Chapter 144
“Really? | get to have some cookies?” Hans smiled brightly. “Ofc course, I'll make sure that you have an endless supply of them.”
“Nope, that won't do.” Hans immediately shook his head. “How would you be able to have children with Cedric if you have to keep baking for me? That would be such a tedious task for you.”
Whatever doubts she had disappeared as Hans had showed her that his memory was quite foggy indeed. She did not know what to say as Hans continued to nag at them.
“Maia, when are you going to have a child with Cedric?”
“| heard the housekeepers talk about their grandchildren the other day. Even Fernando has a really cute granddaughter who is really talented in singing and dancing!”
“| know that both of you are busy with your careers. However, you’ve been married for a few years now, it’s time to have children.‘
“| kept telling Cedric that we already have enough money. There’s no need to keep working.”

“Look at me. I’m not getting any younger now. | really don’t know if I'll be able to see my great-grandchildren or not.”
As Maia continued to listen to his nagging, she could not help but feel sad. She could not even bring herself to tell him about the news that both she and Cedric had been divorced for a year now. They would never have a child together.
“Grandpa, don’t worry. You’re still healthy, I’m sure you'll have many more years ahead of you!” “You're right! | won’t leave until I’ve seen my great-grandchildren!” Hans laughed. Maia just smiled in response. They had a child once, but it was gone as she had not managed to protect her baby.
Cedric frowned at the look on Maia’s face and promised his grandfather. “Don’t worry. You'll have a great—-grandchild in the future,”
Cedric knew what he had just promised was not easy to achieve. Maia had been hurt badly. from their relationship. He knew that if he were to get Maia back, it would not be an easy journey. He only had himself to blame for this turn of events!
However, he believed that she would come back to him one day. He would do anything and everything in his power to show her how much he loved her!
When it was finally dinner time, the dining table at the manor was filled with different kinds. of dishes.
Hans nodded his head in satisfaction as he commended the kitchen for their effort. “Looks like they did a good job tonight. All of the dishes looked yummy!”

