Chapter 117
Chapter 117 | Deserved That
Cedric agreed with her, “I'll have someone handle this.”
“You have to. She’s your fiancee as well as your younger sister.” Maia took her phone back and walked toward the balcony. “I'm only handling it because of you. | don’t care about what happens to her.”
“Don't concern yourself with me, Cedric. After all, | almost died because of you. It’s bad luck to have you caring about me,” Maia said with a callous irony.
Cedric spoke again when she was at the balcony. “You promised me that you wouldn’t leap over balconies.”
“You also promised me we would watch the Aurora Borealis together.” Maia sneered, “It’s like they say. Promises are meant to be broken.”
Maia stepped onto the balcony and leaped without any hesitation. “| guess | deserved that.” Cedric said to himself, smiling bitterly. Then, he made a phone call. “When did Zera go missing?” he asked Rita as soon as the call connected.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Just a few days ago! | kept her at home, but she insisted on going somewhere. | sent the maid with her. No one expected her to vanish into thin air. I’m going to call the police!”
Rita was agitated, “I knew you'd care. You wouldn’t leave Zera to her fate. Hurry up and send someone to track her down!” “Was she last seen at Prismara?”
“That’s right. She went missing in our own mall!”
He hung up before Rita could say anything more and frowned when he recalled what he saw in
the video.
The video was crisp. It looked like it was shot in an abandoned warehouse. There were cargo boxes with steel brands imprinted on them.
“Prismara Dock.” Cedric mumbled. He called Baz and said, “Get the private plane ready. We're going back to Prismara.”
The only way to find out who sent this video to Maia was by tracking down Zera. She was the key to the mystery. He had to find her as soon as possible.
Maia felt a little uneasy when she was back in her room. 1/3
Too many things had gone down recently.
First, it was Hope and Yvette getting into a deliberate car accident. Then, there was that thing with Theo. Yvette also admitted to taking her mother’s life and before taking her own. Now, there was this video with Zera...
All of these incidents seemed like isolated incidents, but she couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease.
Someone knocked on her door.
“We're about to start shooting, Ms. Maia.”
“Got it. I'll be over in a minute.” Maia went into the bathroom and splashed some water on her face.
She looked at herself in the mirror and said, “Keep it together, Maia. There’s a solution to everything. | will find an answer to everything. It’s just a matter of time...”
She drew a deep breath and wiped her face dry before heading out.
The shoot had begun.
The participants took to the stage and went through the preliminary assessment and evaluations.
Cedric was nowhere to be seen.
Aiken joyfully explained, “Mr. Cedric had some matters to attend to. I’d like to thank him for joining us earlier and showing his support despite his busy schedule! Now, the preliminary assessment is about to begin. Let’s welcome the participants on stage!”
Where was Cedric? Was he handling the Zera issue?
Maia was puzzled, but did not think much of it. She started to focus on the show, but her mind kept drifting back to the video about Zera.
Aiken went on-stage after one of the performances ended. “You guys sure are bold. | can’t believe you guys named yourselves Wonder Girls. Do you intend to make your debut as a team?”
“That’s the idea. We're going to make our debut together. We leave no one behind!”
Aiken counted them and said, “There are six of you, and only ten places in total. Do you intend to take more than half of the places?”
“Exactly. Any participants worth their salt would aim for a debut!”
“You've got guts! | like you guys!” Aiken winked at them and asked, “Which mentor do you want to be evaluated by?”
253 +15 BONUS “All of us wanted to hear from Mr. Jackie.”
Jackie took off his earphones and said, “That was a solid song choice. Overall, it was decent. However, we could hear through the earphones that some of you weren't at your best. You're the only one who delivers, leader. It looks like you have a long way to go before you can debut as a team...”
“What do you think, Ms. Maia?” Aiken asked. “Do you think the Wonder Girls are worthy of a debut?” Maia did not respond. There was total silence in the hall until Jackie nudged her with this elbow. Maia finally came to her senses, but she had no idea what Aiken asked her.
Jackie gave her a tip, “Their stage presence was quite gripping. You could
say that.
Maia said, “Their stage presence was quite gripping, actually. They have a strong sense of the camera’s position and nailed a few shots.”
The participants bowed to her after her evaluation. “Thank you, Ms. Maia.”
She nodded at them and smiled. She was distracted for the rest of the shoot.
“What's the matter, Ms. Maia? Something's off about you.
“| just had a bad night's sleep. After all, I’m not that familiar with Stonebrook. | miss my own bed a little.”
Maia had to make up an excuse. She couldn’t very well reveal that she was distracted by the video about Zera.
