Chapter 104: A Daring Person
As the crowd dispersed, Lily let out a heavy sigh as she sank into a chair in the reception area, her body still sore from the long jog she had done. Alana handed her a cup of water, brows furrowed in concern and annoyance.
“I’m sorry for making you witness that scene,” Alana apologised, her voice filled with frustration. “I tried to handle it calmly, but they took it too far, and those extra people just stormed in.”
Lily took a sip of water, shaking her head. “It’s alright. We’ll have to get used to situations like this. It won’t be the last time.” She replied. “In fact, I’m expecting this group to be back anytime soon. Just make sure you keep an eye out.”
“You were definitely targeted,” Light pointed out as he climbed down the stairs with a sandwich in one hand and a cola in the other; his eyes narrowed with concern upon seeing how they had trashed the whole place up. “Bron is notorious for stirring up trouble online. Did you cross anyone recently?”
Lily’s brow furrowed as she recalled the previous night’s events. “I might have told Frederick Watson off. He got on my nerves when I found out he was following me around, so I kind of snapped.”
Light shook his head. “That doesn’t sound like Frederick’s style. He’d rather get you in trouble with the law than pull a petty stunt like this.” He said. “He always likes to run his targets out of town or sometimes into jail.”
“You’re familiar with him?” Lily enquired, her curiosity piqued about the subject and the possible relationship between the two.
“A lot goes on in the entertainment industry, Cupcake,” Light chuckled, his gaze momentarily distant. “I don’t know him personally, but he sponsors people I’ve worked with. They had some stories to tell. And trust me, they weren’t all good.”
“Aside from Frederick, who else might want to target you?” He asked, rubbing her temples in frustration.
“Honestly, I’m not sure,” Lily admitted, her voice tinged with concern. “I’ll give it some thought at other times. For now, I’m too exhausted.”
“Anyways, why are you here? It’s a good thing those people didn’t get you on camera,” she asked with raised brows, and Light smiled awkwardly.
“Well, I missed you all, and I came to say hi, can’t I?” He asked and took a bite from his sandwich to avoid making eye contact with Lily’s knowing ones.
“You missed us, or you came to see your brother?” She teased.
“Well, that too. I’ve been here all day, and he hasn’t checked in. Does he not work here anymore?” He questioned.
Lily smiled knowingly. “I enrolled Gary in professional modelling training. It’s an intensive six-month program, just like the idol training you went through. He’ll be quite busy and won’t have time to come out to work; he’s also staying there for the whole six-month program,” she explained.
Light frowned at her words, his eyes filled with worry as he asked. “What about his siblings?”
Lily rolled her eyes, amused by his concern. “Don’t worry, I’ve got that covered. They’re staying with my parents and can video chat with Gary on weekends.”
Relieved, he let out a sigh. “Looks like I came at the wrong time.” He hesitated before asking, “Could I get his contact information?”
“I can’t share his info without his permission. Sorry, buddy.” She shot him down firmly and immediately changed the subject. “How are things with your father?”
Light’s shoulders slumped slightly at the rejection, but most at the mention of the jerk he calls a father. “We’re at a stalemate. I haven’t been home since our last fight, and he’s too stubborn to reach out.”
“That’s rough,” Lily sympathised, her eyes filled with genuine concern. “But you don’t have to ruin your relationship with him for Gary’s sake.”
“It doesn’t matter. Whatever relationship we had is something of the past now,” he breathed out, his eyes filled with undisguised pain.
“There’s another reason I came here,” Light confessed. “And it’s business.”
Lily got up and began to lead him to an office for a more private space to discuss.
“So I am starring in a movie; it’s going to be my first, and I want you to help make all my costumes set,” he explained excitedly, making Lily raise her brow in confusion.
“Doesn’t your company or the movie crew provide the costume for the movie? Why are you making yours?” She asked.
Light let out a groan, “Of course that would usually be the case, but it’s different this time.” He replied. “The movie is predicted to have high sales, and I got the role, of second male lead, through connection.”
“Of course, I pissed off some people in the process, and I’m being targeted by them. Please help me out; you are the only person I can go to now,” he pleaded.
Lily leaned back in her chair, mulling over Light’s offer. While it wasn’t unusual for connections to play a role in the entertainment industry, she had a feeling there was more to the story. “Helping you out might affect my own business; how do we sort that?”
“I can pay compensation.” He offers. “Besides, the person I offended can only throw his weight around the company; he doesn’t have much influence outside of the company. What do you say?”
Letting out a sigh, she gave a nod. Even if she was worried about the consequences of getting involved in a celebrity’s quarrel, he was a friend, and no matter what comes after, she could handle it.
“When is the shoot scheduled to start?” she asked as he picked up her pen and paper to get the date.
“Summer next year, it will run for almost all the year; we will need seasonal options then costumes,” he explained with a grin. “I’ll make a list and send it to you, then you can send me the address estimate.”
“Alright. Send it as soon as possible; I won’t be available for a while,” she replied.
“Going on a vacation with your boyfriend?” He teased me.
“Boyfriend?”
“If you were trying to hide it, you shouldn’t have appeared at his grandfather’s birthday banquet. News spread fast in the upper class, with idle people,” he chuckled.
Only then did Lily realise what he was talking about. She let out a hum. “We aren’t officially yet,” she corrected.
“What not?”
“Personal reasons?” Lily replied.
“Anyways, don’t forget to send the list, and you might have Avon working on your piece,” she muttered, and Light’s face brightened up.
“Are you bringing him to work with you?”
“Not for long, but yes. We are working on a Collaborative project, he’ll be here for a month or two,” she replied and began to sort through the files that needed her signature. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Sounds cool, alright. I will go work on it now; see you around.”
Knowing that today’s fiasco with Bron won’t end anytime soon, she decided to download the video of the whole thing as evidence. Upon arrival back at our apartment, she showered and returned to work.
She had to dwell more on the job given to her by Williams but she was going to wait until the flash would be delivered to the specified location the following day, so she decided to get done with some other work to practise and acquire skill.
While working, she got another notification from the website, one that made her worried for her well-being and questioned her morality. However, being a daring person, she decided to take up the job while throwing caution to the wind.
