Cindy pursed her lips. She knew she was in the wrong, so she tried to coax him. "I'll make your favorite dish the next time you come back."
Ian said coldly, "We'll talk about this later." He said, "It's late, and I have to sleep now." Then, he hung up before she could say anything.
Cindy gripped her phone tightly. She wanted to salvage the situation but she knew it would be useless, so she put her phone down and plopped down on the couch. She thought her life would get better after Mr. Kaufmann helped her out, but now her love life was in a crisis. I just can't have a perfect one, can I?
Frustrated, Cindy didn't feel like doing anything else, so she went and took a shower before going to bed. She thought about it and looked at the photo again. It was just her standing beside Gary's car, talking to him. It seemed like a normal goodbye and nothing else.
Cindy still felt uneasy. She could reflect on herself, and she put herself in his shoes. If Ian sent Yulia home and she said goodbye to him like this, Cindy knew she would get upset too if that scene was caught on camera.
Yeah. Of course he'd be sarcastic.
Cindy sighed and texted Ian to talk about what happened. She said she only went for dinner because Gary helped her again. Ian didn't reply. He's probably still angry. She put her phone away and covered
herself with the blanket. She went to sleep, but it was a fitful one. She almost woke up a few times.
She could feel her phone vibrating, but every time she woke up and took a look, there was no notification. She had a shallow sleep, and she woke up the moment dawn broke. I can't sleep. She paced back and forth in the living room and washed herself up when it was nearly time for work. She then went to the office without eating breakfast because she had no appetite.
The air in the office felt different today. Everyone was quiet, and they glanced at her when she came in, though it was different from how they used to look at her. There was fear in their eyes. Cindy took her seat, but since she didn't sleep well, she had no inspiration that day. She took out the file Serena gave her, but she didn't know what she should draw. Cindy placed her phone on the desk, but there was nothing from Ian. He didn't call or text her. She wondered if he was still angry, and she wanted to ask him if he was working already, but it would sound stiff, so she abandoned the idea. She took a deep breath and put her pen down, then she leaned back and spaced out.
Everyone wondered what she was thinking, and some looked nervous, thinking that Cindy was coming up with a plan to make their lives hard.
Mary came a while later, and she was holding something. She came up to Cindy and placed the item on her desk. "Mr. Kaufmann asked us to compile this for you. He says this will help with your work. It'll expand your imagination."
