I finished all the chores, I was so tired that I fell asleep without writing more than a few words,” she added.

“Sorry, teacher,” she said.

She slept in class.

“Last night, Mom brought a strange man home. It was so noisy that I couldn’t sleep well,” she explained.

She hit someone but came home crying to me, complaining.

“She tried to take my bracelet. When I wouldn’t give it to her, she hit me,” she said.

I rushed to the school in anger and had a big argument with the other

parent.

My husband, Mason Jones, passed away early. Raising a child alone made me develop this fierce temper.

I had never lost an argument.

Because of this, Sofia became the pitiful child at school. I was worse than an evil stepmother.

This was all in my previous life. After Sofia’s false accusations against the teacher were exposed, I heard about it from her classmates. Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

Leo explained anxiously, “Mrs. Jones, I did ask Sofia to come to my office alone, but it was only to help her with some questions.”

“But then Sofia…,” Leo hesitated. “She insisted I divorce my wife and marry her when she turns eighteen.”

I told her to go back to class. Nothing else happened,” he added.

As soon as Leo said that, even he started to question his own life.

It did not sound believable at all.

But I did not doubt that Sofia could say something like that.

I bowed deeply to Leo. I did it for the past and for this life.

“So that’s how it was. I really misunderstood you,” I said.

Leo was surprised. He hurried over to help me.

Everyone in the office could not help but look up at me. They were shocked by my sudden change.

Sofia was the first to react. Her pitch suddenly rose by eight degrees. She blurted out, “Are you crazy? I talked for so long and believe me, but you believe him after a few words?

I looked up and gave her a forced smile. “I didn’t believe anyone, of course,” I said.

Sofia was frightened by my stare. I continued, “When the police arrive, they will give us the truth.”

“Will the police arrest Leo and send him to jail?” she asked.

I thought seriously for a moment. “Yes, the police will arrest the person who lied and send them to jail,” I said.

After being scared by me, she hesitated a bit. “Leo is usually pretty nice. I don’t want him to go to jail,” she said.

“Mom, can we not call the police?” she asked.

I answered firmly, “No, we have to do the right thing today, and I must help you get justice.”

Leo saw that I was reasonable. He looked at me with gratitude and said, “Thank you for understanding me.”

I worried about more trouble arising. I emphasized, “I truly didn’t know what my daughter said today. I’m sorry for causing you trouble, Mr. Garcia.”

“When the police arrive, we will listen to everything they say,” I said.

“If my daughter lied, I will make her apologize to you,” I said.

Seeing that I distanced myself early, my daughter looked at me in disbelief.

She wanted to say something more. Just then, the police arrived.
