Chapter 344
Chapter 344
"Molly, how could you bring food in here?"
Molly pulled another pack of gummies from her bag, saying, "Studying is such a drag. I need to munch
on something to keep the energy up."
Leo reminded her, "Hey, we're in a library."
Molly waved it off. "No biggie, they're pretty chill here. During winter break, I came with my bro and had
snacks." She even brought a drink.
Mia felt like her husband was keeping a tight leash on her, not even letting her bring snacks out. If she
had known, she would've brought some too.
"Mia, I read online that your legs can cramp up when you're five months pregnant. You need calcium,
so I brought you some milk tablets."
Molly put the milk tablets on the table.
"With Chad not around, you're really living the dream," Mia said, enviously.
Molly nodded. "Yeah, when my brother's not home, I'm free as a bird." She started munching on pine
nuts. Mia also took a pack, opened it, and started eating.
Leo looked at the pile of books on the table, wondering how these two could say with such confidence
that they were going to study till late into the night.
Soon, Molly's phone buzzed. She took a look and immediately hung up. "Is that one of your admirers?"
Mia asked curiously.
Molly glanced at the caller ID. "Don't know, but it could be Jack. I made it pretty clear last time that I
wasn't interested, but he still calls me. When his number doesn't go through, he uses a new one. What
a bore."
Mia took her milk tablets and said, "There are many types of suitors. Some know when to quit, others
run headlong into rejection. Jack is the shameless type."
He was in his twenties and had been clearly rejected but still pursued, causing trouble for others. But
he only called once, Molly didn't pick up, and he didn't call again.
Soon, Chad called. Molly instantly brushed off the pine nut crumbs from her hands, answered the call,
and whispered, "Hey, Chad."
Chad asked, "Are you studying?"
Molly looked at the snacks on the table. "Of course."
Mia was eating pine nuts and quietly laughed at Molly's lie.
Chad, "Take a picture and send it to me."
Molly quickly picked up a book, flipped it open to a random page, and confidently said, "Just a pic, no
problem. Even a video call would be fine."
Meanwhile, in another city, Chad was calling his sister outside the police station. Passing officers would
greet him, "Officer Chad, talking to your girlfriend?"
Chad nodded. "Yeah, you guys go ahead, I'll be in soon."
Molly blushed when she heard that and asked, "Bro, why are you telling people I'm your girlfriend
again? Are people trying to set you up on a date in other cities too?"
Chad answered, "I haven't been set up. Even if I were pursued, they're all law enforcement officers. It's
better they know I have a 'girlfriend.'"
Molly said, "Send me your location!"
"Why do you need my location? Just study."
Molly bit her lip and said, "Should I come over to prove you have a girlfriend?"
"Just focus on your studies. You still have exams. I'm going to a meeting now. Remember to send me
the picture." After saying that, Chad hung up.
Molly put down her phone and looked at her two friends, who were staring at her. "Am I that stunning to
have you both dumbstruck?"
Mia asked, "Are you your brother's girlfriend?"
"I'm just his excuse to ward off his suitors."
Leo, being a guy, understood men the best. He moved to sit next to Molly. "Jade, does your brother
have feelings for you?"
Leo's expression was clear when he said that. Molly instantly understood and looked around. "Leo,
don't think I won't smack you just because we're in public."
Mia also moved to sit next to Molly and whispered, "Molly, do you have feelings for Chad too?" Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Molly turned to look at the two people on either side of her, shocked. "What kind of question is that?
What normal person would have those kinds of thoughts about their own brother? My brother is young,
handsome, gifted, and a good person, but he's my brother. How could I possibly have those kinds of
thoughts about my own brother?"
Mia and Leo looked at each other. "But you treat Chad differently from other guys."
"Mia, let me ask you, do you treat Cooper the same as other guys? If I said you have feelings for
Cooper, would you be disgusted?"
Mia hit the nail on the head. "Cooper is my biological brother, but Chad isn't your real brother."
Molly didn't say anything. She looked at Leo, who also said, "You can't tolerate the smell of my
smoking, but you can tolerate Chad's."
Molly replied, "I just worry that smoking at a young age can harm your physical and mental health. I'm
just looking out for you."
Leo tossed the question to Mia, who said, "When you have problems, you always go to Chad."
"He's my bro, and I'm his sister. Who else am I supposed to go to?"
"You never go to my husband," Mia said.
Molly made an excuse. "Andre is already married. If I, as his sister, kept troubling him with my
problems, you'd be annoyed. Plus…" Molly looked Mia up and down. "You alone are enough trouble for
him. I won't add to the chaos."
Mia shook her head and took the blame. "Let's not talk about that now. When you have a problem,
even though my husband could solve it with a single sentence, you still go to Chad."
Molly argued, "Chad is awesome too, okay?"
Mia and Leo both pointed at Molly. "Look at you, the moment Chad is mentioned, he's unrivaled in your
heart, not even by the top-notch Andre."
Molly swatted their hands away. "Alright, enough with the nonsense. Chad and I have always been like
this. You guys don't have brothers, so you wouldn't understand."
Seeing Molly's aversion to the topic, Mia and Leo stopped pressing.
"Mia, come help me take a picture. I need to prove to my bro that I'm studying."
Mia grabbed her phone, drew all the clutter from the table towards her, and then snapped a few close-
up shots of Molly. "Molly, you're up next to play photographer for me. Gotta show off to my hubby a bit."
Their chitchat paused for a moment, and after the photos were taken, the two ladies returned to their
food and drinks.
Chad got a photo from Molly, glanced at it, and put his phone down. His colleague asked, "What's up,
Officer Chad? What are you looking at?"
"Just a picture of a woman trying too hard to look good," Chad replied with a slight grin. The woman in
the photo was pretty, but her pose looked a bit too staged!
Meanwhile, at his office, Andre also received a photo of his wife, sitting in the backlight, seemingly
engrossed in her studies. He chuckled softly, "Mia's up to her tricks again."
