Chapter 130
Chapter 130 She'll Forever be My Queen. “Do you think I'd let some random man to touch you?”
Maia wanted to remove her foot from his knee as she could feel the glances coming from around her. She could not help but curl her toes in embarrassment.
Cedric smiled at her reflex as he removed the heels from the dust bag. “Relax.” If it was not for the fact that they were in public, she would have kicked him already!
When he finally finished putting the heels on her feet, he looked straight into her eyes and smiled lovingly. His eyes sparkled as though they had a galaxy of stars in them.
Maia stood up with a frown as people around them started to clap. Her dress and her shoes made her the exact fit for tonight’s theme. All that was missing was just an embrace from a lover.
Before their fantasy became a reality, Maia quickly moved away from Cedric and this reaction disappointed everyone in the room.
It was obvious now that Cedric had an unrequited love for his ex-wife. It was also fascinating to see someone of his status being rejected.
Cedric was not upset at all. Instead, he continued to look at her gently and announced, “Maia would forever be my queen!”
At that moment, all the lights in the hall shone on them. Everything else around them fell into darkness. Maia grabbed her gown tightly as she felt herself exposed under his intense gaze.
There was a time in her life when she would have braced the strongest storms to move closer to him, seeking for his protection.
However, in the end, she finally understood that he was the root of all the turmoil. He was always ahead, at a safe destination, while she was still battling all odds to reach him.
Ironically, when she had finally moved on, he kept appearing as her savior. As long as she was willing, he would appear anytime, anywhere.
Yet, she no longer needed to be saved. She was a different woman now. She could fight her own battles. She did not need him anymore.
She had once prayed desperately for this to be her reality, but it was too late now. This was not something she wanted anymore. Maia smiled forlornly as she turned around without hesitation and stomped out of the hall.
Everyone present was surprised. She was publicly rejecting Cedric’s advances!
Maia’s heels clicked against the floor as she trudged out of the event hall. She could feel the summer wind against her cheeks. It stung as if it was trying to burn her.
Suddenly, Maia could feel a presence next to her. She knew that he had come after her. Cedric grabbed her wrist gently and said, “Don’t you feel like staying? Let’s together.” go
home
“Home?” Maia broke free from his grip as she yelled, “We don’t have a home anymore!” Maia’s tone was so unfaltering that it hurt Cedric. He stood in front of her, his hair tousled by the wind as he stared at her with sadness in his eyes.
you
“Did you think I'd be grateful for what you've done?” Maia smiled mockingly. “Did needed your help removing the news about me? That I'd be happy that you bought all of Starlight Entertainment’s shares?”

Her tirade continued. “Did you think | wouldn’t recognize that woman? You were the reason for her hatred toward me. Everything comes back to you! You are the reason that my life is ina mess now!”
Maia recalled how she was always the one being humiliated and hurt in the past. “I won’t be grateful for what you’ve done for me! I’m sick of you! | don’t need you to help me with PR! I’m not afraid of the public’s views and opinions about me. All of that was your fault too!”
Cedric’s efforts in protecting her just felt pointless and ironic. It was as if he was trying to compensate for what he had done, or worse, it was all just charity.
“Stop wasting your time on me. This is all just a burden for me. I’m not the Maia | was. | don’t need your protection or your love!” Maia’concluded as she turned and left. She was fully capable of fending for herself.
Cedric continued to stare after her retreating back. Was it too late? The wind blew ruthlessly, further messing up his hair as his eyes began to sting.
Maia was not sure how she had managed to walk down so many stairs. The only thing she could feel was the pain in her knees. It was excruciating as she felt the pain burning into her bones.
She continued to fight the pain by taking deep breaths. By the time she found her car and got into it, her tears fell down her cheeks uncontrollably.
Buck was shocked by this and asked in concern, “Ms. Maia, wh-what happened?”
Maia shook her head and just told him to drive.
Buck carried out her orders without further questions as they pulled out of the parking lot. On +15 BONUS
Buck had taken the opportunity to send a text to Hope, informing her about this when they were waiting at an intersection. “Something is wrong with Ms. Maia. She’s been crying ever since she got in the car!”
When they got back to Hope’s place, Maia had finally calmed down. She was still moody as she stepped into the elevator. Buck was worried sick.
Hope was already waiting for them when the elevator’s doors opened. Hope instantly knew something had happened as Maia was not wearing the same outfit she was when she left. “Maia, are you okay?” Hope asked, concerned.
