Suddenly There Are Three (Bailey and Artemis)

Chapter 1027 Trapped Myself

Bailey looked at him coldly. Her face was devoid of any expression.

“It's too complicated and burdensome. Just set a date, invite some friends and family, and have a wedding banquet. There's no need to go

through so much trouble.”

She was past the age of coveting romance. Grand weddings and billion-dollar dowries were all mere formalities to her.

“That won't do.” Steven dismissed the idea without a second thought.

He was hoping to use the wedding preparations as an opportunity to mend his relationship with his daughter; he would not have that chance

anymore if she married into the Luther family without the pomp.

That thought also occurred to Waverly. She gave a light chuckle. “I know you like to keep things simple, but a wedding is something you only

do once in your life. Surely we can't be so hasty! You might feel indifferent about it right now, but you might regret it when you see other

people having grand weddings in the future. In that case, why not take this opportunity to do it right? Don't worry, your father and I will be

here, and we will make it as stress-free as we can for you. Leave everything to us.”

Bailey frowned slightly. She kept her head bowed, not saying a word.

“If Artemis doesn't plan the wedding to the tee,” Zeke interjected, “then he might as well not marry at all. I won't approve of this marriage.”

Bailey's expression darkened. She shot him a cold glare and asked in a chilling voice, “Does this mean I have to stay at the Shurmer residence

during the preparation period?”

Zeke nodded with a smile. “That is what tradition dictates,” he said nonchalantly, ignoring the sarcasm in her words. “If you want a good start

to your marriage, you should follow the rules. For now, stay away from the Luther residence and remain at the Shurmer residence.”

Artemis was rendered speechless. Why do I get the feeling that I'd shot himself in the foot?

Bailey glanced at him, a cold smirk playing on her lips. “Dug yourself a hole, didn't you? Fine. Since you put it this way, Zeke, I'll stay at the

Shurmer residence for the time being.”

Artemis was just about to suggest that she stayed at Shelbert Condominium but a warning glance from Zeke made him swallow his words.

He then turned to his father-in-law, whose expression seemed to say, “If you dare to ruin the opportunity to mend my relationship with my

daughter, I won't let you forgive you.”

Thus, Artemis tactfully shut his mouth.

I can't fall asleep without holding my wife! I dug myself such a large hole that I ended up falling in, and there's no way to get out now.

Godd*mn it!

Bailey lowered her head. Her lips curled upward in a faint smile.

It would be good to stay at the Shurmer family's place for a while; without a decent home to call her own when she got married, her life would

be a complete failure.

“Lunch is ready, Mr. Luther, Mrs. Luther. You may proceed to the dining room.”

The butler's voice echoed from outside, breaking the awkward silence that filled the living room.

The couple stood up. Just as Waverly was about to lead Bailey and Artemis to the dining room, her husband stopped her.

She froze for a moment, then quickly understood her husband's intentions.

This being her own home, it might make things awkward if she were to lead her daughter and son-in-law to the dining room; it would be

better to let things take their natural course and follow behind them instead.

Waverly beamed. After casting an appreciative look at her husband for his thoughtfulness, she linked her arm with his and headed toward the

door.

Zeke pulled Juliana up, who was sitting in the corner, and followed suit.

Trailing behind all of them, Bailey and Artemis took their time.

“I've made sacrifices for your parents at my own expense,” Artemis grumbled. “Can't you at least leave a window open for me? I could climb

in every night to sleep with you.”

Bailey scoffed. “You asked for it.” Then, she headed toward the door.

...

Lionel arrived punctually for his appointment at the VIP room on the third floor of Violet Rosette. Pushing open the room door, he found

Lynda sitting by the window.

A faint scent, reminiscent of sandalwood, yet akin to agarwood, wafted through the room.

He did not have the time to delve deeper, because Lynda began speaking, “I thought you were going to stand me up, but you came. I'm really

happy, Lionel. I've asked you out several times, and you've turned me down for various reasons each time.”

Though he had a different purpose this time, she was still delighted.

All she wanted in life was for him to be by her side, gazing together at the bustling city below and enjoying the peaceful passing of time.

Lionel strolled over and sat across from her. Without any unnecessary formalities, he asked bluntly, “What will it take for you to leave the

Saunders family alone?”

Lynda was not upset by the question. Instead, she smiled. “My dealings with Saunders Group are just normal business competition. The law of

the jungle is vividly demonstrated here. LG Corporation has also swallowed up quite a few of its peers, hasn't it? Bankruptcy acquisitions are

not uncommon in this circle. However, it's different with Saunders Group. De Lux doesn't often take action against a company. Even if we

want to acquire, we will only target those with utilitarian value. I don't believe Saunders Group contributes much to the development of De

Lux. After all, it's just a small domestic company that hasn't yet entered the international market.”

“We're both sensible people, Lynda. Enough beating around the bush. Let's break it down and talk about it, whatever it is.” Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

Lynda's lips curled. She picked up the tall glass from the table and took a few hearty sips without the slightest worry about getting drunk.

“All right, then. If that's what you want, let's talk about it. You know better than anyone what I want. As long as you agree to be with me, I

will back off. Saunders Group is opposing me by seizing the promotion resources of De Lux. No one in the business world dares to utter a

word when I deal with them. If you plead, I might just let them off the hook. But you have to agree to this one condition of mine.”

Lionel's expression darkened. He regarded her with a cold and clear gaze. In a firm voice, he declared, “I don't love you.”

“Feelings can be developed.”

“I'm not interested.”

“All right, then. Seeing as you have declined so decisively, Mr. Gezmond, it seems we have nothing more to discuss. You may leave.”

Lionel was about to stand up and leave, but upon considering the current situation of the Saunders family, he managed to suppress his urge.

“Let's handle our issues privately, Lynda. We shouldn't involve the innocent.”

Lynda chuckled. She drained her wine in one gulp.

After setting down her glass, she looked at him with a tipsy haze in her eyes and flashed a playful smile. “I've had too much to drink,” she

said. “Carry me to the lounge on the eighth floor so I could lie down. If you do this for me, I'll back off and leave the Saunders family alone.

But, if you won't, then the Saunders family better brace themselves for bankruptcy. I know you're capable, but your domain lies only in the

media industry. You cannot stop De Lux.”

She spoke the truth, so she had nothing to fear.

“If I take you upstairs to rest, will you stop?” Lionel asked quietly.

Lynda gave a bitter smile. “I've admired you for many years, but I never dared to overstep because of Ms. Wendy. Now that you've ended your

relationship, I thought I had a chance. Unexpectedly, Victoria appeared out of nowhere instead. I'm frustrated, to say the least—a pent-up

resentment. If you won't help me let off some steam, I'm afraid I'll just keep spiraling.”

After some thought, Lionel stood up and walked over to her. “All right. I'll carry you upstairs.”
