Chapter 1955 Meeting Up
She couldn’t stand that feeling. Gary called her when it was nearly time for lunch. He said he just met his client at a place near her company, and he wanted to have lunch with her, since he hadn’t eaten yet.
Cindy hesitated, but in the end, she agreed to his invitation. It would be rude to not accept it.
Gary was a considerate man. Instead of picking Cindy up at the company’s entrance, he chose to park his car somewhere a bit further away. Cindy felt a lot more at ease because of that.
Cindy came out and looked around, then she saw Gary’s car parked not far away.
Gary was older than Cindy, and men that age were always thoughtful. He had seen a lot of things in society, so he paid more attention to detail.
Cindy waited for everyone to leave before she went toward Gary’s car.
Gary was scrolling through his phone in his car.
Cindy got in the car. “Hi, Mr. Frye.”
Gary kept his phone away and turned to look at her. “I bet you’re exhausted.”
No. I spent the whole morning making designs. Only my brain is tired. Cindy smiled. “I’m fine.”
Gary revved up the car. Once they drove away, he asked Cindy if she was craving for anything. Cindy said she was fine with anything, so Gary replied, “I’ll pick a restaurant at random then.”
“Sure.” Cindy added, “I’m fine with anything, really.”
Gary turned to look at her. “I can see that.” He smiled. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
They came to a Thai restaurant and sat in a corner instead of a room.
The waiter came to take their order, and after he left, Cindy asked, “So, did the meeting with your client go well, Mr. Frye?”
Gary looked at her for a few moments, then he said, “I did not meet any clients.”
Cindy blinked at him dumbly as she tried to process what he just said. Then she said, “But you told me you just met a client.”
Gary smiled. “You wouldn’t have come out if I hadn’t said so.”
Cindy couldn’t argue with that.
Gary looked away, but he was still talking to her. “You’re always so formal around me. I think of you as a friend, but you don’t see me the same way, so I have to come up with something every time I want to see you.”
Cindy pursed her lips and tried her best not to think about what Gary was implying. “I think of you as my friend, but I treat my friends this way too.”
Gary looked at her again. “Is that so?”
Cindy nodded. “Yes. I’m not lying to you. Don’t take this the wrong way. I’m really grateful for all your help.”
Gary heaved a sigh. “Alright, I’ll stop teasing you now. Don’t get nervous.”
Cindy was nervous. She never did dare to even think of Gary as a friend. He’s a tycoon, while I’m just an OL. I’m not worthy enough to be his friend.
While they were waiting for their food to be served, Gary talked about the business Cindy invested in. As expected, the business had been making bank, and once the time came, Cindy could make a lot of money from it.
Cindy’s desire for money had dropped considerably. Ever since she started dating Ian, he had been providing her ample security, so she didn’t feel as much of a need for money at the moment.
Cindy wasn’t an expert in the matter, so she only nodded while Gary explained things to her. She didn’t know what to ask anyway.
Gary was staring at her, and he smiled. Eventually, he stopped talking, and he laughed. “Were you also like this when you were working as Ian’s assistant?”
