The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 251

Chapter 251

Once inside the car, Cordelia heaved a sigh of relief. Having secured two contracts, she could look

forward to a busy period ahead.

"Aren't you going to celebrate with karaoke this time?" Ronan asked out of the blue.

Cordelia knew he was mocking her. She turned her head even further towards the window. "Depends

on the company!"

"So, are you implying that I'm only good for karaoke and sleepovers?" he probed further.

Ronan was seated in the front, with Cordelia in the back. His gaze kept darting to her through the rear-

view mirror. At the mention of "sleepovers," a flush crept up Cordelia's cheeks. "So, I guess I stood you

up then?" she retorted.

"And you found someone else to fill in?" he shot back.

"You seem pretty pleased with the outcome. After all, I still got the contracts." Cordelia's voice dripped

with disdain for Ronan.

"True. I can't beat you. You've already brought the bastard home before the divorce papers are even

signed." Ronan's voice was laced with bitterness.

"If it's a bastard, why did you help me secure the contracts? Don't think I didn't notice your power play

back there." Cordelia bit back, suppressing the anger bubbling within her.

"Well, I don't need the whole world knowing I've been cuckolded!" Ronan's voice was a low, gravelly

growl.

Cordelia turned her face toward the window, her chest rising and falling with suppressed emotion.

Ronan's words were harsh, and she was struggling to hold back her tears.

Upon reaching their apartment complex, Cordelia got out of the car and headed straight upstairs

without a word. Ronan followed, laden with documents.

Back in her own room, Cordelia sat at her desk, sulking. Ronan came in carrying the documents. As

soon as he entered, she turned her head away. Without uttering a word, Ronan placed the documents

on the desk and left.

That evening, Ronan didn't come home. Only she and Janice were left for dinner. "God knows where

he's off gallivanting now!" Cordelia said, her voice laced with annoyance.

"Probably at Pearl Palms, looking after Della." Janice offered.

"Who?" Cordelia frowned.

Janice realized she had been too casual with her words. "The black cat, Della. Mr. Evans calls her that,

and I've gotten used to it. He's probably out buying cat food for her. It's not like he's short on places to

stay."

Cordelia thought to herself, “At least now, after a quarrel, she wasn't the one being sent packing.”

After dinner, Jamie sent Cordelia a message on Messenger. [How have you been, Cordelia?]

[Good. I've secured two contracts, one with GreenPeace Enterprises and the other with PrimeBuild C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

Contractors. For me, securing business is the toughest part. But the paperwork is a piece of cake.]

Jamie sent a thumbs-up emoji. [Don't overwork yourself. Take a break for a few days.]

[Alright. I have an appointment with the doctor for a prenatal checkup tomorrow. My classmate Victoria

is doing it, so I don't have to wait in line. It'll be a walk in the park.]

[What time?] Jamie asked.

[Ten o'clock. Brooklyn is coming with me,]" Cordelia replied.

Ever since coming back from abroad, Cordelia had her prenatal checkups at Victoria's clinic, with

Brooklyn as her companion each time.

Soon after, Brooklyn messaged Cordelia. [Didn't Victoria say the prenatal checkup is tomorrow? I'll go

with you.]

[Great, at ten.] Cordelia shared her current address with Brooklyn. Afterwards, she told Janice that she

had a prenatal checkup the next day and Brooklyn would accompany her. She asked Janice to take the

day off.

Back in her room, Cordelia messaged Tristi. [I have a prenatal checkup at ten tomorrow, can you come

with me?]

[Sure] Tristi replied.

The next day, Brooklyn clocked in at Lumos Enterprises and prepared to skip work. Just as she was

leaving the office building, she ran into Ronan.

"What are you up to?" Ronan asked, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Ah, Cordelia has a prenatal checkup today, I'm going with her." Brooklyn knew mentioning Cordelia

usually worked.

As expected, Ronan scowled but didn't say a word. He walked past her, his face expressionless.

Cordelia was pregnant, but not once had he accompanied her for a prenatal checkup. Not for any other

reason, but because the child was not his.
