Chapter 774
Chapter 774
Skylar was feeling particularly low at the moment. She had been carrying a heavy burden, a result of unresolved issues with Joe that were difficult to put into words.
“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me,” she assured Natalie.
Natalie raised an eyebrow but didn’t press further. She was worried about Skylar, who had already been hurt by Christopher and now seemed to be struggling with Joe. She hoped Skylar wouldn’t bottle up her emotions.
After their meal today, she was comforted by Skylar’s upbeat demeanor. They lingered in conversation as dusk settled in.
Noticing the time, Natalie said, “I should head out now. Make sure you and Ms. Yancey get some rest.”
“I’ll drive you,” Skylar offered, grabbing the car keys.
Natalie had come directly from the film set and had not driven that day.
As Natalie began to decline the offer, her phone rang. It was Hank.
“Oh? Okay, I’m not too far away. I’ll head over now.”
After ending the call, Natalie informed Skylar, “Looks like you’ll need to give me a ride after all. Mr. Powell and the crew drank too much at the restaurant. Hank has a pressing matter and can’t pick up Mr. Powell, so I’ll have to go get him.*
“Alright, let’s go. I’ll take you,” Skylar said. Then, they headed toward her
car.
“Will Ms. Yancey be okay alone at home?”
“It’s fine. I’ll give my mom a call and let her know.”
Soon, they arrived at a Floan restaurant.
Skylar followed Natalie into the restaurant.
Upon reaching the private room, they saw three or four drunk people. The room was large, and it appeared the others had already left. The
remaining few were waiting for a ride.
In Jispsburg City, drunk driving was heavily enforced. Celebrities, in particular, were cautious about not driving after drinking.
Skylar waited outside the private room.
After greeting the others, Natalie approached Austin. “Mr. Powell, I’m here to take you home.”
Though Austin had drunk quite a bit, he was resting on a nearby couch, eyes closed. He looked as if he was asleep but opened his eyes when he heard Natalie’s voice.
Seeing Natalie, his gaze softened slightly. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“Alright, let’s go,” he said, standing up. He seemed fine initially, but as soon as he took a step, Natalie noticed something was off and quickly helped
him.
“The car is right outside. I checked earlier, and there are no reporters waiting.”
Austin gave a gentle nod and hummed softly in response. He allowed Natalie to hold him.
When they reached the door and saw Skylar, Austin recognized her.” Nath’s friend?”
Skylar smiled and nodded.
The three of them left the private room and took the elevator down.
When the elevator doors opened on the ground floor, they were ready to step out. Skylar, behind Natalie and Austin, was confused when they both suddenly paused.
“What’s going on?” she asked, peeking outside the elevator. Her gaze froze slightly at the sight.
It was a coincidence. Joe and Jeremy, along with a few others, were
standing right there.
Joe didn’t notice her at first, his attention focused on Natalie and Austin. But when he noticed someone else behind them, his eyes quickly swept
over.
Skylar felt a shift in Joe’s expression when he finally saw her. She looked away from him.
Skylar then glanced at Jeremy. Jeremy’s gaze was cold, fixed on Natalie as she linked arms with Austin. Even without speaking, his eyes conveyed a chilling anger.
Skylar silently thought that if they had arrived just a few minutes earlier, they would have avoided this encounter.
