Chapter 559
Chapter 559
"Sherilyn!" From the bathroom, Gilbert was calling for her.
"Coming!" Sherilyn hastily responded, quickly wrapping up her call with Joyce. "He's calling me, gotta check it out. Talk later."
Hanging up, she rolled up her sleeves and entered the bathroom.
Upon entering, she rolled her eyes at Gilbert, "What's up?"
Gilbert, all smiles, lifted his arms. "A bit of a pickle here, wouldn't you say?"
"If it's that bad, skip the shower. Hold out for a few days."
"And stink up the place?" Gilbert protested. "I don't mind, but I wouldn't want to subject you and the little one to that."
As he made to move closer, Sherilyn pointed a warning finger, "Stay put, or you're on your own."
"Okay, okay," Gilbert complied, grinning broadly. "Am I being good?"Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Sherilyn didn't bother responding and simply pressed his head down, "Close your eyes, washing your hair now. Don't want soap in your eyes."
...
The next day, Gilbert was at the TV station to pick up Sherilyn.
They were heading back to the Johnson Mansion that evening.
The news of Sherilyn's pregnancy had reached Sylvia, and Sylvia was over the moon, insisting Gilbert bring Sherilyn back home for a visit.
With the recording two days away, Sherilyn was swamped with work.
Gilbert waited outside the rehearsal room for her.
When the doors finally opened, he turned, searching for Sherilyn's figure.
"Gilbert!" Callie bolted out, heading straight for him and reaching to link her arm with his. "Did you come for me?"
Gilbert, unfazed, gracefully stepped back, his gaze fixing on Sherilyn as she emerged.
"Sherilyn."
Callie pouted, but Gilbert had already moved forward, taking Sherilyn's hand. "Tired? How are you and the baby doing?"
He had hoped Sherilyn would take a break from work, focusing instead on resting at home.
But Sherilyn was adamant about continuing to work. "Regular folks work up until the baby comes. I'll be careful, no heavy lifting, and lying around at home could actually be worse for the delivery." Content belongs to NovelDrama.Org
With no room for argument, Gilbert had to let her have her way.
"Not tired," Sherilyn shook her head. "I'll just change, wait a bit longer for me."
"Sure."
"Hmph."
As Sherilyn left to change, Callie turned to Gilbert with a pout, "I was talking to you. Why ignore me?"
Gilbert glanced at her, his tone nonchalant, "What's up?"
"We had fun the other day, didn't we?" Callie didn't seem to mind his cold shoulder. "Let's hang out again. How about tonight?"
Gilbert couldn't help but smile at her persistence. "Why would I make plans with you?"
"Huh?" Callie blinked, taken aback. "Well, the more you get to know me, the more you'll like me. How am I any less than Sherilyn?"
Gilbert gave her a once-over, a slow smile spreading. "You're not as pretty as she is."
Callie was at a loss for words, retorting, "Beauty's subjective! How can you compare like that?"
"Fair point," Gilbert conceded, unyieldingly. "But I prefer her kind of beauty."
Stunned, Callie found herself speechless.

"Hmph!"
Callie watched them, jealousy gnawing at her. "Just you wait. I refuse to believe I can't win him over!" Sherilyn glanced back, then at Gilbert, "Seems like you've upset her. Won't you go and make peace?" "My little tyrant."
