Chapter 32 Avoid Him
Hailey’s Point of View
I leaned my back against the wall. I’m on the edge now of the clinic.
Am I really becoming a demon? Am i becoming like them too?
“Looks like the little demon is starting to wake up.”
I gave him a death glare. He’s the man whose face has a cover.
“I told you. There’s a demon hidden inside you.”
“But the little demon won’t be enough to make them afraid of you. You must release the whole demon that is hiding in you.” He added.
“I don’t want them to be afraid of me.” I emphatically said.
“You’ve done it. You left fear in their minds.”
“Protect your friends using the demon.”
If what he is saying is true that in order for me to protect my friends is to release the demon that is inside me. I will do that!
Even if I kill someone. I will!
I left the clinic first because I didn’t want to fight with my friends anymore.
“I’ve been looking for you.” Raze said.
“You don’t need to do that. Don’t waste your time just because of me.” I coldly said.
“Are you angry at me?”
“No. I’m not. I just want to be alone. So, please leave me.”
I didn’t look at his eyes. I don’t want to change my mind anymore.
“If you’re not angry to me. You don’t need to avoid me.” He insisted.
I wanted to shout but I couldn’t. I want to get lost because of the pain in my heart.
Sometimes I think I want to go back to childhood. At times when my body is injured it heals quickly.
But the wound in my heart will never heal. The wound that left in my heart, leaves a scar.
“I will be okay soon. I need peace for now.”
“I don’t know if I know myself. I don’t know who I really am. I want to think and be peaceful even for a moment. Is that hard to give?”
He didn’t dare to speak anymore so I walked away.
“Is Demon the reason why you’re avoiding me?”
I stopped walking and I faced him.
“Demon has nothing to do with it.” I answered quickly.
I turned my back on him and ran away.
“I want to escape this life but the pain chasing me.”
When I saw Demon I immediately changed direction but I felt that someone was following me.
“Are you avoiding me?”
I looked in front of me and here was Demon.
“No.” I directly said.
“Really? Do you think that I’m a stupid to believe you.”
I want to punch him but i need to control myself.
“If you don’t want to believe me, I won’t force you.”
“Explain yourself to me. Defend yourself.” Demon insisted.
“Why else would I explain? If you don’t believe me either.”
I was about to pass him but he blocked me.
“Get out of my way.” I calmly said.
“Don’t try to avoid me.” Demon deeply said.
“How many times can I say that I’m not avoiding you?! I just want peace but why don’t you give that?”
“If peace can calm you. I’m ready to give that.”
He let go of my hand after he said those words.
“Don’t make me wait too long.” He continued.
I smiled bitterly at him. I hope the pain in my heart just disappears like a bubble.
But even if I avoid you a few more times, I will still be hurt.
I didn’t realize that my feet had carried me to a quiet place.
“You’re weak.”
A woman suddenly appeared. She is tall, beautiful, white.
“Who are you?” I asked her.
“You don’t know me but I know you.” She answered.
“That’s why I’m asking you.” I said.
“Your heart is now full of sorrow. You want to run but you can’t get out of the cage you made.” I frowned.
“What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean.”
“You’ll only get hurt more if you become weak. You’re not the Hailey I know. The real Hailey doesn’t know how to get hurt because she’s the one who hurts others.”
The days when I had never been hurt flashed through my mind.
“I will never be able to bring back who I used to be.”
“You can but you just don’t want to do it. You want to protect your friends but yourself you can’t afford to give protection.”
“If you lose your friends you will be hurt. But I’m telling you one of the ones you trust is the one who hurts you and the traitor.” She added.
“Do you know who?” I curiously asked.
“Find the answer in the questions that are troubling your mind. The answer is just around you. Open your eyes and you will see the truth.” She says figuratively.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
“Wait!” I called her.
She just disappeared and I never saw her again.
People I trust? But who?
Should i made myself more strong? Am I ready to give up everything?
“Hailey, what are you doing here?” Nadia asked.
“I just want to go to a quiet and peaceful place.” I answered.
“You, what are you doing here?” I asked her back.
“I saw you coming here so I followed you.”
“Are you afraid of me?” I divert the topic.
“I’m not afraid of you. You’re my friend so I know you won’t be able to hurt me.” I sighed.
“I hope others think the same of me. I don’t want them to be afraid of me but I can’t do anything.”
She hugged me tightly.
“Don’t be sad. We’re here as your friends so don’t be sad anymore.”
Even if only my friends were by my side I was happy. They were just enough to give me the strength to fight.
I don’t know what I will do if I lose them. If they leave me I will lose the strength to continue my life.
I trust them so I know they won’t break the trust I gave them.
“Let’s go back to the room. It’s getting cold here.” She suggested.
“All right.” I agreed.
When we entered the dorm we immediately saw our friends.
“Aren’t you mad at us?” Agatha asked.
“I’m not mad at you.”
“Hailey, let’s talk privately.” Kent said.
We went outside the dorm.
“Why do you want to talk to me?”
“Are you avoiding Demon?” He asked.
“Is this all we need to talk about Demon?”
“Answer me.”
“Yes. I’m avoiding him. Is that fun?”
“You’d better avoid him than just keep getting hurt. He doesn’t deserve a woman like you.”
I was surprised but I just ignored what he said.
