Chapter 301
Chapter 301
"What did you just say?" Mia was so shocked she sat straight up in bed, her hair a total mess. Her
husband silently helped tidy her up a bit.
"I, your little brother, Cooper, am back in the country! Did you catch that?" Cooper repeated.
At the international exit of the airport, a teenager walked out pushing a black suitcase. He was wearing
a gray cotton jacket, with a pair of black wireless headphones, making a call at the airport entrance. He
watched the passing cars, feeling the joy of being back home.
Cooper hadn't been back for more than a year.
Looking at people around Cooper felt a mix of emotions. Although he was a bit on the thin side, he was
quite tall.
Cooper was always a pain in the neck. When Mia got a nine on a test, she was thrilled and brought it
home to share. But Cooper just had to rain on her parade, "You're already over the moon about a nine.
If I got a ten, should I pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate?"
After that, Mia smacked him.
When she grew older, Mia bought a necklace and excitedly asked her family if it looked nice. Cooper
started again, "It looks like a dog chain."
He got smacked again.
Mia bought a pretty dress, and he said, "It’s a total disaster for you in that dress."
So Mia smacked him a third time.
Lots of times, Cooper took advantage of his smarts to tease his sister, Mia. There were many times
when Mia couldn't tell if he was mocking her, but she knew Cooper's words were generally not
pleasant. So every time Cooper said something, she would smack him.
When they were young, their home was lively with Mia and Cooper fighting, and their parents always
had to intervene.
Despite the constant bickering, the two of them were very close.
Cooper was sent abroad before he turned 15. The Irvin family’s parents wanted him to gain some life
experience, so they sent him abroad alone. When he was still in the country, Mia was like before,
messing around with Cooper every day. However, when they sent Cooper to the airport and heard his
plane fly away, Mia's longing burst out from deep within her. She couldn't help but cry uncontrollably at
the site.
This attracted the attention of those around her.
Their parents were also very sad, but they knew that if they wanted their children to learn to be
independent, they had to let him live his own life.
Mia and her mother cried all the way home.
Cooper spent his 15th birthday overseas. Back home, as soon as it turned midnight, Mia was sitting by
her phone, ready to call him.
During that time, Mia was always distracted in class. She would secretly check foreign news on her
phone. Whenever there was unrest somewhere, she would check on the map to see if it was far from
her brother. Every morning when she woke up, the first thing she did was to check the news.
Mia's father, though he didn't say it outright, subscribed to foreign newspapers for five years. These
newspapers could be seen either in his office or at home.
If it weren’t for caring about Cooper, Mia wouldn't have been threatened by Hansen from the start.
Although Cooper always had a sharp tongue, he cared a lot about his sister. When Mia was in junior
high, she was pursued by a boy. When Cooper found out, he exploded, yelling at Mia, "Make him
disappear from my sight immediately!"
He was only 13 at the time.
Before going abroad, he even threatened Mia, "Mia, don't you dare start dating. If you do, don't blame
me for sneaking back."
Mia promised well at the time.
But now that he was coming back. If she told Cooper that she hadn't dated but was already married,
she didn't know if he could accept it.
……
Yesterday, when Cooper heard a man's voice on the phone, he started to worry. Could his sister really
be involved with another man? The more he thought about it, the more he felt something was off. He
called his parents, but they wouldn't tell him the truth.
So, Cooper took a leave of absence from school. He hung up the phone yesterday and bought a ticket
for the earliest flight back.
Cooper’s surprise gave Mia a headache in the Cedillo family. It was too sudden; she wasn't even Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
prepared.
Cooper said, "Hurry up and pick me up. I'm at the airport entrance."
Mia heard the airport announcement over the phone, and she knew Cooper was really back. She was
stunned, hung up the phone, and sat on the bed, looking at her husband who had been watching her
for a while.
Andre didn't say anything, and Mia didn't dare to make a sound.
"Let's go, get dressed and go to the airport to pick him up." Andre had heard the entire phone call. He
was curious to see how his wife would introduce him to Cooper when they met.
They had been married for so long, and she dared to hide their marriage!
No wonder Andre had always been puzzled, why Mia's brother had never called him. If they didn’t get
along, why would Mia protect the Cedillo Group and be forced to marry him by her father? Wasn’t it
because that she wanted to secure a future for Cooper?
But if they got along well, why didn't Cooper ever call him and warn him not to bully his sister?
After some pondering, Andre finally understood. Turns out Cooper didn't even know he existed!
Was it because he was too shameful? Was it that his status was unworthy of her, of being known by
her brother?
He had been upset about it until now.
Mia still kept her head down, barely even daring to breathe. She was thinking to herself, “I'm screwed.
Andre is going to divorce me.”
Andre said to her, "What are you still dazed for? Do you want me to dress you?"
Hearing Andre's stern words, Mia immediately got out of bed and ran to change her clothes. Her heart
was pounding in her chest.
All she hoped for now was for a big crack to suddenly appear in the ground so she could crawl in and
never come out.
Given Andre's level of affection for her, coupled with her lack of driving skills, she believed he would
definitely accompany her to pick up her brother. By the time Andre and Cooper met face to face,
everything would be clear as day, no need for explanation. Mia had even got a mental picture of her
own funeral, with both of them dancing on her grave.
After changing, she slumped on her husband's watch counter, not ready to face the new life ahead of
her.
Andre had made his way into the bedroom. He was already dressed for work, ready to head out to the
office. But considering the likely encounter with Cooper, he figured he'd better change his outfit again,
to avoid Cooper looking down his nose at him.
He swapped out his tie for a new one, which happened to match the shade of Mia's dress.
By the time he got around to changing his watch, he found Mia blocking his watch cabinet.
He didn't feel pity for her!
