Chapter 458
Chapter 458
Seeing Allison’s indecision, Grace was worried about missing this golden opportunity. After all, this was
a rare chance for the kids to make up. And besides, Penelope’s necklace looked extremely expensive, This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
and Allison was always frugal and didn’t own any fancy stuff. So, she quickly grabbed Allison’s hand,
gave her a look, then slid off Allison’s bracelet and handed it to Penelope, “There you go, you two are
friends now. And I’m the witness.”
Allison looked at her mom and sighed. Her doubts were growing. Could Penelope be Grace’s real kid?
How ridiculous. She knew her mom always treated Penelope well but this was too much.
She nibbled her lower lip, “Mom…”
Grace gripped her hand tightly, super excited, “Allie, it’s just a bracelet, I’ll buy you a new one. I’m so
happy today. Seeing you two burying the hatchet, it’s like a weight off my chest.”
Allison’s words were choked back by the tears pooling in Grace’s eyes. And Penelope, clutching the
bracelet, couldn’t wait to put it on. She admired the yellow diamond on her wrist, sparkling under the
bright light. It was stunning. No wonder it was rare and pricey. Such a beautiful piece should belong to
her, not some dowdy poor girl like Allison.
“Allison, come visit me more when you’re free. I’d love to chat with you.” Penelope’s voice was
purposely soft.
Allison looked at Penelope coldly, “Sure.”
Grace couldn’t see Penelope’s twisted face, as she had her back turned. Allison really wanted to take a
picture of that face and show it to Grace.
Gently stroking the bracelet, Penelope mouthed at Allison, “What’s mine is mine. Including Lucian and
this bracelet.”
At 3 pm, Grace and Allison left the hospital.
Once in the car, Allison took Penelope’s necklace out of her bag. Seeing this, Grace hurriedly said,
“That necklace doesn’t look cheap. Just keep it, Allie. It’s pretty.”
Allison looked at her mom, and her mind was a whirl.
“Mom, do you really want me and Penelope to be friends that badly? Why? Whether I like Penelope or
not, what does it have to do with our life? I’ve disliked her since we were kids. We’re from different
worlds. Have you forgotten how she bullied me and framed me when we were young?” Allison asked.
“Of course I remember. But Penelope was just a kid back then. She doesn’t know better. Now she’s
grown up. She understood things after this incident and needed bed rest for half a year. Why dwell on
the past?” Grace said.
Grace wished she could see the two kids reconcile before she passed away. She knew her own health
condition and she may not have much time left.
“Mom.” Allison let out a deep sigh, “I don’t want to hear anything about Penelope. I do mind what she
did to me, and I will not forget. What she and Leah did to me, I will not forget either. Mom, have you
forgotten that Leah once locked you up in a mental hospital? Or that Penelope tortured you there?
They were the ones in the wrong! Why should we forgive them?”
“Allie, I know you’ve been having a rough time. I don’t blame Penelope. She’s turned, over a new leaf
and she knows she was wrong.” Grace said.
“No! Penelope hasn’t changed! She won’t admit she was wrong. She said she wanted to make up, so
she called me over. She’s just putting on a show for you! She’s playing tricks on you!” Allison said.
