Chapter 338
Chapter 338
Ronan made his way swiftly to the door.
Leila, in a state of desperation, found herself sitting in front of his office door, pressing her body against
it, tightly wrapping her arms around Ronan’s legs, refusing to let him pass.
"Move!" Ronan bellowed.
Leila wailed, "Ronan, please, you promised to let Deanna return to the spotlight! Have you forgotten
your words? Did that woman whisper sweet nothings into your ear?"
"Let go!" Ronan attempted to free himself, but Leila held on fiercely.
"Ronan, you can't treat Deanna like this, you were once sweethearts!" Leila sobbed.
Her cries reverberated through the entire floor.
Ronan reached for his phone to call Cordelia.
Just then, a call came from an unknown number. The ringtone echoed incessantly.
He had no choice but to answer.
"Mr. Evans, this is Will from PrimeBuild Contractors. Hunter requested an account comparison, but we
forgot to submit our books to your Audit Department. It’s our fault. We overlooked the fact that Ginger,
the accountant who used to handle it, is no longer with First Enterprises. We apologize, Mr. Evans."
Will sounded genuinely remorseful and rather obsequious.
"Understood!" Ronan swiftly hung up, attempting to call Cordelia again.
But Cordelia's line was busy.
Cordelia was on the phone with Tristi, asking her for a ride home.
Feeling frustrated, Cordelia thought her return trip was a waste of time.
"Tristi, where are you? Can you give me a ride home?" Cordelia asked from the entrance of Lumos
Enterprises.
"You're going home now? I just got home to grab your songbook. I thought you were going home with
Mr. Evans today. Wait for me, I'll come down," Tristi said.
"No need, you can stay home," Cordelia replied.
"Well, don't go anywhere alone. If something happens, I can't bear the responsibility," Tristi said with a
hint of anxiety.
"I won't." Cordelia hung up.
Ronan called Tristi, who relayed her conversation with Cordelia to him.
After finally freeing himself from Leila's grip, Ronan managed to step outside.
He got into his car and sent Cordelia a message on Messenger. [Don't listen to her nonsense! There's
nothing going on.]
[Where are you? Can you call?]
Cordelia needed a breather and took a cab to Millstone Park, known for its serene and beautiful
scenery.
She thought she'd sit in the park for a while before going home.
Leila's words had upset her, and she was feeling winded. She sat on a park bench, trying to calm
herself. Her stomach ached.
She thought it might have been temporary, so she would let it pass. If it persisted, she would go to the
hospital to see Victoria.
Sienna called Cordelia.
Cordelia guessed it must have been about Samantha again.
"Aunt Sienna," Cordelia answered the call.
"Cordelia, have you spoken to Mr. Evans?" Sienna asked anxiously.
"I haven't seen him yet, I'm in the park getting some fresh air."
"Cordelia, I apologize for what Samantha did to you in the past, but Samantha... she really lost an eye.
It's now covered in gauze, and it hurts to see her like this." Sienna started to cry.
Cordelia softened.
"I'm at Millstone Park right now, I'll talk to him when I get home tonight," Cordelia said.
No matter what Sienna and Samantha were like, Cordelia’s uncle was a good person. Over the years,
he had always been considerate of Sienna's feelings, which was pitiful.
"Don't forget."
Cordelia gave a noncommittal hum before ending the call.
Looking out at the calm waters, Cordelia couldn't help but reminisce about the day they went boating
together.
It was a warm spring day, and they were alone.
Her phone was resting on the bench, untouched.
A woman's silhouette approached from the distance, her eyes covered with gauze.
Cordelia thought to herself, “Samantha? Why is she here?”
Did Samantha overhear Cordelia’s conversation with Sienna? Or did Sienna tell Samantha Cordelia
was at Millstone Park via Messenger?
Seeing Samantha made Cordelia nervous. If Samantha were to attack her, she wouldn't stand a
chance. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
Quickly, she sent a message to Tristi. [I'm at Millstone Park, can you come?]
Then, she sent her location.
Samantha was already there.
With a look of anger on her face, she removed a ring from her finger and tossed it into Cordelia's lap.
"Take it back!" Samantha snapped.
Upon closer inspection, Cordelia realized it was her emerald ring.
She had assumed it was lost when her grandmother passed away.
