The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 333

Chapter 333

Cordelia had felt each day drag on like a year.

The same applied to Ronan, who found himself incessantly checking his watch at work.

They both had never before experienced the drag of time quite like this.

Finally, at half-past six in the afternoon, Ronan finished his work and headed home.

Cordelia was the one to open the door for him.

“You’re home?” Sparkles danced in Cordelia's eyes.

“Yeah.” Ronan lightly ruffled Cordelia's hair, kicked off his shoes at the entrance, and went inside for

dinner.

In the past, Janice never felt like a third wheel. But this time, she wished she could find a corner to

hide. She suspected that if she weren't around, these two would have already been all over each other.

Janice had previously worked as an editor for a magazine. But when the magazine industry took a hit,

and her husband had to move to the oil fields of Millstone for work, she decided to move with him. She

had intended to find a new job in Millstone, but with the decline of print media and her son starting

school, she chose to be a stay-at-home mom for a few years. Once her son entered high school, she

decided to get back into the workforce. Her cooking skills, coupled with her neat and tidy habits, her

dislike for gossip, and her intellectual demeanor, made her a perfect fit for the Evans family, where she

had been working for several years now.

She had a good understanding of romantic feelings between men and women.

“Have some fish.” Ronan placed a piece of fish onto Cordelia's plate.

“Thanks. You must be tired from work. You should eat too.” Cordelia returned the favor by placing some

fish onto Ronan's plate.

They seemed oblivious to their surroundings.

Janice sat there, feeling her face turning red.

Ronan and Cordelia retreated to their bedroom early.

As soon as they entered, Ronan pinned Cordelia against the door and kissed her.

Neither of them had ever experienced

Not being able to see her even for a moment was unbearable

Cordelia looked around their home, reminiscing about how Ronan had selected, touched, and used

every piece of furniture. She felt a sense of familiarity even with the house itself.

“Did you miss me? Hmm?” Ronan whispered into Cordelia's ear.

“Yeah, a lot. Does that make me pathetic?” This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Ronan pulled Cordelia over to the bed and kissed her again.

In bed, Ronan gently caressed Cordelia's stomach.

“Babies, time to bond with daddy.” Cordelia, lying on her side, spoke to her belly.

This made Ronan's heart warm.

The next morning, when Cordelia woke up, Ronan was already gone.

Cordelia frowned slightly. Didn’t they agree to go to the office together? Why did he leave early?

Just as she was wondering, Ronan walked out of the bathroom, still in his pajamas.

“You should sleep in. We’ll go to the office together later.”

Cordelia saw him again, and her face broke into a wide grin. “I can’t sleep anymore.”

Knowing she wouldn’t have to suffer a day filled with longing made Cordelia very happy.

Ronan went back into the bathroom.

Cordelia picked up his pillow, hugged it to her chest, and inhaled his masculine scent.

Perhaps this was what being in love was supposed to feel like.

Unfortunately, Ronan saw her greedily clutching at the pillow.

“What’s this? You have the real deal but still get sentimental over a pillow?” Ronan teased Cordelia as

he swapped his pajamas for a suit.

“You’re such a bore busy trying to decipher my thoughts,” Cordelia muttered.

After that, Cordelia got up to freshen up and get dressed.

By the time they left, it was nearly nine o’clock.

“Isn’t it a bit late?” Cordelia, sitting in the backseat, was a bit worried.

“Are you always this anxious?” Ronan glanced at Cordelia's worried face in the rearview mirror.

“Maybe.”

Cordelia thought, “He's the boss, even if he's late, he just strolls into the office without a care. Who's

going to say anything?”

When they arrived at the Audit Department, Milana asked Cordelia, “Cordelia, did you handle the

accounts for PrimeBuild Contractors last year?”

“Yes, I did. Why?”

“They want a comparison of two years' accounts. Hunter from PrimeBuild Contractors said you did their

accounts when you were at First Enterprises. He thought you would know, but I have a hunch that

something’s not right.”

Milana felt something was off, and Cordelia felt the same.
