Chapter 22
After I read the message, I admitted that it scares the hell out of me. My son had just met his father, what will happen to them?
“Daddy?” Hivo mumbled. I looked at the clock and it was midnight. I don’t know if Steven will go home tonight.
“He’s still at work son. Go back to sleep, we’ll wake you up when dad gets home.” I said smiling.
He yawned and fell asleep immediately. I tried to sleep but I couldn’t. So I stood up to get water.
I was surprised to see Steven sitting on the sofa and looking in vain.
He’s thinking deeply that he didn’t even notice my presence. I didn’t know how long he had been there.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
“Babe,” He looked surprise when he see me, he immediately stood up and approached me.
“Why-”
I couldn’t finish what I was going to say when he suddenly hugged me and buried his face in my neck.
“Babe, I’m tired,” he said.
Why are you tired? At your job or at your mom’s request?
“Babe,” he called.
“Hmm?” I replied while rubbing his back up and down.
“Let’s get married,” I was surprised. I didn’t react immediately. WHAT?
“When?” I’m just riding him along. He’s just joking right?
“Now,” he answered.
“What?” I laughed. What kind of joke is this? Is that possible?
“I’m serious babe. Let’s get married now.” I stopped laughing when I noticed how serious he was.
The next day, Steven stayed at home. He’s in the living room right now playing Hivo while I’m in the kitchen baking because we have guests later.
“Babe, you need help?” Steven said.
“Yes mom. You need help?” Our son said, imitating his father.
“No. thanks boys. Mama can do it. Just have fun there,” I said. If they were here to help, I might just mess things up. It will take me a long time.
“Mom, are you making brownies?” my son asked.
“And cake too, babe?” Steven added. I just shook my head because of them. I’m really grateful that I know how to bake even without proper training. Especially now that Steven and our son love sweets.
“Yeah, and cake too for dad, mom?”
I let out a deep breath. “Yes, my love. Brownies for you and cake for daddy.”
After a while, the guests arrived.
“Hello uncle Kael,” I heard my son say.
I was surprised that he remembers Kael’s face even he was just a little boy the last time he saw him.
“The kid is so smart, Kael, he remembered you right away. Whereas you have seen him before, yet you have no idea that he’s from our friend’s sperm.” The man I-don’t-know-who said. And they really blamed Kael for what happened.
“Yeah it’s my fault that I didn’t notice righ away. Hivo was still very young the last time I saw him.” He said when I looked at them, he was carrying my son now.
“No. It’s okay bud. It’s my fault too. Anyway, take a sit,” Steven said.
“Where’s Ben?” Steven asked them.
“Oh… That idiot, he said he’ll follow after he reaches his climax.” They laughed as the man who said that grimaced.
He was the man who went to the hospital. The person we saw at the airport.
“Hi Ria,” I smiled at Kael. It’s been a long time since I saw him because we didn’t see each other every time we visit them in Canada. He’s busy at work.
“Hello Kael. Long time no see,” I said. Steven suddenly wrapped one of his hands around my waist.
“Easy man, we won’t take Rialyn away from you.” Kael said laughing when he saw what Steven did.
“And besides, I’m taken,” Kael added.
“Me too,”
“And me-”
“Don’t bother Philip because you haven’t confessed to Hannah yet.” My eyes widened at Kael’s words. What the! He likes Hannah?
Philip just smirked at his friends when he was tease by them.
“Oh by the way Ria, this is Philip and this is Diego. I’ll be the one to introduce them because I think Steven doesn’t have a plan of doing that.” Kael said and looked at Steven who glared at him.
“Let’s eat? I cooked for all of you,”
“Yes food!” The three of them said together.
“Tss. ” Steven hissed, annoyed to his friends. I stomped his foot under the table.
“Ouch babe! It hurts,” he said but I just ignored him.
“Hello world! How are you?” We all looked at the newcomer.
“Hi uncle Ben,” my son greeted him.
He had only been with Ben for a day and he was immediately close to him.
“Hello big boy. How are you?” He picked up my son and messed up his hair.
“I’m okay uncle. Still handsome,” we all laughed at what Hivo said. I don’t know where he learned that.
“O’right. Just like me who is handsome too.” And my son giggled. I sighed.
“Hi Ria,”
“Hello Ben, come and join us,”
When I looked at the boys, they were already eating the cake.
“HEY! Give me some cake,” Ben nervously approached his friends to reach for the cake but Steven, ate the remaining slice.
“WHAT THE! MAN, WHERE’S MINE?”
“Hmm.. Yummy, sorry bro,” Diego said while drinking water.
What kind of people are they and they ate the 2 sets of two layer of cake I made? Are they some group of cake monsters?
Ben frowned and waned to cry.
“Bud, when will it done?” Steven asked seriously.
“2 years,” Ben answered bluntly.
“What? Too long, man!”
“Of course because you ran out of cake.” He answered. Oh my God! He’s so funny!
“Fine, I’ll buy you a lot of cake. Make it 1 day,” Steven bargained.
“1 week plus cake for 1 month. What do you think of me? Superman?”
“Your face looks like a cake. Okay fine as long as after a week, it’s done.”
“Yes, you are demanding, dude.”
I just shook my head at the nastiness of these two. They acting like a child.
The next day, Steven left early for work. Later, Hivo and I will bring him his lunch.
“Take a bath, son. We’re going to your father’s office now.”
“Okay mom,” Hivo turned off the TV and immediately went into the room to take a shower while I was preparing the things we were going to bring for Steven.
I’m not sure if it’s right to bring my son to his office but he made a request earlier so I agreed.
When everything was fine, my phone beeped so picked it up to see who was calling. Unknown number and it has five missed calls already.
‘Who is this?’
I waited for someone to speak on the other line.
My forehead furrowed that I could hear nothing but a sigh.
“Hello, who is this?”
But there was still no response so I was about to hang up the call when I heard the voice of the person I hadn’t seen for a long time.
My hands were shaking because God knows how much I was praying that the day would come when I could talk to her again, that I could hug her again.
Because I still want to be part of their family.
To be their daughter again.
“Ria,”
I cried. I’ve longed for her to call me her daughter again.
“Mom,”
Because even though she was not my real mother, she still stood as my mother.
“Can we see each other?” I gasped and couldn’t believe what I heard. Is this real?
“Yes mom. When?” I really want to see her again. I miss her so much.
“Later if it’s okay with you,”
I bit my lip because Steven and I had plans later.
“Okay mom. Just text me the address.” I said before hanging up.
I’ll just leave Hivo to his dad. Maybe they will understand if I postpone it first.
I would like to bring them both but I think it’s better if I talk to mom first. It’s been years since I last saw her. I missed her so much.
