Chapter 96
Chapter of Hh Car
Tesa hurried toward the kitchen.
Main Jen an embarracond smile. “Don’t pay any mind to what Aunt Tess said.
Nigel's smile froze slightly. “Well, | quite like what she said.
Pretending not to have heard him, Maia said, “Make yourself comfortable I'll get you something to drink.” She headed toward the sideboard.
Nigel walked down the hallway into the living room.
At that moment, Errol emerged from his bedroom.
‘Hey, Nigel,” Errol gestured with a smile. “Aunt Tess loved your gift so much she posted a photo of it on Instagram. She even cooked several more dishes just for your sake, you know.”
Knowing a bit of sign language, Nigel understood what he meant.
“She's too kind.”
After Nigel took his seat, Maia handed him a drink. “Here you go. I'll go help my aunt.”
“Thanks, Maia,” Nigel nodded at her.
Maia then went to the kitchen and washed her hands before starting to help Tess.
Tess asked, “Maia, have you guys started dating yet?”
Caught off guard, Maia asked, “Dating? Why would we?”
“Nigel has always been by your side and has done so much for you. Don’t tell me you don’t have any feelings for him?” Maia said helplessly, “I told you it’s not going to happen, Aunt Tess. I-”
“Why not? You're both single and available! You two would make such a great pair, you know.” Tess had high hopes for Nigel. “Aunt Tess...” Maia was frustrated. “I’ve come back to Solisar to carry out my plan-”
Tess interrupted, “I know you’ve come back to investigate your mom's death and to take your revenge on Rita and Zera, but you've almost reached your goal, haven't you?
“We've found
ut that Yvette was the murderer, and Zera’s career is ruined thanks to all the scandal. The only one left to take down is Rita. Besides, if you marry Nigel, he’s only going to help you, right?”
Before Mass could cut in, Tere contrend, “su metuar of you're a divorced woman? You deserve to love and to be lerend again, don’t you?”
Well, I’m grateful that Nigel has been there for me all these years, but don’t love him. Howe can prou and save to marry someone | do not love?
She went on “I know you're going to say that feelings can develop over time, but I’ve known him for so many years, and | don’t feel a thing for him. | can’t just choose to be with him out of gratitude. That would be unfair to him, and it would be irresponsible of me.
“If not a wonderful man like Nigel, whom will you fall in love with? Don’t tell me you still have feelings for Cedric?” As Tess cooked, she said, “Don’t make the same mistake twice. You know how he treated you, not to mention that his entire family is a bunch of assholes!”
Did she still have feelings for Cedric? How was that possible?
Maia frowned and said, “It’s not like that, all right? All | care about is the business. It’s what
matters the most to me now.”
“Your private life should be a priority, too.” Tess lifted the lid to check the chicken soup and looked around the kitchen. “What are you looking for?” Maia said as she tried to change the subject.
“Scallions. | thought | picked some.”
“I'll go pick some more from the balcony.”
Using this as an excuse, Maia quickly left the kitchen and headed to the balcony. There were several pots of scallions growing there. After picking a few stalks, Maia rose and saw that the window was open.
As she closed it, she saw a familiar—looking car downstairs and nearly dropped the scallions. Was that Cedric’s car? Maia quickly shut the window and lowered the balcony shade. “The sun is down. Why have you lowered the shade, Maia?” Errol saw what she was doing and gestured, puzzled.
Maia said awkwardly, “The weather is good today, so the moonlight could be too bright.”
Errol was bewildered.
“Come on. Go help Aunt Tess set the table.” She patted his shoulder and hurried toward the
kitchen.
Errol quickly went after her and did as he was told. Maia passed the scallions to her aunt and headed toward the bathroom. She quickly shut the bathroom door and checked her phone. There were no messages.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Thinking so, Maia pocketed her phone.
Back in the dining area, she took her seat and picked up a soda to drink. Enjoying it, thought it was perfect for the hot summer day
