The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 230

Chapter 230

Rosalie pondered and concurred with the man’s idea, hence bobbing her head. “Okay.”

On the heels of that, she buried herself in breakfast, while Jonathan gazed at the woman feasting with a faint smile. The way she took one bite after another of the pancake and baguette, not to mention the gesture she scooped the custard pudding with a tiny spoon, were all royally adorable in his eyes.

Her long hair was tied into a ponytail, alongside her smooth forehead, delicate face, tranquil eyes, celestial nose, and pink lips-it was picturesque, so much so that it elevated his mood.

He had never thought that one day he would fall in love with a woman like her. Then again, it seemed to have happened naturally.

While Rosalie was eating, she inadvertently looked up and met Jonathan’s deep eyes. For a moment there, she only felt that her mind seemed to go blank upon being attracted to those eyes of his.

“What’s… wrong?” she asked in puzzlement.

“Nothing. I just think you’re really good-looking, Rosie,” said Jonathan.

Rosalie felt embarrassed, thinking, “Why did he say such a thing after having come across a plethora of beautiful women before?” Furthermore, in recent years, she had not been truly taking great care of her appearance. She, for one, knew that.. she looked, at most, average at present, and her image was a far cry from the definition of “good-looking.”

However, Jonathan’s eyes and expression were evidence of how serious he was.

“Well, is this because beauty is in the eye of the beholder?” Rosalie wondered. Then and there, she blurted out, “You… You’d better start eating now, or the food will turn cold and won’t taste good anymore.”

A chuckle came from the man. “Okay.” He then lowered his head and began to dig into his plate of pancake, baguette, and custard pudding.

Rosalie observed Jonathan as he ate his share of breakfast. It was nothing more than a simple meal, and even the pancake and baguette were wrapped in paper bags. One would have to handle the food with bare hands. Still, Jonathan’s way of eating screamed no less of elegance.

It was not an exaggeration to say that he could even pose for an advertisement.

The fact was, he was the good-looking one among them.

To think that Jonathan, a powerful individual in the entirety of Strico, would have breakfast at such a measly breakfast stall.

Not only that, but one could only wonder what the odds were for Rosalie to date a guy like Jonathan. Yet, it was already a reality.

Should one day the two of them really bear offspring, it would be a very beautiful thing.

It seemed that Rosalie’s feelings for Jonathan were gradually deepening unconsciously. “Have I fallen for him already?” she pondered.

That thought of hers was what filled her mind at that point.

After breakfast, Jonathan drove Rosalie to the former rental home. When Rosalie opened the door, the gust swept up a cloud

of dust.

Thinking about it, she had not been back for almost two or three months.

Rosalie began to sort out the things inside. Back when she moved to the Youngblood residence, she had taken all the important items. The rest were merely clothes and shoes for changing seasons, some bedding, and some pots and pans bought herself.

Considering that there were not many things, she managed to pack them rather swiftly.

“What are you planning to do with these?” Jonathan inquired.

she

“For these pots, pans, and bedding, I can turn them in and sell them for some cash to the collector somewhere near the traffic junction. As for these clothes and shoes, I’m going to wear them again, so I’ll be taking them with me.”

Jonathan checked out the clothes and shoes Rosalie was going to keep, only to find that they were all worn and torn. Although some of them seemed to be made from good-quality material, they were outdated and even washed out in color.

Deep down, Jonathan reckoned that those clothes must have been her belongings before she got into jail.

Even so, not a remark came from him. After all, even if he really wanted to spend money on her and replace all of her old stuff with good and new ones, he figured that it all needed to be carried out step by step.

He was afraid that if he was hasty, he would end up frightening her. Besides, it took the woman a heck of effort to finally lower her guard in front of him.

“Why don’t you wait for me here? I’ll be back soon.” As Rosalie spoke, she wanted to pick up the packed pots, pans/and bedding and go to the said collector near the intersection.

Ultimately, Jonathan was one step ahead of her. He grabbed hold of those things first and proclaimed, “I’ll do it. Open the door for me.”

“Oh,” she quickly responded, then walked to the door and opened it.

Jonathan took the tied-up pots and pans with one hand while carrying the bedding with another hand as he strode out the

door.

Rosalie hurriedly closed the door behind her and followed Jonathan.

“How about you let me take one? Anyway, my hands are empty.” Rosalie was quite embarrassed to let Jonathan carry all of them by himself.

“No, just lead the way,” he said.

When he dropped that statement, he seemed rather determined.

Rosalie had no choice but to lead the way first, but she would sneak peeks at Jonathan from time to time along the way.

He looked like a migrant worker in a Christmas travel rush, yet he was decked out in a suit, coupled with his ever-so-dashing looks. The contrast was fatal, or so it seemed.

“He must’ve never done anything this way in the past,” was Rosalie’s thought.

Finally, they arrived at the intersection. Rosalie saw the person who usually collected scraps in the residential area, thus stepping forward and asking, “Sir, I have some pots, pans, and used quilts. Do you still collect them here?”

“Yes, I do.” The old man grinned.

Nevertheless, the old man was startled the second he caught sight of the well-dressed Jonathan coming over with those stuff.

The old man mumbled while counting the used goods, and then pulled Rosalie to his side. He whispered, “Hey, miss, don’t you be fooled by men. This man may have dressed well and looked decent, but it doesn’t mean he’s really a nice person. I bet he’s only glamorous on the outside. If he was really rich, why would he make you sell these used items for a few dollars? He would’ve told you to throw them away.”

Rosalie knew that the old man had her best interest at heart, so she answered, “He’s my boyfriend. Well, I know him pretty well.” As she dwelled on the thought, she was pretty sure about her belief. At least, she knew about Jonathan’s family background, personality, and where he lived, not to mention she had also met Leonard.

Having said that, the experience of meeting Leonard was definitely a pleasant one.

The old man heaved a sigh. He obviously felt that Rosalie was the kind of person who was deeply enthralled, and no words could ever talk her out of it.

Just like that, Rosalie sold a pile of used goods for 20 dollars. After accepting the sum from the old man, Jonathan and she

walked in the direction of the rental home.

“What did the old man talk to you about just now?” he asked abruptly. Clearly, he saw how the old man had dragged the woman to the side and whispered something to her.

“He warned me not to be fooled by you.” Rosalie joked, “Tell me, then. Will you fool me?Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
