Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 8

He spoke coldly and walked away without hesitation. The Rolls-Royce soon sped off and vanished into the rain. Maia’s smile grew even more bitter. ‘I had it coming? Am | that evil to him? He only came to humiliate me, didn’t he?’

Pain radiated from her lower abdomen, and warm blood soaked her hospital gown. Unable to tell where she was hurting anymore, she felt blood was draining out from her.

She was in so much pain that her whole body went numb. Experiencing a second significant bleeding, she was rushed to the hospital and wheeled into the operating room.

Although Errol was beaten, he could recover sooner because he was young. Maia, however, just had a miscarriage and was weak to begin with.

She had nearly lost her life due to excessive blood loss.

When she woke up, her beautiful face was deathly pale. To make matters worse, the Larkins had officially announced her divorce from Cedric.

She could feel nothing but despair. With the announcement, there could be no turning back for them.

Maia chuckled bitterly as she thought, ‘You still hoped he won't divorce you, huh? How could you be so stupid? ‘When you lost the child and tried to convince him that Rita was the culprit, he didn’t believe you.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

‘When you wanted him to save you back in the winery, he humiliated you further by brushing you off.

‘You've loved him for 11 years, but what have you gotten in return? Nothing. Not even memories.’

Maia could no longer hold back her tears. She tried to pull herself together, but the more she did so, the more she couldn’t control her emotions.

Someone knocked on the door to the ward. Wiping tears off her cheeks, she tried to calm herself down.

Asuited man in leather shoes walked up to Maia with a gentle look. Maia knew it was not Cedric. However, she could not help wishing he would visit her after the divorce.

“Look what I’ve brought you.” Nigel Clayton was a famous lawyer who used to be her mother’s right-hand man.

Judging by its packaging, Maia could tell it was her favorite red velvet cake.

“Thanks, Nigel.” Maia squeezed out a smile. “Don’t mention it.” Nigel put the box of cake before her. “Dig in. | waited in line for an hour for this.” Unlike Cedric, who was cold-hearted, Nigel was warm and gentle. Even so, he was not the one she loved.

Although the red velvet cake was her favorite treat, she had no appetite. She used to enjoy the cake because of its sweetness, but now it seemed bitter.

They fell into silence.

After a moment, Nigel said, “Maia, after what he’s done, you still can’t get over him, can you? Were you expecting to see him instead of me?”
