Chapter 63
The Billionaire’s Ex-Wife (Her Ex-Husband’s Regret) Chapter 63
Cassie.
I dial Attorney Magnus’s number.
“Cassie,” he answers after a few rings.
“Attorney, I just called to ask when the next matching will be.”
“Yeah, about that.” I can already sense a problem by the tone of his voice. “The others are getting more difficult to convince. Even if they are a match, there’s no guarantee they will be willing to donate.”
What?!
“That’s not what we discussed,” I argue. “You promised me they were ALL willing, didn’t you?”
“I know,” he says. “Don’t worry, Cassie. I am still trying to convince them, and I won’t stop until Kai has a match.”
“Yes, Attorney. Remember our deal. I agree to take over King’s Court for one primary reason. You promised that there are some members of the my family who will be willing to do a test if they are a match for my son.”
“I am just having a harder time to convince them, but I am not saying I won’t be able to. Do not worry about it.”
“Well, I’m running out of time! Tell them that if none of them goes for testing, they can kiss their shares at King’s Court goodbye!”
I hang up the phone, feeling frustrated. If I can’t find a match for Kai, then nothing else matters. Everything I have worked so hard for would have been for nothing.
I see Kayden stirring in the couch. Quickly, I turn around and wipe the tears on my cheeks. When he sees me crying, he will suspect something. And I cannot have Kayden asking too many questions about Kai.
“Cassie?”
I turn around and smile at him.
“Hey! Hungry? I reheated the breakfast that you cooked.”
I make coffee for both of us. I feel Kayden snake his arms around my waist, pulling me to him. He spins me around so he can look into my eyes.
“Good morning,” he greets me. He has a boyish look on his face as he pulls me to him into a hug. “Just let me hold you while.”
I sigh, melting into his embrace. I wound my arms around his waist as I lose myself into him. God knows I needed this! I Kayden and I didn’t divorce, we would have been sharing this burden. He would be sharing my pain. And he’ll be helping me find a way to extend our son’s life. I wouldn’t have to do this alone.
After breakfast, I volunteered to wash the dishes.
“You can call room service,” Kayden says. “They can clear this all for you.”
“Why? Do you think I don’t know how to wash the dishes?” I ask in a teasing tone.

I turn the sink. As I start washing the dishes, I feel Kayden stand behind me. He puts both hands on both my sides, caging me. Then I feel him nuzzle my neck, tickling me.
“Kayden,” I giggle.
“What?” he laughs. “Just continue what you are doing. Don’t mind me.”
•
He grins mischievously, his breath warm against the sensitive skin of my neck. The sensation sends shivers down my spine, and I can’t help but lean back into his touch,
His arms wrap around me in a gentle embrace, his closeness stirring up a whirlwind of conflicting emotions within me. I want to push him away, to remind myself of the pain he caused me with his coldness and neglect. But at the same time, I crave his touch, his warmth, the familiarity of his presence.
“Kayden…” I giggle. “Please, I need to finish this.”
He laughs. “Okay, fine. I’ll leave you to it.”
He gives me one last kiss in the neck before he disappears to the bathroom.
Kayden asks as if he cannot get enough of me. He’s really sweet, and I never saw that part of him before. He’s partly possessive, partly clingy. Who would have thought that a billionaire like him could be so boyishly romantic and sweet?
After I wash the dishes, I change into a pair of two-piece suit. Then I tie a colorful, sarong over my
waist.
I walk over to the private pool outside, watching as the storm clouds gather in the distance, painting the sky with hues of grey and silver.
Suddenly, I feel Kayden’s presence behind me..
“How long do you think this weather will last?” I ask,
He steps closer towards me, snaking his arms around
“To be honest, I never want it to end,” he replies.
my waist.
I know what he means. We had a deal. And it ends as soon as we get out of this place. When the storm ends, we will go back to how we are. Exes. Business colleagues. Nothing more.
As the first raindrops start falling over the swimming pool, I can feel the cool touch of the water on my skin. The sky us darkens with heavy clouds, the air thick with the scent of impending rainfall. Kayden’s arms around my waist tigh pulling me closer to him.
“Let’s swim,” he says.
I stare back at him in surprise.
“In the rain?”
“Why? Haven’t you bathed in the rain before?”
“No. Except maybe when I was a kid, and I…” It was raining that day I jumped in the lake to save his life. But no. I haven’t gone swimming under the rain just for the fun of it.This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
Kayden takes off his shirt. “Come on. We might not get this chance again.”

Without waiting for my response, Kayden slowly starts walking towards the edge of the pool, his hand still firmly holding
mine.
I kick off my sandals and remove the sarong around my waist. I dip my toes into the pool. The cool water sends a shiver my spine, but it only adds to the thrill of what I’m about to do.
Suddenly, Kayden hugs me. And then he jumps on the pool, taking me with him.

I shriek in delight as we both land on the water with a splash. The splashing water envelopes us, the coolness a stark contrast to the warmth of Kayden’s embrace.
We laugh together as Kayden pulls me to him, wrapping his arms around my waist. My own arms come to life, as I wrap them around his neck.
He stares at me deeply, not saying a word. I suddenly feel self-conscious.
“What? Is there something on my face?” I ask him shyly.
He shakes his head. “Do you know how beautiful you are?”
I turn away from him. But he gently cups my chin, turning my face back to meet his gaze. His eyes are full of sincerity and adoration, making me feel vulnerable yet cherished.
“You are not shy with flatteries, are you?”
“It is true. You are stunning. Inside and out. From the moment I first laid eyes on you.”
A blush crept up my cheeks, the sincerity in his voice melting away any doubts or insecurities. In that moment, under the grey sky and amidst the raindrops cascading around us, I felt seen in a way I never had before.
“You make me feel beautiful,” I whisper.
“You are beautiful. Always have been. Always will be.” He leans forward to give me a gentle kiss on the lips.
He pulls me to him again. I feel him cupping my butt cheeks, making me wrap my legs around his waist. He cradles me in’ his arms as if I’m a crystal ball.
“I will protect you. With me, you will always be safe,” he says.
I sigh happily. If only he treated me this way when we were married.
He pulls away from me slightly, so he can look into my eyes. “Cassie… you know that you can trust me, you know.”
I nod. For the first time since I met him, I really do feel like I can put my life in his hands.
“If there’s something bothering you, you can tell me. I will do whatever I can to make it better.”
Huh? What is he saying?
It’s almost as if he knows that I’m carrying a heavy burden inside.
“You can count on me,” he says. “Not just here. Not just now. But even after this. You can lean on me, and I will always have your back. Do you understand?”
I smile at him as I nod. “I’ll remember that.”

I pull him into another embrace. Tears threaten to spill from my eyes. I’m quite thankful for the rain, as it masks my tears. I can feel his sincerity. I wish he had shown me this back when we were married.
“Now, Cassie…” Kayden’s voice suddenly turns sober. “Is there anything you want to tell me?”
