Chapter 21
"You're bound to live a miserable life."
Mayra clenched her fists tightly. In all her years, never had she ever been scolded like this. Not even Anderson had once raised his voice at her.
Mayra felt a surge of anger well up within her. Being falsely accused was truly not a great feeling.
"Ms. Nina, you're words are indeed correct. But as I've said before, Gordon is merely tutoring me. If you don't believe me, you can call him here and ask him yourself.
"Or if you truly don't believe me, you can just transfer me to another class. You're right… I am an orphan, but I still have a brother. He's just busy and has no time to take care of me. He did not abandon me!
"Don't worry, I'll let my grades speak for themselves."
With that, Mayra turned around and headed back to the classroom. She was serious about wanting to study hard, and besides… the things she said to Gordan at the school gate were merely to scare him.
Gordon wasn't one to suddenly ignore her for no reason. Something must've happened.
Throughout her morning classes, Mayra didn't let the events from this morning affect her.
At noon, she boldly made her way to the library. There, she found Gordan seated at the very end, near the window. Placed beside him were some cakes and pastries.
Mayra walked over and took a seat beside him. "Let's begin."
She glanced at the computer programming book that Gordan was reading and found it completely foreign.
Without lifting his head, Gordon pushed the cake toward her. "There's no rush. Have some cake first. I'll be done shortly."
There was still another half an hour till lunchtime ended. Mayra waited patiently for Gordan to finish his homework.
She took out her pencil case, accidentally dropping her pen in the process. As she bent over to pick it up, she caught sight of a pink strawberry keychain nestled in Gordan's pocket. She was momentarily stunned. NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
Gordon noticed her reaction and asked, "What's wrong?"
Mayra sat back up and said casually, "Nothing at all."
"Are you done eating? Pass me your book."
Throughout their tutoring session, their conversation remained strictly focused on the books on hand. If they were to talk about anything else, they would surely attract the attention of other students.
Whoever said that dating would hinder one from their studies? If Mayra were to really date Gordan, he would undoubtedly be more strict with her studies than her teachers! Gordon had always been on top of this game!
Mayra listened attentively to Gordan, and before she knew it, the bell rang. Gordon put away his pen and said, "We'll stop here today. You can return to class now. I'll teach you the rest tomorrow."
Myara nodded and picked up her bag. She hesitated for a while before stopping in her tracks. "Gordan…"
