The CEOs Possession

Jealousy

The city bustled all around them, yet all Veil could think about was the man holding onto her hand so strongly that she couldn’t decipher the emotions behind his dark eyes. She hadn’t done anything wrong, at least none that she could remember.

And what was that bold declaration about touching what was his?

Anders let go of her hands the minute they reached the rooftop, and he sighed exasperatedly.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Running his hand through his hair, he stopped pacing and stood in front of her, towering above Veil.

“What the hell do you think you were doing?”

Veil’s heart thrashed against her chest as she tried to wrap her head around what was happening. It was just a dance, right? And she could dance with anyone she chose. It was a party, for God’s sake? So, why did it feel like she had committed a great offense?

“He asked me to dance, and I…”

“And you what?” He cut in, his face red with anger. “You allowed him to snake a hand around your waist like he owns you? Are you that cheap?”

The minute Anders saw him approach Veil back at the party, his mind couldn’t help but remember how Veil had easily smiled at him outside the office building.

Thinking about it only made him angrier. He feared how far they had gotten in their relationship, and it made him want to break something.

Anders wasn’t used to acting this way. From the very beginning, he got everything he wanted with a snap of his fingers. Yet, he was fussing about his secretary like some loser. It irked him as well.

“Mr. Roderiguez…” Veil started, but she had no idea what to say. Her pulse thumped so loud that she feared her boss would hear it.

Confusion clouded her eyes, along with something else she couldn’t even decipher for herself. She felt heat run through her body as if the temperature of the room had gone up a notch.

But they were on a rooftop. It had to be something else.

“You are my secretary, and as long as we are out on an official gathering, you belong to me. Are we clear?”

Veil would have pointed out that it was a party, and she was at liberty to do whatever she chose, but she remembered her father in the hospital and how she needed this job to be able to afford his operation.

“Yes, I understand,” Veil whispered, then swallowed.

“Do you have a boyfriend?” Anders asked again, with a look in his eyes. He needed to know who that man was and why she could easily throw her head back in fits of laughter with him but never with Anders.

Veil opened her mouth to say something, but at that moment, the wind picked up, teasing the few curls at the top of her head that had escaped the bun. The subtle movement caught Anders’s attention, and slowly, he lifted his eyes to her hair.

They stayed that way for a while, the silence wrapping itself around them like a thick cloak that could not be easily removed. Her heartbeat sounded too loud, and her throat suddenly dry. Veil flicked her tongue across her lips for moisture and, at that moment, realized that it was probably a wrong choice.

Anders dropped his eyes to her lips, and they parted slightly on their own accord. Veil tried to drag in breaths to quench the fire that had started in her, but no part of her body was responding. She stood there, frozen beyond time and space.

Right there, it was only the both of them in a world of millions of people.

And Veil hated it.

“Stay still,” Anders commanded in a brute tone, yet there was an underlining want in his voice that had Veil under arrest. She froze as Anders took a step closer, getting rid of every notion of privacy. It was the first time he had ever stood that close to her, and Veil was sure she would hyperventilate soon.

Anders’ hand went behind her, grazing her naked back slowly as he reached for her hair, tugging off the band that held her hair in place. Her silky brunette hair tumbled down her back in waves, and Veil let out a low gasp. She tried to excuse it in her head.

It was probably the cold.

“This is an extension of office hours, so your skin shouldn’t be exposed for the world to see. It is sick and unprofessional.”

Sudden anger coursed through Veil as Anders took a step away from her. She had had no control over the purchase of the dress, and if she had been allowed to wear something from her closet, she wouldn’t have her back exposed. Veil wanted to hate him right then, but not with him standing so close to her.

“I think that dress is lovely,” Orleans muttered, coming out of the shadows. His eyes darkened as he eyed their closeness, yet neither of them made any move to repair it. For one, Veil was in too much shock to get her limbs working. “It brings out the color of your eyes.”

Anders turned slowly to face Orleans, his palms folding into fists. “I believe your input wasn’t asked for.”

“Is this the mean boss you told me about?” Orleans asked Veil with humor underneath his tone.

“What are…”

“I’m tired,” Veil suddenly whispered, interrupting Anders. “Can I go home now, Sir?”

Anders looked from Orleans to Veil, and his insides twisted into a knot. In his head, the both of them were going to go home together, and Orleans’ hands would touch the very skin he had dreamed about grazing since he met her at the club. His hands would cover the very nipples Anders had made hard under his gaze in his mind.

“No,” he answered without batting an eyelid. “I’m still here, so that means you cannot leave before me. We’ll go back into that party, and you are going to have a good time. Because it is part of your job description.”

As Veil went back into the room, she felt Anders’ eyes all over her, unmoving. And she had a feeling that the night had only just begun.
