The Cherished Wife

Chapter 338

Noelle agreed, "Alright then, but I don't have much time. I have something to do later."

She remembered she had plans with Rowena and Teresa, who would be arriving soon. "My friends will be here shortly."© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

"Let's find a place to sit," Annie suggested, turning to Cindy. "Mom, I need to talk with Noelle. Why don't you head back first?"

Cindy gave Noelle a complicated look, recalling how her son had warned Annie not to offend Noelle. Though she did not see anything particularly threatening about Noelle, as Annie's mother, she instinctively wanted to protect her daughter.

She feared Noelle might bully her.

"Mom, it's okay. If you're worried, you can wait for me in the car. I'll be right there."

After reassuring Cindy, Annie glanced at Noelle. "Let's go to that café over there."

"Alright."

Noelle was not sure what Annie wanted to discuss, but she was curious about what had happened that night. Charles had not told her much, and Rowena and Teresa had not shared all the details either.

Noelle ordered a lime soda at the café. When Annie noticed Noelle's indifferent demeanor, it made her feel somewhat anxious. "Noelle, do you know that your indifferent, high-and-mighty attitude is really annoying?"

"Is that so?" Noelle raised an eyebrow. "Well, you dislike me. So no matter what I do, you won't be pleased anyway." She stirred her drink with the straw, pausing. "Then again, whether you like me or not doesn't really affect me." Annie was taken aback. She was rendered speechless by Noelle's retort, her face turning red with frustration. Noelle sighed. "You wanted to talk about that night, right? Go ahead. I was unconscious and don't remember much." She glanced at Annie's face. "And what happened to your face?"

Annie clenched her fists. "Who's backing you?"

Noelle was surprised by the question. She thought of Charles and bit her lip. "I don't have any backers. If you're looking for an explanation, all I can say is that I don't know."

Annie's fists tightened and loosened repeatedly. "I don't like you, I really don't. But my brother said my dislike for you was unreasonable.

"Then, I thought about it and realized

I didn't initially dislike you. It was after spending time with Winter. You always bullied her, and I found it intolerable. You look pretty, but your heart is so malicious. Winter is your sister, and you treated her horribly!"

Noelle was taken aback by Annie's words, finding them both ridiculous and frustrating. She did not know whether to think Annie was too kind or too foolish for believing that she was malicious to Winter.

Noelle asked incredulously. "When did you ever see me bully Winter? It's more like Winter bullied me! And you and Suzy... Whenever you saw me, you'd mock and ridicule me. When did ever bully her or any of you?"
