The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 28 Police Interrogation

The cops took a moment to think. Since they were here to investigate and all the parents were around, they figured making a public investigation wouldn't break any rules. So, they started questioning right in the office. "Allison, hey, I'm Lyle Warner. We met last night!"

Allison nodded. "Hey, sir. Is there something from last night you still need to clear up?"

Lyle, looking all business, asked, "Last night, Mia got kidnapped by your classmate Sophia, and you went to save her. You took down the bodyguards hired by the kidnapper and stopped Sophia from attacking you, right?" Allison nodded and then recapped the events of the previous night in front of the teachers.novelbin

The teachers were stunned. Sophia hired thugs to kidnap Mia and almost killed Allison? Was this really a former student of Willowbrook High School?

Madeline couldn't handle it and started yelling at Allison. "Lies, all lies! Officers, don't be fooled by her! She's been trouble since she was young, messing around with men and even having an abortion in her teens. She must be framing Sophia!" Lyle shot a cold glance at Madeline and said, "Lies? The bodyguards involved in the kidnapping have already confessed. Your daughter Sophia paid them a lot to kidnap Mia and Allison, and even arranged for thugs to torture them before selling them into prostitution!"

Hearing this, Hayden lost it. "What did you say? What were they planning to do to Allison?"

Hayden's face went pale, and Allison quickly went over to calm him down to prevent a heart attack.

Allison comforted him, "Grandpa, don't be angry. The bad guys have been caught, and I'm fine, aren't I?"

"Fine? My granddaughter was kidnapped and almost sold into prostitution. How can they be so vicious!"

Madeline, of course, wouldn't believe that Sophia did these things, so she started to argue irrationally again. "Absolutely impossible. Sophia is so timid and doesn't even know any thugs. How could she do such a thing? This must be a frame- up. You police are just protecting that slut Allison!"

Her words were such an insult to the police, and they all got furious. "Mrs. Brown, do you have any evidence to support your claim that we are protecting Allison?" Madeline was at a loss for words as she really had no evidence.

Then the police continued, "But we have evidence that your daughter hired the bodyguards: phone recordings, transaction records, and even the thugs we caught have confessed. They all said your daughter paid them to do this! If you don't believe it, you can get a lawyer to check the evidence at the police station or even report it to higher authorities. We welcome any form of investigation!"

Lyle's words made it clear that the evidence was rock solid.

As a businessman, Nolan got the message and slumped into a chair, thinking the Brown family was really done for.

"We're here today because Sophia accused Allison of intentionally injuring her leg, so we need to determine if it was excessive self-defense," Lyle said, looking seriously at Allison.

Allison turned her head and met his gaze calmly. "I also have a question. What counts as not excessive self-defense? Should I have let her stab me a few times with a knife or let the bodyguards beat me to death before I could resist? The knife she used had her fingerprints and she intended to murder me. Shouldn't I protect myself and defend myself?"

"But according to Sophia's accusation, she said you crushed her kneecap!"

Allison sneered, "That's just ridiculous. I'm an eighteen-year-old girl. Sure, I've learned some self-defense, but crushing a kneecap? That takes a lot of strength. I doubt even you guys, as police officers, could do that."

Lyle nodded, already suspecting Sophia was trying to frame Allison. He'd seen plenty of people like that in his career. After questioning, he felt more confident. "This is just your side of the story. We still need to talk to Mia. Do you know where she is?"

Allison nodded. "Mia's at my house. She didn't want to worry her parents, so she's staying with me for now."

Before Allison could finish, someone rushed in from outside.

"Allison, are you okay?" Mia, having heard that the police were at the school looking for Allison, couldn't stay calm at home and begged her mom to bring her to the school.

Liliana was stunned by Allison's appearance at first sight. Despite hearing Mia rave about Allison at home, Liliana hadn't taken it seriously. After all, how exceptional could a young girl be?

But seeing Allison in person, Liliana realized she had been wrong. It was rare to see such a beautiful girl in Skycrest, one who even outshone Mia.

However, Allison seemed a bit cold, and only upon seeing Mia did her expression soften, which made Liliana curious about her.

Allison gave a faint smile at Mia. "I'm fine. The police are just here to understand the situation. Don't worry!"

"How can I not worry? Sophia is a lunatic. She had me kidnapped and taken to a warehouse and even beat me. Why aren't the police punishing this lunatic? Why are they here to question you?"

Mia was so angry she started crying. Her injuries were visible on her face, but Allison's were on her shoulder, hidden from view.

Allison comforted Mia, who stopped crying, but when Mia raised her head and saw Sophia's parents, she instantly exploded. "How dare you come to the school? Sophia is a murderer. She almost killed Allison. She's pure evil! She kidnapped me to lure Allison and hid a knife in her wheelchair. If Allison hadn't reacted quickly, she would have been stabbed by Sophia. You don't discipline your daughter and come here to trouble Allison? Where do you get the nerve?"

Mia, with her explosive temper, recounted the events of the previous night in front of the police, who recorded everything. Since there was no question of excessive self-defense, the police apologized to Allison before leaving. "Allison, we're sorry for disrupting your studies. Don't worry, we'll issue a statement to the school, clearing everything up and naming the actual culprit. People will understand the truth soon enough!"

Allison thanked the police, and Mia quickly grabbed her arm while starting to act spoiled. "Allison, do you want to stay at my house? Our chef cooks really well, and my parents are great. They will definitely like you, right, Mom?" Liliana looked at her daughter with a helpless smile, then turned to Nolan and Madeline, her expression turning cold. "Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown, you have raised quite a daughter! I've lived in Skycrest for forty years and have never seen such a ruthless girl. You must have taught her well!"

Nolan was quite terrified as he knew Liliana quite well and he never expected that Mia was from the Carter family. "Ms. Carter, it's a complete misunderstanding."

Liliana said coldly, "Whether it's a misunderstanding, I think the police have made it very clear, Mr. Brown. No one can bully a member of the Carter family and get away with it!"
