CHAPTER 35
All eyes turned to Maxie, who had her head held down low.
“Her?” Lance asked again in disbelief, “A soldier? Are you serious right now? You can be pressured by a common
soldier?”
“Yes. Don’t get tricked by her appearance! She is quite a fierce one! A lot of
her!”
eople in this pack are intimidated by
Lance did witness Maxie’s conquest-she took down a crazy bear all by herself.
“But why would she try to kill Aurora then? They don’t even know each other!”
Maxie remained silent. The man hesitated.
Baron smoothly took over and said, “Jealous, maybe? She was afraid that Aurora might out-strong her in the competition and therefore send those bears to kill Aurora. Women…Ha, a bunch of redeyes monkeys. Should never allow them into the army-
“SHUT UP!
“SHUT UP! I am not asking you!” Lance snapped.
Baron rolled his eyes, “Whatever. Just know that Maxie went behind my back. I had no idea of what she did.”
Maxie still kept her mouth shut as though she had nothing to say about Baron’s accusation.
People stared at her perplexedly, including Aurora.
Baron’s reasoning was groundless. If anyone should be worried about the outcome of this competition, it should be the Gamma of this team, Baron, not Maxie..
Yet why didn’t Maxie deny this? Why didn’t she say anything to defend herself?
“This is f**g ridiculous. Anyone with a pulse can see you are behind this!” Lance said, irritated.
“The witness has spoken! Yet you are still saying that it was me?! You can’t do this! Even if you are an Alpha! Can’t pressure people like that!” Baron cried. “And ask Maxiel Ask her if she did this!”
Maxie slightly quivered. It would seem like that she was afraid of her crimes getting exposed.
…There was something wrong with this. Aurora was sure of that.
She turned to Damien and asked in a voice that only the two of them could hear, “Do you know anything about this soldier Maxie?”
20:57 Mon, 22 Ju
Damien nodded, “Yes. She was a very strong and capable warrior. In fact, if it wasn’t for her records, she would
become a general a long time ago.”
“What kind of record?” Aurora frowned.
“Criminal record. She was put into prison for 3 months because of stealing.”
Aurora frowned.
Maxie seemed like a decent person to her…but stealing?!
This stealing record definitely played against Maxie’s favor.
“SPOKE UP YOU B**H!” Baron suddenly let out a furious roar.
He jumped at Maxie and landed a hard kick on her back.
Maxie stumbled forward and still held her head down in silence.
“Confess your crime, now!” Baron snarled, “Haven’t you done enough shameful stuffs? I gave you a second chance after you got out of prison. Yet you completely disappointed me, AGAIN!”
The looks on everyone’s face changed when they heard that Maxie was in prison once.
A woman with criminal record…That made her seem even more suspicious than before.
Baron was about to hit Maxie again.
But Aurora called him off.
“Stop abusing your soldier, Gamma Baron.” Aurora said with an ironic smile, “I was almost beginning to think that you are blackmailing her to confess.”
“What? That is absurd! I do not need to blackmail anybody. The truth can speak for itself!”
Baron turned to Bobbie and said:
“Ask Bobbie. Did you notice anything weird about Maxie before the competition began?”
Bobbie quickly nodded, “Yes! She was very sneaky and talked for a long while with that man. It must be about the
map.”
“See? I told you-”
“I don’t want anyone else’s testimony.”
Aurora got off the bed and walked up to Maxie.
She trusted her first impression of this woman. She believe that Maxie was innocent.
Those testimonies meant nothing. Baron could easily bribe everyone to testify against Maxie, just like what Chloe
did to her once.
She would not let these people frame an innocent person under her watch!
“Maxie, tell us what happened. Don’t be afraid of saying out the truth. We will all protect you.” Aurora said to Maxie
in a soft voice.
Maxie held her head down in silence.
After a long time, she slowly rose her head but avoided Aurora’s eyes.
“Yes.”
She said in a small yet affirmative voice.
“…I did it.”
An astonished gasp could be heard from the crowd.
Aurora stared closely at Maxie and pursued, “Are you sure? Don’t feel any pressure to own up to anything you.
didn’t do!”
Maxie shook her head.
She was still staring down at her own feet.
“I am sure. I did it,” she repeated.
“Ha!” Baron clapped his hand, a triumph grin on his face. “I told you! Maxie is guilty!”NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
Lance rubbed the furrow between his brows, frustrated, “But it doesn’t make any sense…She is just a soldier. Why would she risk her own career and life trying to kill a Gamma?”
“Who knows?” Baron said dismissively, “She is a woman. Woman does all kinds of crazy things! I am so sick of
these tramps in my army!”
He grabbed Maxie by her hair and banged her head against the wall, snarling
“Stupid **h! Completely ruined my reputation! I should never give you that chance! Idiot-
“STOP” Aurora snaped.