After dinner, Mala went into the kitchen to bake her cookies for Hans.
Beverley Manor was a beautiful place, especially in the evening. The place was illuminated. with warm orange lights and the lake in the middle added a scenic view to the manor with a beautiful lakeside hut to finish the touch.
Hans was a fan of lakes, so he wanted his manor to look like it was built by a lake. As the evening skies gave way to the night, Hans started to play some of his favorite music as he enjoyed the cookies made by Mala.
Cedric obviously had no interest in any form of leisure as he was busy working on his laptop. He was going through his work emails, checking them for any important updates.
He stopped reading through them when he came across an email sent by Baz.
‘Mr. Cedric. We've just found out that Ms. Maia is planning to buy Nebula Entertainment. According to our marketing team, Starlight Entertainment had already sent their marketing and legal teams over for discussions.
‘Ms. Maia has also look into different prospects of purchasing the company. She seems determined to purchase Nebula Entertainment.
‘However, this purchase may not be the best idea as Nebula Entertainment will not be much of an asset to Starlight Entertainment. They have been depending solely on Hope Warren as their main source of income for years.
‘I've also dug deeper into why Starlight Entertainment chose to purchase Nebula Entertainment. I’ve found out that it was because of Hope's contract dispute with her
company. Ms. Maia was probably trying to help her sister.’
Baz also attached a large file in the email. There were photographs of Starlight Entertainment staff entering and exiting Nebula Entertainment, as well as a draft of their purchasing contract.
After studying the email thoroughly, Cedric closed his laptop and walked toward the garden. with his cellphone...
Baz answered as soon as he called.
“Yes, boss?”
“| want you to help Starlight Entertainment with their purchase.”
“You mean to make sure the deal goes smoothly?”
“Yes, and | want you to let the public know that the reason why Starlight Entertainment did this was solely because of profit.” +15 BONUS
Chapter 144 What Did | Do?
“Mr. Larkin, you should really watch what you eat,” Fernando said.
“Don’t you think I’d know my own body well? All you ever do is nag. | know that | have several illnesses, you don’t have to keep reminding me!” Hans looked at Fernando in annoyance.
Fernando could only remain silent as he knew how stubborn Hans could be.
“Grandpa, Fernando is only doing what’s best for you,” Maia said, patiently. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“Fine, fine. | know that you're only looking out for me.”
Fernando only smiled. He knew that was as much of an apology as he’d get from Hans.
Moments later, Hans passed a dish over to Cedric and told him to have some. “This is good for your health, especially if you want to have a baby soon!”
Hans continued to fill up Cedric’s plate with food that he deemed useful in increasing their chances of having a baby.
As Cedric looked at his full plate, he could only frown. Did his grandfather think that it was his fault that they’re not producing an heir for the family?
Maia could not help but lowered her head and smirk as she witnessed this exchange. Cedric noticed that she was enjoying the show and decided not to let her have all the fun.
“Grandpa, if you keep feeding me, Maia would not be able to handle it.” Cedric commented casually as if he was talking about the weather.
Maia choked on her food as she heard this. She was partially surprised at the man sitting next to her. Was he the same Cedric Larkin that she had known? She was shocked at his audacity.
“Honey, you should be careful.” Cedric said as he stroked her back gently trying to calm her
down.
Maia lifted her head and glared at him. He was the reason why she had choked in the first place.
When Maia tried to move away from his touch. Hans opened his mouth and asked, “If you’re that good, why do | still not have any great—grandchildren?”
Maia tensed up as she was feeling exhausted from this conversation. Why was Hans so fixated on having great-grandchildren?
She e wanted so badly to tell him that she and Cedric were already divorced and that they would not have anything to do with each other anymore.
However, whenever she tried to bring it up, she would just end up swallowing her words as +15 BONUS grandchildren.
“Judging from experience, the main issue here is that the both of you are just too busy! Why don’t you stay here tonight? I'll get Fernando and the other housekeepers to prepare a guest room for you!”
Maia widened her eyes as she was taken aback by the suggestion. When she was about to reject the offer, Cedric replied, “Sure, why not. We should spend more time with you too.”
Maia turned and looked at him in frustration. How could he just agree on her behalf? Maia wanted nothing more than to smack him on the head.
Cedric glanced directly at her murderous gaze and smiled brightly as he ruffled her hair gently, “Don’t be shy, I’m sure grandpa will understand.”
Maia was so mad. She could not help but curse at him inwardly. How could he take advantage of her? What an asshole! Maia tried to calm herself by gulping down the glass of juice in front of her.
When she had finally managed to calm down, she turned to Hans and smiled, “Grandpa, | think we shouldn’t trouble you. Besides, Prismara Hill is just a stone’s throw away. There’s no need to go through all the trouble to prepare a room for us.”
“Don't worry. It’s no trouble at all. Right, Fernando?” Hans looked at Fernando with at warning gaze. It was as if he was saying that if Fernando dared disagree, he would make his life hell!
At the same time, Maia looked at Fernando pleadingly. She was trying her best to get him to agree that it was just too troublesome to prepare a guest room.
Unfortunately, Fernando had already received a warning glance from Hans. Besides, he really wanted Cedric and Maia to get back together. He chose to ignore Maia’s pleading message.
“If Mr. Larkin thinks that it's no trouble, then it’s no trouble at all.” Fernando smiled and gave a perfect reply.
“See, Maia, | told you so! We're a family, so don’t worry about intruding. Just stay the night here. Maybe after tonight, you'll be able to have a baby! If you insist on rejecting my request, | will probably end up crying.”
There was nothing more Maia could say. She noticed that Cedric was smiling brightly, and she wanted nothing more than to wipe the grin off his face. It was a smile that meant his plan had succeeded.
He knew that she could not tell Hans the truth, so he took advantage of that! She was so angry but there was nothing she could do. So, she kicked him hard under the table.

“Honey, what did | do?” Instead of yelping, he just questioned her with an innocent face. “Nothing.” Maia gritted her teeth and replied. She could only take out her anger on the food in front of her as she stabbed her steak with force.
“Then, why did you kick me?”
Maia was surprised that he would question her outright, and with such an innocent tone. Instead of giving him a response, she just continued to stab her steak harder.
Hans smiled at their exchange as he commented, “I’m sure she was just teasing you! Looks like I'll be able to have a great— grandchild real soon, right, Fernando?”
“Of course. I’m sure we'll be able to welcome a baby soon!” Fernando replied cheerily as Maia continued to eat her dinner in silence.
