Chapter 2002 Appointment
Gary said gently, "No, I'm already awake. Do you need anything, Mr. Morgan? You texted early."
Ian smiled. "Nothing, really. I just want to treat you to a meal. Cindy told me you've been helping her out, so I want to thank you."
"Oh." A moment later, he said, "Aren't you busy, Mr. Morgan?"
"Not at the moment." He added, "The director's an agreeable man. If I need to leave for a while, I can just tell him."
Since Ian had said so, Gary replied, "I can adjust my time. It depends on you. I can work with your time."
Ian took him up on that offer. "How does tonight sound? I'm free tonight."
Gary answered readily, "Of course. Tonight it is."
Ian said, "I'll make a reservation at the restaurant. I'll send you the time and location later."
"Sure," Gary said. Then, Ian hung up.
The driver looked in the rear-view mirror, and he smiled. "Who was it? You were being really polite."
Ian leaned back and heaved a sigh. "We owe him one. I didn't want to be polite, but that would have been unbecoming of me."
Yes, he didn't want to be polite. He wanted to ask Gary why he was so nice to Cindy. They were all adults, and he should know where the lines were. It would make things uncomfortable for him and Cindy if he kept this up. However, Cindy did owe him a lot, so she couldn't bring herself to ask him all of that.
The driver didn't know about the thing between Cindy and Gary, and he was surprised. "You owe someone a favor? Well, then that person must be quite capable."
Ian agreed. He is capable, or he couldn't have helped Cindy out so much. Ian knew who Mr. Kaufmann was. That man had single-handedly pushed Serena to fame. Serena might be a talented designer, but she did receive help from a lot of people. A lot of the famous designers in Paramount Group got to where they were thanks to Mr. Kaufmann, and some were even famous internationally. Knowing Mr. Kaufmann was proof that Gary was capable, and getting him to help Cindy proved that Gary was more capable than Ian thought. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Ian felt frustrated, and it was gnawing at him. For some reason, he remembered Cindy telling him that she felt insecure every time she saw Yulia. Now, he knew how she felt.
The driver didn't say anything else. When Ian reached the set, the preparations were almost done, so Ian quickly went to get his makeup done and got changed. He wasn't in his top form today, but luckily, the character's mood aligned with his. The protagonist was supposed to be brooding due to jealousy and Ian was in a similar mood, so it was weirdly perfect. Even though Ian was spacing out a little, the take turned out well.
At the same time, the moment Cindy reached her seat in the office, a colleague came over and asked her to have lunch together. Huh? I don't know her. I don't even remember where she sits. She didn't know the woman, but she was sure that the woman was one of the employees who mocked her behind her back. She didn't refuse her outright, but she didn't say yes either. "We'll see. I'm not sure about my lunch plans."
Her colleague smiled. "Sure. Have lunch with us if you have time. The more the merrier."