Damien spoke up at the same time in a stern voice, “Cut it off right now! Baron you are not an executioner. You have no right to abuse her like that!”
Baron released Maxie, who slid down against the wall with blood streaming down her forehead.
Damien gave Baron a stern look before ordering the soldiers, “Take Maxie to the cell. I will talk to the ministers and executioner and decide her punishment.”
“No.” Aurora gritted, “There is no need. I can think of a punishment right now.”
Aurora was glaring at Baron right now, her eyes bright with anger.
…She would not let this bastard get away with this.
Baron couldn’t help but take a step back in fear, “Why the hell are you looking at me?”
Aurora ignored him.
She asked Damien, “As the victim of this incident, can I decide the punishment?”
Damien hesitated for a second and nodded, “Sure.”
“No matter what I want?”
“It is entirely up to you.”
“Perfect.”
Aurora strode over to Baron and looked down at him icily:
“Then I want YOU, Baron, to be paraded through the town while a speaker announcing your crime for all passersby
to hear!”
The entire room lapsed into a ringing silence.
Maxie snapped her head around and looked at Aurora, astonished.
Baron widened his eyes in shock. A few seconds later, he suddenly burst into laughter:
“WHAT THE F**K-are you crazy?! I didn’t do anything wrong! Why should I get punished for this?”
“Because you are her Gamma,” Aurora sneered. “Remember what you said to me back in the forest? A Gamma should be responsible for anything that their own soldiers did. If I should be responsible for my soldier’s injuries, you should be responsible for your soldier’s crimes!”
Baron’s face turned red, and he yelled, “It is not the same thing-
“It is exactly the same thing,” Aurora said coldly. “What? Are you going to hold a double standard just because the situation involves you now?”
Baron gritted.
He wanted to throw a punch at her face.
But he didn’t dare because he knew she was stronger than he was. Not to mention that Alpha Lance and other Gammas were all watching his every move closely.
“Alpha!” Baron turned to Damien abruptly and cried, “Alpha please! You are not going to let these bunch of people humiliate your Gamma like this, are you?! Just think of what people will say about this! It undermines your authority as well!”
Damien frowned.
“Don’t forget what you promised, Alpha Damien. ANYTHING that I want,” Aurora reminded him icily.
Lance came to stand with Aurora as well, “The whole room heard your promise. Honest your own words, Alpha
Damien.”
Damien’s freezing gaze traveled to Maxie and then back to Baron, who was staring back at him with fearful eyes.
“If it pleases Gamma Aurora…”
Damien spoke up in a deep voice, “Then we will go with your decision. Guard, escort Baron out!”
Guards immediately obeyed his order and went for Baron.
“What?-WAIT!”
Baron backed away, growling with anger. But he was still seized by them eventually.
“ALPHA-Alpha Damien!…Are you out of your mind?! Letting these foreigners bully your own Gamma! Shame on
you!!”
“You have let me down not once-but multiple times with your recent behaviors.” Damien said icily, “Let this be at remainder for you…Of how to be a good Gamma.”
Baron roared in rage.
But he was dragged out by the guards and his voice gradually disappeared into the distance.
Aurora clapped her hands together with a sneer.
“Anyone want to join me in the parade?”
Chapter 36
Baron was dragged to the outside and shoved into a truck.
Soldiers cuffed his hands to the bars and shut the truck’s doors.
Baron shook the bars violently and snarled, “I am your Gamma for fuck’s sake! You dare do this to me!? FUCK! Just wait till I get out! I will snap your fucking hands-”
“Stop yelling, Gamma Baron.” Glen walked to the truck and looked up at Baron with a smile. “You can use some of that strength later.”
Baron glared at him, “What the fuck are you doing here?!”
“Aurora and Alpha Lance asked me a favor.”
Glen opened the truck’s passenger’s door and hopped in, “I am tagging along as the third party to make sure that this punishment is carried out rightly.”
“Y–You are definitely here to gloat! You son of a bitch! You wuss! Piece of shit-”
“Let the parade begin!” Glen raised his volume, talking over Baron’s vicious curses.
The truck took off from the hotel and drove into the central downtown.
Its presence caught people’s eyes immediately.
People stopped on the street and gazed over, perplexed.
Baron’s face gradually turned red with embarrassment.
He wanted to hide his face under his elbows, but he couldn’t because his hands were cuffed to the bars.
And the speaker installed on top of the truck started to broadcast:
.., Gamma Baron of the Silver Blade Pack, hereby apologize for my mistakes. I cheated in the competition and gave my competitors the wrong map, leading them into the bear cave. I put Gamma Aurora’s life at risk. 1 disappointed my Alpha and all my soldiers. I am evil and despicable…”
“NO! NO-
Baron cried desperately.
“It wasn’t me! I didn’t do it! I am here to take the blame for one of my soldiers! For FUCK’S SAKE! Somebody turn of that damn broadcast!”
