Chapter 380
Chapter 380
As dusk fell, Naomi brought Mia a glass of juice, “Drink up and get some sleep.”
Mia opened her mouth and wanted to tell Naomi about Leo’s whereabouts. But soon she stopped
herself. She was considering Naomi’s temperament. Although Naomi was always quick to nag at Leo,
she would panic if she knew he might be in danger.
If she called him too much, it would distract him. If Leo didn’t answer her calls, she would feel very
nervous at home. Therefore, Mia decided not to tell Naomi. She took the juice, “Thank you, Naomi.”
“Ah, you silly girl, no need for thanks. We’re family. Your gratitude makes it sound like we’re strangers.”
Mia huddled into Naomi’s arm, smiling sweetly, “I was just showing my appreciation. Naomi, don’t take
it too seriously.”
After working in his study for over two hours, Andre returned to their room, deliberately softening his
footsteps, not wanting to disturb his wife’s sleep. The lump on the bed suddenly spoke, “Honey, turn on
the light. I can’t sleep.”
Upon hearing this, Andre turned on the bedside lamp and walked over to his wife who was rubbing her
belly, “Why aren’t you sleeping?”
Mia sat up, “How can I sleep when you’re not here?”
Andre sat next to her, gently stroking her hair, “You’re hard to please, aren’t you?”
Mia snuggled up to him. Her face was pressed against his shoulder. “I’m always hard to please, but not
when it comes to you.”
“You lie down. I’ll go take a shower.”NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
“Hold on, darling. First accept my surprise gift. If we wait any longer, our baby will be asleep and we’ll
have to wake him up tomorrow.”
A hint of amusement flickered across Andre’s eyes, “What does the surprise have to do with our baby?”
Mia guided Andre’s hand to her belly, "Feel this. He’s particularly active at night. If you press against
my belly, he’ll kick his little feet to communicate with you.”
Andre had heard about fetal movements, but he’d never experienced it before. He helped Mia lie down,
and lifted her dress. Her round belly was exposed. He placed his hand on her belly, but the baby, who
had been kicking just a moment ago, suddenly stopped.
Andre looked at his wife. Mia also looked at him. Wasn’t the baby just kicking? Mia placed her hand on
her belly, “Baby, kick.”
Feeling Mia’s warmth, the baby inside her became excited again, causing a faint ripple on her belly.
Andre saw it, but the moment his hand touched her belly, the baby stopped kicking again.
Mia shouted at her belly, “Keep kicking. Your dad is back.”
No response.
Mia asked, “Baby?”
There was still no response.
Mia looked at her husband, “Darling, I think he wants to hear you call him baby.”
The aloof Andre said, “It’s very hard for me to say it out.”
“I thought so too, but he insists. Even if I call him baby, it doesn’t work.” Mia continued, “I not only call
him baby, but I also have to tell him that I love him all the time, in order to get him to kick a couple
times. You need to add ‘I love you’ after calling him baby. Otherwise, he won’t do it.”
Every time Andre heard his wife mention their son, he was filled with an inexplicable sensation. “You
say it out for me.”
“He can recognize voices, so it won’t work.”
Andre withdrew his hand, “Then I don’t want him to kick.”
With a cold demeanor, Andre got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Mia frowned, looking at her belly, “What’s wrong with you? Are you breaking our agreement? If you
don’t show it to your dad later, I won’t breastfeed you after you are born.” The belly started to move
again.
Mia threatened her unborn son, “If you don’t kick later, you’ll have to drink formula milk after you’re
born. I’m not planning to breastfeed you. Other babies drink breast milk and get chubby, while you’ll
have to drink formula and look pitiful. Anyway, your dad is rich. You won’t drink him into poverty.”
The belly continued to move.
“We agreed with each other, right? Don’t forget it later.”
Not long after, Andre came out of the bathroom. Mia quickly waved him over to try again. She had just
given an inspiring speech to their son, so he should cooperate this time.
However, when Andre’s hand touched her belly again, the baby still didn’t move.
Mia told her husband, “When he’s born, we let him drink formula milk.”
The ruthless Andre replied, “Formula milk is a waste of money. Let him drink water.”
Mia didn’t manage to give her husband the surprise. She lay down, feeling disappointed, and waiting
for her husband to dry his hair and come to bed.
Andre seemed to be Mia’s personal hugger. Before he could reach out, Mia had already snuggled into
him. “Honey, forget about our son, focus on me.”
“Alright.” Andre leaned down and gently kissed her.
Mia fell asleep quickly with her husband by her side, and soon she was deep in slumber.
Once he was sure his wife was asleep, Andre’s large hand rested on Mia’s belly, whispering in his
heart, “Baby?”
Then, a small ripple appeared under Andre’s palm, kicking back and forth several times. A smile
appeared at the corners of Andre’s mouth. A man has to be a little aloof, so he can’t compromise in
front of a woman.
Before going to sleep, Andre leaned over, kissing his wife tenderly and gazing at her for a long time.
The next day.
Mia didn’t wake up when Andre was already dressed for work. He sat by the bed, not wanting to disturb
her. He first called his nephew, Leo, who seemed to be woken up by the phone call. Andre asked him,
“What time did you go to bed last night?”
“Two in the morning. I searched all the casinos but still didn’t see him. His acquaintances didn’t see him
either.” When Leo was fully awake, he said, “I’ll go to his house.”
Andre couldn’t express his concern directly, but his instructions revealed his worry for his nephew.
“Remember to have breakfast.”
“Alright.”
After hanging up, Leo immediately threw off the covers. Without wearing clothes, he went to the
bathroom to freshen up. Then he went to the dining room for breakfast before heading out.
Mia woke up around nine o’clock. It was normal not to find her husband at home. She contacted Molly
to ask about Chad’s situation.
“Oh my God!!! My mom, my brother, my dad, my grandparents, my whole family!!! They all let me
neglect my brother for a $4,000 salary! Money is nothing compared to my brother!” Jade, who was at
the office, yelled.
Mia answered, “Your brother probably doesn’t need you by his side. If you went there, he’d have to
take care of you. So, it’s less worrying for you to go to the office.”
“Who told you that? I was feeding my brother dinner just last night.”
Mia replied, “And did he refuse?”
“Would it matter if he did?”
“Well, now I understand why they always force you to go to work.”
