Chapter 285
Yvette still didn't believe he had lost his memories. After all, she had used the same trick before. She immediately pulled her hand away. "Drop the act, Xavier. I know you didn't really lose your memories." When Xavier's hands were empty, he started reaching out and searching again. "Where are you, Yvvy?" Since he couldn't see, he could only reach his hands aimlessly.
Benedict had just tended to his wounds, and it seemed like they were about to break open again. His injuries were serious.
After getting emotional earlier, he felt like he had been hit by a huge boulder in the head. After the nurse administered some anesthesia, he lost consciousness right away.
Before he fell asleep, he muttered again, "Yvvy..."
Benedict called Yvette and Shannon out of the ward.
"Ms. Snyder, you can't provoke him anymore. According to our diagnosis, Mr. Lane had a concussion during the accident.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
"The nerves in his brain were damaged, and that caused his amnesia. He wasn't putting up an act. There are many similar cases in our country."
Yvette thought about how Xavier had acted earlier and was confused. "In that case, why does he remember me?"
"When we were operating on him earlier, he kept muttering your nickname. I think that's the reason why he still remembers you."
Shannon hadn't expected him to really fall in love with Yvette either. She couldn't help feeling jealous when she thought about how he pushed her away and had only wanted Yvette. "Dr. Lloyd, will my son recover his memories?"
"It depends on the patient. Our medical studies aren't advanced enough to deal with brain trauma." Benedict sighed. He was trying to say that he couldn't be sure.
"What about his eyes? Will they recover?"
He shook his head.
Shannon started panicking. Now that Xavier was blind and had lost his memories, she didn't know what would happen to the company.
After he had gotten into the accident, some of the shareholders had sensed that something was wrong. They were all waiting for the outcome. As expected, there were noises coming from downstairs. "I'm just here to see my cousin. Can't I do that?"
"I'm sorry. No one is allowed to enter without Madam Shannon's permission."
"Don't you know who I am?" Zayden grabbed the bodyguard's collar. "Let me in, or I'll make sure you're stuck in a wheelchair."
When Shannon heard the commotion from downstairs, she turned to look at Yvette. "Xav became like this
because he wanted to save you. So, stay and take care of him."
After saying that, she went downstairs. Then, Yvette heard her scolding Zayden. "Xav has just fallen asleep. Are you sure you want to see him now?"
He was extremely afraid of Xavier, so he didn't dare visit the latter. Instead, he had to leave with a grudge.
After all, he heard that Xavier was in a terrible accident. He wondered why the latter would be fine now.
Yvette returned to the ward and thought about what Benedict told her. The nerves in Xavier's brain were damaged, and he really had lost his memories. He wasn't putting up an act at all.
It made sense as well. If he hadn't lost his memories, he never would've accepted the fact that he would be blind from now on.
She looked at Xavier as he slept soundly on the bed. Then, she fell into deep thought. Since it was late, she fell asleep with her head on the edge of Xavier's bed.
When the sky slowly turned bright, she felt a big hand touching her head. She opened her eyes and noticed that Xavier had awakened.
"Are you awake?" His hand froze, and he looked uneasy. "I'm thirsty, Yvvy."
She wasn't used to him talking to her like that. "Alright. I'll go get you some water."
He removed his hand, and she brought him a glass of water. Xavier slowly grabbed the glass and finished the drink. After a while, he said again, "Yvvy." "Yeah, I'm here."
"I haven't gone to the toilet in a while."
