Chapter 287
Xavier let go of Yvette and returned to his usual cold self. She thought he really had been putting on an act and figured he had stopped doing it after seeing how resolute she was. So, she stood up and said, "I'll prepare another divorce lawsuit."
After saying that, she grabbed her bag and left the ward. When she reached the hallway, Shannon was waiting for her there.
Seeing that Yvette had come out, Shannon blocked her path. "Look at how pitiful Xav is. Are you still going to get a divorce?"
Yvette knew she couldn't go soft at this moment, so she looked at Shannon coldly.
"When my dad got into an accident and passed away, my family slowly fell into despair. My hearing impairment got worse, and I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder. Did you guys ever consider my feelings back then?
"You knew perfectly well that Xavier had never touched me, but you kept forcing me to take fertility drugs. Did you consider how I felt back then?"
Shannon didn't know how to refute that, but she was unwilling to give up. "But you're pregnant with his child now, so you can't leave. Even if you want to get a divorce, you must leave the child with us!" Yvette was glad that she hadn't told Shannon that the child was Xavier's out of sympathy.
She scoffed. "Madam Shannon, how many times do I have to remind you? The baby in my belly isn't Xavier's. If you still don't believe me, you can ask your son about it."This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
When Shannon heard that, she looked at Xavier, who was in a daze on the bed. After losing his memories, he couldn't even remember his own name. There was no way he would know if the child in Yvette's belly was his.
"Yvette, why have you become like this? I used to think you loved Xav with all of your heart. Although you weren't impressive, you were kind. Now, you're just so cruel. You really disgust me now!" After she said that, she entered Xavier's ward.
Meanwhile, Yvette went to apply for a discharge. When she left the hospital, it was snowing. There was a lot of snow on her body in no time.
She looked up and looked at the snow, and her eyes slowly turned red. She felt upset.
After a while, Ray arrived in a car. He got out of the vehicle and walked toward her with an umbrella in his hand.
"Let's go, Ms. Snyder."
"Yeah." She nodded.
Although the heater was on in the car, she still felt cold after getting in.
As she traveled back to Kiki's place, she mumbled, "Why can't peoplez change? Should we be kind even if people keep bullying us? Can't we be selfish for once? Why can't I think for myself?"
She used to love Xavier wholeheartedly and had never done anything wrong. In the end, she had been called unimpressive but kind.
At that moment, she wanted to have her freedom and get a divorce. However, she was being perceived as cruel.
The snow outside got heavier, and she almost couldn't see the view outside anymore. Instead, all she could see was her reflection in the window. She didn't even know when her face became covered in tear stains.
Since the apartment Kiki was staying at was rented, it wasn't big. Yvette wanted to calm down alone, so she found a new place to stay.
Meanwhile, Shannon hired some caretakers to take care of Xavier in the hospital ward.
However, he was easily irritated without Yvette around, and he wouldn't let anyone get close to him at all. He chased all of the caretakers out of the ward after a short while. Shannon was in a conundrum. "Xav, you can't see a thing now, and it's inconvenient. You need someone to take care of you, so don't chase them away."
"I don't need them."
A few days after Yvette had left, there were new wounds on his body. He had gotten some of them while drinking water and washing himself up.
He wouldn't let anyone touch him at all, even if it was Shannon. She hadn't expected him to be that stubborn. She was worried that he would get weaker if this went on. "I'll get Yvette here."
Unexpectedly, Xavier spoke right
after she said that. It was the first time he had said so many words in the past few days. "Please tell Yvvy not to file a lawsuit. I'm willing to get a divorce."
