it’s all up to you
Pedro entered Marco’s room as soon as they arrived in Paris, ensuring that Carlos was securely in his grasp.
“Sir, you can now meet Miss Arabella; she’s waiting at one of the hotel’s restaurants in the city center,” Pedro says, causing Marco to halt his movements on the screen in front of him.
“In that case, prepare for another 15 minutes. I’ll be there,” Marco says. After that, he moves swiftly, organizing and preparing the documents he needs to show Arabella. Once everything is ready, Marco heads to the agreed-upon hotel for their meeting.
It doesn’t take long for Marco to arrive at the promised restaurant. He sits in the pre-booked chair, but he furrows his brow when Arabella hasn’t arrived after almost 15 minutes of waiting. Marco immediately contacts Pedro, who is waiting in another room in the hotel.
“Can you confirm that the time mentioned by Arabella is correct?” Marco asks, making Pedro nod.
“Yes, Sir. I’ve checked several times, and the restaurant seat reservation matches what Miss Arabella said. I’ll check again and try to find out why Miss Arabella hasn’t arrived yet,” Pedro says. Marco ends the call, then focuses on checking the emails on his phone. His focus is diverted, and Marco realizes that he has been waiting for almost an hour. Annoyed, Marco realizes that Arabella seems to intentionally make him wait, knowing that he dislikes waiting.
When the familiar sound of footsteps approaches, Marco stops his movements. The chair in front of him is pulled, and Arabella, with a blank face, gazes at Marco. The woman he once admired, and despite turning to Letta, Marco realizes that his feelings for Arabella are not easily forgotten.
“Sorry, I’m late. Have you been waiting long?” Arabella asks without any guilt, making Marco just look at her with raised eyebrows.
“One hour and 20 minutes, since I sat in this chair,” Marco says, making Arabella only smile thinly.
“Forgive me. You know, I made time to meet you in the midst of my busy schedule. So, just an hour late, I think it’s not a big deal. It seems this meeting is important because a Marco is willing to wait for me that long,” Arabella says, seeming to guess the purpose of their meeting.
“Alright, then I won’t beat around the bush because you also know what we’re actually going to talk about, especially after I’m sure you’ve met my Mommy,” Marco says, making Arabella nod.
“Yes, even though our relationship has ended, I always make it a habit to meet Aunt Helena. She appreciates the gifts I send, and I also value the affection she gives me. You know, I’ve come to see her as a mother figure,” Arabella says, causing Marco to fall silent as he is already aware of the closeness between them until now.
“And in our last meeting, I didn’t expect that Aunt took the time to meet me when Uncle Edward lay weak in the hospital just to ask if I still have the same feelings for you. Does that mean she wants me to reunite with you, a Marco who already has a wife about to give birth?” Arabella says, making Marco display his poker face to his former lover, who now casually sips the wine available before them.
“And you know, I didn’t meet you to approve Mommy’s idea,” Marco says, causing Arabella to place her glass down while nodding. Arabella cups her face, gazing at Marco intently, and Marco remains silent in response to Arabella’s gaze.
“You know, a month ago, I was proposed to by Santos, the owner of a major agency in Paris with a big project in Miami. But for some reason, I easily turned him down,” Arabella says, making Marco fall silent.
“I don’t know the reasons, but before that, I made sure that I had truly moved on from my feelings for you. But to start a relationship with someone else, it feels like I’m not ready yet. Can that be called a kind of trauma?” Arabella asks, making Marco exhale deeply.
“In that case, you should try it. You’ll find out whether it’s trauma or not when you start it,” Marco says, making Arabella draw herself up from the chair, folding her arms, and staring defiantly at Marco.
“I’m not like you, starting a relationship easily with another woman after leaving your own fiancee. I still can’t think clearly and guess what you were thinking when you married Letta. I leave all that to Marco Letta,” Arabella says, making Marco avert his gaze.
“Consider that I could only think clearly when marrying Letta,” Marco says.
“Then your feelings for me were not true, what you called love, which we’ve been through for almost a few years?” Arabella asks again.
“We don’t need to discuss that. I just want to talk about something else unrelated to our past,” Marco says.
“But I will discuss our issues next after you answer my question,” Arabella says, making Marco just sigh deeply. Of course, Marco already anticipates what he has to face before delving into the heart of the conversation with Arabella.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
“I still consider you someone who was once close to me, someone who was once important to me. I haven’t forgotten our memories. Right now, I see you as someone I can ask for help, like now, because our relationship cannot simply be severed. You are my childhood friend, and that will remain the same even though our romantic relationship has ended,” Marco says, causing Arabella to fall silent before eventually expressing frustration.
“You see me as just your little friend. You’re right. Maybe it wasn’t love. It was just affection for a friend. I was just too foolish to be deceived by a Marco Jovanka. I hope you don’t do the same to Letta,” Arabella says, making Marco immediately take out the documents he brought earlier.
“That won’t happen. It’s better if you look at these documents now,” Marco says, but Arabella doesn’t even take them. She just stares at the brown envelope.
“Can I just explain it briefly? I’m too lazy to read words on white paper. Even for a job contract, I ask my manager to study it,” Arabella says casually, showing Marco how she operates. She doesn’t want to make things difficult and doesn’t want to incur losses.
“I want you to collaborate with my company, but without the conditions imposed by Mommy,” Marco says, making Arabella raise an eyebrow.
“What about my family? They won’t just accept it if their daughter helps her ex who dumped her, right?” Arabella says, making Marco respond.
“That’s all up to you. Whether you’ll help me or not. If you want to help me, it means you already have an answer for your family. I know you’re smart because the benefits I offer will be advantageous for you,” Marco says, making Arabella fall silent while staring into the eyes of her former lover.
