Chapter 360
Chapter 360
"Of course not. You know how much I've suffered because of my lack of education. It's always been a
hurdle I can't get over. It unsettles me," Cordelia explained anxiously to Ronan.
Slowly, Ronan approached her, gently grasping her chin. "So, education is more important than your
husband, and more important than your child?"
"Education is the confidence of a lifetime." Cordelia stared resolutely into Ronan's eyes. She'd rather
have Ronan hate her now than let him have his way. She had to get to the bottom of things. She was
afraid Ronan would get dragged into it.
Ronan squinted. "I’ve said it before, either stay or if you leave, don’t ever try to see me again! Anything
else, I don’t care."
After saying this, Ronan headed into the bathroom. He climbed into bed after taking a shower. Cordelia
was already in bed, curled up under the covers. Tears welled up in her eyes as she tugged at Ronan's
arm. Never in her life had she felt so wronged. After suffering outside, she couldn't say a word when
she came home, yet she was misunderstood by him.
Ronan ignored her. He didn't even acknowledge her.
Cordelia was tormented. She had planned to go to the U.S. to pursue her master's while pregnant. She
would come back once a month to see Ronan and their child. But according to the man in black, and
her conversation with Ronan, she couldn't come back.
Ronan had said that if she left, he wouldn’t see her for the rest of his life. She didn’t know who was
after her, or why they wanted to harm her. Even as a temporary measure, she had to leave. She
couldn't fight with those people. She’d have to wait until the day she grew up and became more
powerful.
Ronan turned off the lights and went to sleep. In the darkness, only Cordelia was left awake. Her tears
were soaking the pillow. She wanted to crawl into Ronan’s blanket, to sleep next to him. But his
aloofness tonight made Cordelia hesitate.
She had so much to say but couldn’t voice any of it.
His reaction this time was entirely different from before. When she had wanted to go abroad last time,
he had been extremely upset, forcing himself on Cordelia. But this time, he was terrifyingly calm, as if
he had given up on Cordelia.
After their heart-to-heart, and having a child together, she could just up and leave. There was no other
explanation besides "he’s not in her heart, neither is their child, nor is their home."
What could Cordelia say? She turned away from him, not facing him. She thought, “She still had to go
to the U.S., she couldn't let anyone think she was scared. Maybe if she went to another country, they'd
think she was out of line and retaliate even more.”
It was early July, still a while before the school year started in January. She would rent a place first,
then continue her finance studies. If all went well, she'd get her PhD.
Cordelia stayed awake until dawn, finally drifting off to sleep.
When she woke up, Ronan was gone again. Once again, Cordelia grabbed his pillow, crying until her
voice was hoarse. She had thought he was a brute all along, never imagining he could be so resolute.
Cordelia booked her flight online. It was off-season, there weren’t many people and tickets were easy
to get.
She quickly wiped her tears.
Amanda came in with a bowl of apple crumble.
"Amanda, I've been recovering well these past few days, thanks to you," Cordelia forced a smile and
said.
"That's what a mother-in-law should do. I already feel guilty for not taking care of you earlier." Amanda
sat on Cordelia's bed. "Why are your eyes red, Della?"
"I'm thinking about studying abroad. It might be a long time before I can come back, and I can't bear to
leave."
"Abroad? The kid is so young, and you want to go abroad?" Amanda was equally surprised.
"Yes, I've not been working recently and wanted to get a degree. My visa hasn't expired, and I've
already received the offer. I might..." Cordelia choked up.
"Might what?" This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
"I might leave today," Cordelia said.
