Chapter 631 Expanding National Territory
Chapter 631 Expanding National Territory
Upon hearing Balthazar's words, everyone was in shock. They did not expect Balthazar to have such
ambitions: he wanted to expand the territory of Diatoran!
"Your Majesty, Diatoran is very far away from Vadesia and Astronia. We might be thrown into dire
straits if we attack these four countries at the same time!"
"He's right! Only Estrya is nearer to us. Filren is far away from us, too. We'll be met with multiple Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
difficulties if we fight countries a long distance away from us."
"Everyone has witnessed the damage brought by the battle held in Southlake City. Now that the
situation has finally calmed down, I think we shouldn't start another war. Otherwise, it'll bring about a lot
of deaths and casualties."
Several generals expressed their opinions quickly. Everyone found them to be sound. Diatoran still had
not recovered from the previous battles, and deploying troops to fight in another war now would be too
high a risk.
"The three of them gave sound perspectives. How about the others?" Balthazar asked.
Senior General John Anderson suddenly piped up, "It's my personal opinion that these four countries
harbor nefarious motives toward us. Even if we don't attack them, they'll do so after they regroup and
recover.
"I think that this is an opportunity that's really hard to come by for us. We should make use of the
advantageous situation we're in now after our recent wins and strike and wipe these countries out!"
"We're in high spirits now, that's true, General Anderson. Attacking four countries at the same time is
still somewhat difficult, though. If they band together against us again, Diatoran might collapse!" a high-
ranking official said.
Upon hearing his words, everyone thought about it seriously. Attacking four countries was a bold
proposal. A slight misstep and Diatoran would be plunged into a situation beyond saving.
"Your Majesty, Diatoran has just achieved an impressive victory, and we've managed to kill Robert
Valez and Viktor Obrien. Both Astronia and Vadesia don't hold a candle to us.
Estrya and Filren are also nothing to worry about. I think that we can embark on a military campaign
against these countries and start a war!" Benjamin, the Champion of North Aridlands, said.
"Champion Hart makes a good point." Balthazar nodded.
"Although the Champions in both Astronia and Vadesia were killed, Your Majesty, these countries retain
their resources and power. Their armies are the strongest in the world, too.
"If we start a war rashly without learning about their terrain, the possibility of us defeating them is low. If
the battle ends up being dragged out, there is a high possibility of us losing!"
"Exactly! Diatoran has suffered from a great amount of losses. We should regroup and recover
internally before doing anything else."
Two other higher-ups quickly added their opinions.
Balthazar noted that everyone had different opinions on the matter. He was also hesitating on that now,
and he could only look at Caspian, asking him, "What do you think about this, Caspian?"
Caspian was silent. He was thinking if this could or could not be done.
"Your Majesty, I think we'll have to postpone this matter. Attacking four countries at the same time is
very risky for us!" Caspian said.
Everyone looked at each other in confusion. They all knew of Caspian's confrontational tendencies—he
was unexpectedly calm this time, however.
This was shocking, especially because Caspian had been punished by Balthazar because of the
magnitude of his heroic deeds and for his exceedingly confrontational disposition.
"Oh? I didn't expect you to oppose this, Caspian. Are you afraid?" Balthazar asked in bafflement.
"I don't know what being afraid feels like. However, it is not a good idea to start a war when Diatoran
still hasn't recovered from the previous battles," Caspian said.
"These four countries attacked Diatoran and caused our people to lose their homes. Should we just let
that go? That's incredibly frustrating!" Balthazar said.
"Of course we can't just let that go," Caspian said.
"What other ideas do you have, then, Caspian?"
"We can have them cede some of their territory to us and pay reparations. We can recover for a while
before planning for the future," Caspian said.
"What if they don't want to?" Balthazar asked.
"Then, we can put on a pretense of starting a war. After these countries are intimidated, they will surely
pay us obediently," Caspian stated calmly.
"What if they aren't intimidated?" Balthazar was still a bit worried.
"These countries are not to be trifled with. What should we do if they aren't fooled by our act?"
"If you ask me, we should just send out our troops. Why go to all that trouble?"
"Yes! We should start a war immediately and expand our territory!"
Several generals were eager to ask for permission to go to war. They had discerned Balthazar's desire
—to seize this opportunity to expand Diatoran's influence.
"We have succeeded in winning every battle we have fought in precisely because we were on the side
of justice.
"If Diatoran suddenly launches an attack on other countries, we'll become demons who invade
everywhere, and it'll be incredibly hard for us to achieve victory in that case," Caspian said.
Everyone gave Caspian's words serious thought upon hearing him.
"Vadesia, Astronia, Filren, and Estrya have been planning secretly to strike against Diatoran. They've
also created some minor skirmishes within our maritime territory. This has gone on for a long time.
"If we don't extinguish these countries, they'll surely attack Diatoran again after recovering from the
previous battles. A large-scale war cannot be avoided.
"Rather than waiting for them to come, we should take the initiative to strike. Relations between these
countries have taken a turn for the worse, anyway.
"If we strike against them now, we'll be starting a defensive war at most, not a full invasion. We must
make these countries pay a hefty price," Balthazar explained his opinion in a long speech.
Everyone finally had a realization. Since it seemed that Balthazar wanted to start a war, those who had
initially objected to it were now saying something else.
"That's a great idea, Your Majesty! As a country with plentiful land and abundant resources, Diatoran
owns various cutting-edge weapons. We have several hundred more hurricane missiles, too. Defeating
these countries will be a piece of cake!"
"Exactly! These countries have been giving us trouble consistently, Your Majesty. If we don't teach
them a lesson, they won't just stop here!"
"They've already come together in an alliance, so we must retaliate in kind."
"You're right. If we don't beat the pulp out of these countries, they'll attack us again in the future.
Diatoran can't just sit here and wait for misfortune to befall us!"
"Only by seizing this opportunity can we boost Diatoran's national prestige!"
All the higher-ups were showing support for Balthazar to start a war. Those who had been on Caspian's
side and were objecting to the war had now changed their opinion.
This made Caspian feel somewhat helpless—these higher-ups were so fickle. Caspian was not
worried, though. Even if everyone was on Balthazar's side, there were still some words he had to say.
